For mactera plague, I would recommend breach cutter with triple line on engi or cryo cannon built for high freeze rate on driller
Both gunner and scout should be able to deal with mactera with any of their loadouts

if it's yes, this EDD is just slightly harder than normal
if no, you'll need somebody better than you to help you through it
i feel usually the deep dives are a bit on the easier side though
despite going all the way to 5.5
i think they are made to be a bit more manageable
I believe Jacob mentioned a few weeks ago that the difficulty can't be reliably measured as 4.5-5-5.5 due to how the missions are structured.

So i would like to do a deep dive for the first time. what boxes should i tic before considering myself ready to attempt it? additionally, what's the best way to get a group for one? (i've promoted, and done haz 4 a few times)

@tough jungle i haven't had this specific thing happen but i have had steam weirdly roll back my progress on other games before
spent a few hours on RoR2 to unlock better characters to play with my friends, and the next time we queued in i was back to only the default character
Iv been stuck with commando but only in multiplayer. My single player stats always save. I figured it was because i was modding
i only ever play multi (was just queued with one person helping me, instead of several doing some insane difficulty as usual), so it was definitely some kind of wig out on steam/ror2's behalf
Maybe some fluke with the 1.0 release? Either way steam should be a lot better at keepingn our data together...

@brisk ledge If you're a gunner, your minigun and autocannon take time to wind up to full speed. That's stabilization. You can get extra damage at that point if you use that mod.
I thought stabilization was the time it took for the reticle to shrink, no?
On the minigun it's the reverse-spread, on the autocannon it's max fire rate

@plucky dust If you're having difficulty with deep dives and breaking into haz 4 as a gunner, it would be good to play a bunch more haz 3 until you got it down, and play as a driller or engineer. Footwork is key to survival, and you don't tend to practice your movement as a gunner very often so you can't learn effectively.
Also, ziplines around the blackbox help gunner out a lot if they're decently high off the ground, especially if you're swarmed by little guys. Just make sure you take care of spitters and mactera.

Iām all for harder missions, but this has been a bit...Repetitive
in fact, the hardest ones to me are the most memorable. And the last 7 EDDs have been leaning on the moderately easy side.
There was one a while ago that was a ghost bulk on extraction with dreads for the final stage. THAT one was fun, lots of losing was done that week
Then again, I think to spice things up, my friend and I should start inviting randoms to get a full 4 person party.
We usually do them 2 man
Guys who completed EDDs with all possible team compositions, what is the most difficult out of them all? Like, I usually just solo them, or if my friends have time to play, we full team 'em, both solo and 4man are easy, what about duos or 3-man teams? Are they worth doing?
of course, the more players the better, but what about scaling of difficulty? I remember someone on reddit saying that you dont have a full team, you'd better just solo something, than play in a team of 2-3 players
2 man teams and 4 man are extremely different
2 man teams, thereās a high risk of accidentally immediately losing (99% of my games are 2 man)
4 man teams, thereās a huge chance that youāll need to get 10+ revives to keep your team going
Iāve found 4 man to be consistently harder in terms of average difficulty. But 2 man is way harder during that one very hard wave, since you canāt go down without losing the mission.
Solo is the easiest, Bosco can revive you 4x per stage giving you a potentially free 12 revives. Given you can get a free iron will revive on each stage, this can be 15 downs total.
Generally on two man teams, I get 0-2 downs, and 1-2 revives.
Four man teams I get 3-4 downs, 10-15 revives.
I donāt usually play solo so I canāt comment, but the times I had, I believe I get 0-2 downs.

