I think that we have a good enough transportation system at the moment with obsidian and the new obsidian shards.
These sound like great suggestions for a mod though!

Hell yeah this would be perfect.
Imagine having one playthrough making a car or horse to travel
Then in the next playthrough one you can experiment with planes, motorcycles and different animals to ride to travel to different locations.
This is a really cool idea that would add tons of different ways to play.
