How do you guys sing without sounding like you're just speaking

Obvious answer to this is practice I know but I think there has to be more than practice right? Whenever I sing, I always sound as if I'm just speaking the lyrics out loud (example below) I tried different tones and such but I still sound the same. The furthest I sound like I am speaking is when I do a sort of opera male like voice.

Can someone explain this to me?

Yes!! So this is a very common thing new singers struggle with and its usually an easy fix, first things first this song isn’t great for such purpose as its mostly indeed just speaking the words…I would suggest:

• exploring vocal weight, registers, notes
• trying different songs (for example a song where you have to belt or hold a long note)
• unfortunately it is just practice, mostly trial and error for the singing to just.. “click!” If you know what I mean?

So overall this is just matter of exploring what works and what doesn’t this isn’t necessarily a habit or mistake or a flaw within you its just depending on habit and style