When you lose with a four man team, usually it feels like the team went down because shit was hard.
When you lose on a two man team, usually itās from a silly mistake or slip up.
Yeah, I know that feeling. I also get 0-2 downs when solo, and it ALWAYS happens when something very unexpected happens (detonator during the black box part, or I get caught by a leech and bosco decides to watch some youtube videos instead of saving me), but when we get wiped as a full team, we are like "wtf dude, that was some crazy shit". I think that your own perception is important here too, because when you are solo, you know that you dont have anybody to help you if shit hits the fan, so you plan how much nitra you need, what objectives to do first and so on (I also take some breaks before stages, to relax my eyes and do some physical exercises, no idea why, but it helps lol), so you go down only when you dont expect something, but when you play in a full team, you are kinda relaxed, because... there are four dwarfs here.... what can go wrong? and when it happens, when all start align, you are shocked and you think that you were the one who got into bad situation like that, but in reality it was just a chain of unfortunate events (RNG+lazy play of your teammates and you) that every player can meet during his missions, nothing special.
Also, thanks for the info on 2man missions, I have a friend that I have some good synergy with, so we'll definitely try to do it later @heavy oriole
One thing I think 2 man teaches pretty well, is how to play well/patiently when youāre about to lose the mission
Thereās a natural urge to rush to your teammate and try saving them; but 90% of my missions losses are from timing that incorrectly, or making a dumb mistake when I walk over to them
Handling a dread during a wave when your teammate down is definitely a good example of this

If you're a Haz5 vet, solo is always the most consistent team size, because Bosco doesn't do anything unpredictable.
3 and 4 man teams usually play the same assuming the same quality of players
with 4 tending to be easier
Duo is the most bipolar experience
2 good players on duo is honestly pretty easy; you have solo level spawns but twice the firepower
but if the other player isn't good, it's gonna be clutch or lose half the time
Driller's pretty good for EDD solo this week, good luck if you get grabbed on stage 2 though.

idk whats the strategy, like most ppl i talk to say to knock the EDD first but then the counter to that is, finding a chad group doing a deep dive, like everyones doing their part and stuff, and then the off chance they did not do the EDD, you can knock that one out too

Its very frustrating when you join EDD lobbies and its nothing but bronze level players over and over.
Frankly its unfair for everyone involved, because the overclocks you get are random.
Theres a lot of junk OCs you gotta grind through to get proper ones.
simple strategy to EDD queueing: be good enough to play Haz5, start a Haz5 lobby on Thursday, or peak hours Fri-Sun,
once you've had a game or two, queue for EDD
or find a regular group

...deep dive missions
Well, you're going to need at least a promoted character, since only promoted dwarves can get into deep dives
Then you'll have to start the deep dive from the deep dive terminal, which is the one in front of the big window, next to the forge
Deep dives are a serie of 3 missions which have a shared seed between all players (meaning everyone will play the same levels, with only a few enemy variations)
Those missions are bit different of the standard ones as they are composed from 2 primary objectives (meaning you can't skip one to leave early), you carry your nitra/ammo/health over from one mission to another and they have a different set of difficulty. They also have higher chances of being affected by a mutator (like Cave leech infestation or low O2, but also positive ones)
Talking about the difficulty, the regular Deep Dives are hazard 3/3.5/3.5 and elite deep dives are 4.5/5/5.5
Each level reward you with a core. A blank one for the 1st level, a weapon overclock for the second and a cosmetic overclock for the third.
And I think that's pretty much it.
Oh and there are no minerals in the deep dives. Only gold and nitra. Also, each deep dive only reward you once. Meaning you can't farm it to get overclocks very fast.

Well, you can't farm the deep dives. Once you get the reward once, the level count as completed and you won't get any reward from it.
So if you do both, you'll get 6 OC totals (2 blank, 2 weapon's OC, 2 cosmetics)

Sorry for the newbie question, do you get items directly from the deep dives, or does it allow you to craft with the forge? On that same note is there a point to doing the deep dive before I promote a character?
you can only do a deep dive with a promoted character. You get matrix cores (blank or infused (cosmetic or overclocks)) after completing each stage of a deep dive once per dive per week. You forge those cores in the forge by spending credits and crafting resources.

EDDs always seem to have red modifiers and none that help the team out. I approve, they SHOULD be challenging.
I like seeing the tougher ones these days, but... I also have 980 hours in the game, so there's that.

that said, I would totally be down for a haz4-haz5 style difficulty with longer maps or more challenging spawns

The game is so good, that itās fun to play for a long time. If itās fun to play for a long time, itās fun to have options in terms of challenge.

Someone before mentioned customizable Challenge Sliders for games. This idea I think is the best.
Thereās no leader boards, thereās no anti cheat. So why would it matter if some people want to challenge themselves?

Farming isn't a worry imo. I think a slider system would undermine the design of all the rotating buffs and modifiers that exist tho.
And would contradict the decision to tie gold and xp multiplier to haz levels.
Which leaves few options left to customize. And at that point it's not a meaningful addition.

There are a few ways to counter mactera plague so it's a lot less painful. On haz 5 and EDD runs, massive clusters of mactera spawning in not-very-open areas tend to take care of themselves with a well-aimed aoe like grenades or C4. Drilling an emergency bunker or tunnel to funnel the mactera one way or another also helps a lot. If all else fails, gunner with duration upgrades on the shield can be an emergency backup, but you really don't want to be caught in that sort of situation if you know you're playing mactera plague.
The only times when mactera plague can become inexcusably punishing is in aquarq missions where the cave is really wide open, but at that point you could always try to hug the walls when moving to aquarq patches, and you shouldn't be spending too much time digging for them anyway.
This week's EDD with the matera plague was fairly easy because most of the cave in stage 2 was a series of tight tunnels. The mactera funnelled themselves.
After all this time, I dont really fear that particular modifier, in fact its one of my favorites. It doesnt matter if a hundred mactera target you, as long as you walk perpendicular to the swarm they will all miss their shots. And if you play as a Scout with Cryo grenades, then its open season. Bring it on!
And if you dont use cryo grenades, then there's Bullets of Mercy + stun on the GK2, precision terror on the M1000, triple line breach cutter, PGL wiht proximity trigger + fire, cryo cannon + snowball etc.
Cryo cannon kinda sucks at taking out mactera in my experience, but I never found the snowball overclock so I can't judge. It just takes way too long to freeze the mactera and ends up being a massive drain on ammo. Will try that out if/when I find snowball. Flamethrower has been a very trustworthy weapon as a driller in taking out mactera as long as I get just one range modification.

Running in a straight line is usually not an option for me, especially when there's a swarm. With all the ground glyphids running around, there's no way you're dodging mactera at the same time, and they still spawn in fairly plentiful quantities.
Mactera as driller is a problem
You can still adequately deal with mactera as a driller, but you can't take them on directly like all the other classes usually do.
specially goo bombers and grabbers take farrr too long to freeze so you basically either need to spam the subata or EPC lol

I never use the Subata without the flamethrower, so I play either flamethrower + handgun or cryo + plasma. The extra damage to burning targets on the handgun sorta makes the weapon really great at melting away big targets with full-auto overclock, and can deal with mactera on its own even if you decide not to take the 20% mactera damage mod.
If you do build driller to be good against mactera, then you're going to be mostly useless against dreadnoughts unfortunately. Can't burn the guy and the handgun is still pretty weak against it in a four player party. At least the cryo can freeze it for a little bit for everyone to do the extra damage for a second.

This is true. Driller is an aoe class to begin with so it takes priority.
Revised opinion on EDDs with two elimination missions. Either stay aoe and be eye-candy during the dread fight or try to spread yourself a little thin.
Heavy hitter fire epc + cryo built for straight freezing (not damage) is really good
also I swear damage cryo atm is kinda like "but why"
I build my cryo to be straight freezing and it still takes a lot of ammo to freeze the dread unless a scout helps me out with a cryo grenade. It's not really worth trying to freeze him multiple times in my experience because it otherwise leaves you open to swarms when you run out of ammo before you could call/collect a drop.
not to mention that the window in which they're frozen is tiny

flame is still damage over time though, at 1/3 health they just cook.
Engy and scout are the best classes to deal with macterra period. BC and PGL are both pretty good at one tapping swarms and scout has cryos period. Anything that can't 1 shot at haz 5 isn't really worth considering for macterra plague because the whole point is to kill them before they can shoot. If they fire you're already dead.

In my experience neither flame or cryo really kill them fast enough to stop a swarm from murdering you out in the open.
Bonus tip: Snowball is laughably bad, not only does it disable your primary for a not insignificant time but the ammo per shot is just absurd. The snowball projectile is so massive when it spawns you'll shoot yourself most of the time because of any bug, dwarf or map geometry immediately to your right, infront of or behind where your driller is holding the weapon will catch the projectile and blow it up in your face.
Like dead ass, never try to use this feature unless you're standing on completely flat ground. And even then teammates, any grunt sized bug at your feet will still often cause you to chill youself and waste 50 ammo.
Are there any good overclocks for the cryo gun? I have ice spear which I found to be somewhat unhelpful, and the one clean overclock I have for it ups the stats by a tiny bit smidge. I was hoping there is some overclock that exists that makes it more interesting or useful. The one closest to that which I have is one that makes depressurization much faster when not firing but also lowers max output before needing a cooldown, but it just feels like more high maintenance usage when mods are fine enough to give it that effect I need.
Like I love me my driller class and the cryo gun is so nice, but I'd love a good overclock on it at some point. I have only three unlocked and I'm not particularly hopeful that the rest will be any good, either.
@flint zephyr The clean freezing one? TLDR:Yeah thats the best one imo. Like others have said, I never bother building cryo for damage if I wanted dps i'd just use the flame thrower. The cryo is specifically best at immobilizing targets that are either so dangerous or annoying you don't want them to have achance to do anything. i.e. pratorians that die while forzen don't gas or leave radiation, exploders can't detonate(especially good on radioactive ones) spitballers can't spit, slashers can't stun you etcetera.
I'd like to say there's more than just freezing for the cryo but yeah that's about it.

Deep dives are end game content in which you go through a pre-seeded set of maps to collect blank cores that allow you to provide overclocks to your dwarves.
Deep dives have difficulty of 3, 3.5, 3.5 in order.
While Elite deep dives have a difficulty of 4.5, 5, 5.5.
Deep dives will not have lost equipments or cargo crates and procedural minerals, but will still have huuli hoarders that can spawn.

Usually, there's a prime time on the day they first come out, and the day they're about to reset. You can always ask in LFG if anybody wants to group up for it, since it's good exp even if you've finished the DDs and EDDs for the week.
I can usually set up a DD lobby and get a team together within 15 minutes with randoms.
Try doing it either on Thursday, Friday, or the weekend. Most people do it then

Hey guys, my friend has severe case of FOMO, and he wants to know, are the rewards you get in DD exclusive to DD or you can get them just playing the game? (sometimes he doesnt have time to play at all, so he fears he can miss some overclocks and cosmetics)
There isn't a specific overclock that you can get exclusively from DD. However, the DD and EDD gives a blank core, gun overclock, cosmetic overclock each
You have all the time in the world to get every OC and cosmetic core in the game, they aren't going anywhere. There are some exclusive cosmetics from past events but they aren't tied to DDs they are just for having played at the time.

Yeah, actually its not what I wanted to hear, but devs are cool, so Im not gonna be pissed because events are so rare, the main game is super polished and gets a lot of updates, so you dont have to wait for events because devs take too long to make any new content (looking at you, Fatshark)
The next update will come with an assignment that unlocks a unique cosmetic on completion but I don't know if that will be an event or just a new assignment

guner bubble shield worked wonders but ran out
I played as Gunner for this EDD and the shield definitely helps a lot especially on the 2nd stage. The mactera plague spawns actually wasn't hard at all for our team cuz our team always stuck together and we would pretty much wipe out the spawn pretty fast. Would've made it even easier to deal with the mactera if our engineer actually actively used his Breach Cutter though
I didn't spawn the shield everytime, mainly only when the mactera plague spawn was quite big/we were taking a bit longer than normal to clear out the wave or there were more mobs crawling on us while getting shot by the mactera spawn. Although looking back at it now, I would've used shield more because there was so much nitra u can get from this EDD.

every team i get is random first timers and wont listen wont stick together wont gather for egg one guy went around solo trigering all spawns with eggs and got us all killed its just so bad

For DD or in general? Rando's can be a gamble. Especially when not using voice chat/discord. Hop in a pod here and post an invite in #lfg-steam, you'll have a much nicer experience in general.

@vocal wyvern If you're having prob with mactera then engi with BC or rocket launcher with proximity trigger and flames. When you go into lobby try to go EDD with people that have decent levels.

Black Boxes function just like the comm/fuel supply sections during a mule mission, however you need to do it only once, and leaving the zone too long will not fail the mission, but rather reset it.

Gear wise it's good to have a good overclock on your primary, obviously all slots on all gear having an upgrade. You also need to understand enemy spawn patterns for each mission type. Definitely have 3 leveled perks and 2 leveled active perks.

Yeah exactly. They dictate the pace of the mission. Taking it slow is good on eggs e.g. but really bad on mining and PE

they do a shit ton of damage, but there's something even worse
mactera are priority targets and they just don't exist along the same space that all other enemies do
so while you're blasting at mactera in the sky you are not focusing on the swarms of glyphids coming at you like a freight train
or maybe the q'ronar shellback that's about to roll into your entire party and shout "STEEEEE-RIKE!"
They're kinda similar to spitters in that way. I just hate the way they juke

other than knowing it is the black spot on the terrain scanner, I guess you just have to guide it far away enough if you need to focus somewhere

for the most part, the way to deal with the unknown horror is to just try and work around it. be smart, pay attention to who it's following and coordinate to have your team move it away, and keep an eye out
it doesn't deal nearly as much damage as a bulk so you won't be punished TOO severely for getting near it but it's a bad idea
it'll probably chunk half your health instead of all of it
Do deep dives vary wildly in difficulty? I've been mostly unsuccessful in my few efforts.
normal is roughly 3-3.5 with the elite being somewhere between 4.5-5.5 depending on the level layout and hazards.
A bad cave layout for your class/group composition can multiply the difficulty
But if you handle haz 3 regularly you should be alright

Can we get harder EDDs with maybe some stronger rewards over regular DD? I'm rather new and haven't had much issue with these things. Kinda disappointing there's no challenge to strive toward where proper OC / top level perks are needed.

@dense spear we got 2 bulks but during regular wave/egg wave. Nothing during BB . Overall rather easy just watch your positioning when pulling the eggs

Elite dive aquarq missions on stage 3 are a lot worse. You have basically no room to breathe. By the time you kill the current spawn group, another one has already crawled up.

they used bunkering a lot. i know it's a cheesy tactic but the reason why i failed in other deep dives was because no one wanted to bunker

I think bunkering can be a valid strat, just needs to be done correctly and accounting for the risks.. Obvious risk is a bulk. Mitigation might be a scout to lure it away or an engi with stubby to slow it down to buy time. Or even knowing when it's a bad idea. Like if rolly pollies are spawning, you probably don't want to bunker

The distinctions do get glossed over a lot. The objective + supply drop + completely sealed in hole is the bunkeriest bunker. A flat floor and ceiling with two walls and two open sides I think someone described as a hanger, and works great without trapping you

So I just sealed up a huge hole in the wall, and used the tunnel as an impromptu Bunker. The Fuel Lines landed inside the same cave.

I mean, on the topic of bunkers... Line of sight is king. If youƤre stuck in a hole, classe like the engi and Scout cant do more than just sit there and toss a grenade once in a while. In a big open space, that is lit up by the Scout, you can kill stuff from a great distance, removing most of the hrode before it gets to the group down at the uplink.
Personally, when drillers make a bunker, I decline the offer and tell them Ill stay up on the surface and kite things until the uplink is done.
If Im an engineer Ill do the same. Because my fat dong does not fit in tight tunnels. Huehue. Seriously tho, I prefer to fight out in the open. As soon as a horde spawns on a wall nearby, I will fire a fat boy right at it and eliminate the threat immediately. So imo, bunkers are not needed at all.
Agree they're more risk than they're worth and cost a ton of drill fuel. Finding just a good spot to fight a swarm or just clearing out the obstacles around the box is much faster and more successful than bunkering in my experience
I disagree with this opinion but i respect the opinion. Bunkers are very useful if you have an experienced gunner (or any other class, but 60% goes to gunner) the gunner can throw a shield or cluster grenade to eliminate/stop the swarm, and if the uplink did a stupid and is down from the droppod, the zip line can help a lot, because you can shoot most of the enemies going up (or down, if you wanna shoot them instead of escape) I agree with bunkers arent needed some times, because if you get a detonator, crassus or bulk, your fucked. The only way your getting out of that situation, is to 1: Make sure there ARE NO EXPLODERS, 2: Make sure that there are no holes: Once they get through, oh boy. 3: Please, and I say PLEASE make sure your driller has rock carver. It opens alot more space, and doesnt require (as much) resources.

Another great strategy is to have somebody (most likely the scout,) have see you in hell and be on top, so when the team wants to get out they can use see you in hell and clear most of it
all about set up really. That and situational awareness.

A good cryo will make most bulks a non-issue. Guner with mini + driller with cryo, + engi with breach cutter makes bunker tunnel a good kill zone. I'm not sure where that leaves the scout.

also I think it is unfair to say that bunkering is a matter of not actually playing the game. If it's effective enough that it's considered boring and a bypass of the risk, then it is simply an effective strategy. if it is ineffective, well, then it is a matter of misinformation and either timidity or lower skill level of players.
I'd usually say the scout should be outside the bunker hitting praetorian/oppressor weak points from outside and kiting some enemies to take some of the load off the bunker
Plus that way if you get caught off guard by a bulk or something like that, you have someone not getting nuked
Going off this idea, ^ the scout can just grapple around and kill most problems for the team that isnt guards grunts or swarmers
I can't say how often as a gunner or scout I have really wished I had an effective driller/engie taking out swarmers with fire and turrets
as driller, I usually consider the little shits my top combat priority
as engie, I just put up my turrets and try not to die. maybe shooting some flyers if I have time.

or telling people to wait so you can freeze that bulk when it's on that last quarter of it's health and they just kill it anyway
Frozen bulks exploding is the best
They launch you, but you donāt get hurt. Which is weird because I donāt think bulks exploding normally launch people
Iāve had great success bunkering with flame driller, but ya one bulk and wipe. Considering I went through a mission with 4 bulks and five oppressors in 30 min imma have to pass on bunkers
I have yet to effectively freeze a bulk before it explodes, I'm either too early or too late ;o;

I thought the EDD was a DD the whole time, so I kept doing stupid shit like FF and mining stuff solely with my guns...By stage 3, I legit thought maybe our kits/builds were terrible or something since we went down a few times. Then I checked and just realized it was an EDD.

Difficulty ranges from haz 4.5-5.5 depending on the terrain, mutators, and objectives.
It may be too much, it may not.
I know the difficulty can be affected by many factors, but the hazard is fixed
I think this weeks EDD looks easier than typically so I though its good time to get my friend to try it out

@brave shuttle if you get through initial hell of leech grabs, detonators and pretty aggressive spawns, this week's EDD should be doable at those levels
Regular deep dive was a little annoying but the ghost doesn't do that much damage on haz 3 honestly
EDD was fairly tame, much appreciated after all those mactera plagues
The dreadnought in stage 3 for some reason decided to not really attack me much, even though I was dancing around it in close range š¤

I played a point extraction tonight on low O2, and completely forgot it was low O2.
Jumped out and started looking for aquarqs to mine. had no clue wherehte minehead was

im surprised they dont make an underwater biome
with low O2 + modified low G to zero G
underwater might be hard to properly balance for the classes. Seems like a dramatically different experience to the other biomes. Still, i'd like to see it.

Incendiary weapons in general are good against organic matter.
Imagine using the cryo gun underwater to freeze a barrier in place and block all spiders from coming towards you in survival missions.

just a limitation of how everything is implemented. Although as Jacob has suggested; if you want underwater just do low O2 with low gravity and turn up the blue filter on your monitor.
I do know the dev team has said they plan to continue supporting DRG as long as it's financially viable.

Had a full team on the fuel rods in stage two. A detonator spawned and we were all shooting it trying to prevent it from reach the fuel rods. Suddenly everyone fell dead at once. Another detonator had spawned right behind us and one-shot everyone with one attack. What were we supposed to do to prevent this situation?
Not everyone staying with the uplink/fuel cell. Have someone lure it away...preferably so that the others can still shoot it.

I died from the slam and iron willed to breach cutter the crap out of it then Rez my dead friend
The last couple of solo salvage missions spawned a bulk on me as well during the uplink/fuel phase. Key is noticing it in time and having a visual so you can bring it down in time or down far enough so that briefly exiting the sphere to hide from the blast doesn't fail the mission.
I think that Iāll tell my driller to pick the flamethrower to defend our bunker under the fuel cells while I am distracting the bulk

Bunkering is a pretty frowned upon strategy in general. Not because itās good.
is bunkering a valid strategy at all? people said that was the go-to before bulks apparently
every time i try any bunker i get clapped by bulks and oppressors lol
as far as I know not doing it results in a better time, without much rng needed, if anything making a bunker work is so complex that it should be easier to not do it
Bunkering is a valid way to make absolute garbage defendable terrain into bad defendable terrain
Itās like bringing your terrain from a grade F to a D. Or bringing your terrain from a grade A B C to a D.

Perfect example would be when an objective for black box or salvage falls into a glacial or magma core crevasse
wouldn't it be easier to modify the terrain without going into a corner, might need pictures for examples
It might be easier, both options are better than a crevasse
Also, using too much C4 to make bunkers is blegh. C4 is a great way to kill stuff, but it also makes lava surfaces on magma core, so not ideal
Can always drill out the surfaces tho
But thatās a lot of resources

hey i just unlocked deep dives, how do they work?

Deep Dives consist of three missions, each with two primary objectives you have to complete. There are no crafting minerals, only gold + nitra + red sugar. Nitra you mine stays the same between each mission so you have to plot each ammo drop fairly carefully. Also, the maps are always the same (though waves you get might be different between tries).
The big reason to do them is you always get 1 blank Matrix Core, 1 cosmetic, and 1 weapon core per mission. This means you can get 2 of each by doing both the Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dive (DDs are basically Haz 3 / 3.5 / 4 while EDDs are Haz 4.5 / 5 / 5.5 IIRC)
Oh, and you can only do a Deep Dive mission of either type with a promoted dwarf only.
Nitra you mine stays the same between each mission

the first run i went, we fell off the droppod, hence losing the round
second run, the transmittor fail to detect us even though we are standing inside

so its like a giant game of attrition
Boscos revives (when playing solo) are refilled however
Not really a game of attrition, usually you have more than enough on the last stage

DD is trivial this week, EDD is good ol' magma core and mactera plague
if you score a mactera wave during an earthquake, gg š
driller with flamethrower is good vs mactera
i end up camping behind a wall or something to bait them lol
drill a tunnel and dive into it
mactera ball up
kill entire wave with about 30 flamethrower ammo
if you are in a tunnel when the mactera wave spawns, it actually spawns balled up
yes, the spitters clip into each other and get clustered almost into a single ball
and since both of driller's main weapons penetrate, you can hit them all at once
mactera are terrible at tunnels since they can't dodge in them
good points, TIL they spawn together
How annoying is this weeks EDD? I'm at work for a few more hours.
the only downside is that the bombers can get literally in your face
like they clip inside your model and only then start attacking
and they are huge so you can't see shit
This week EDD maps are just awful
Almost impossible to pay attention to the magma grounds with annoying gaps to fall while also fighting swarms of macteras that literally spawn on top of your head
My team only gotten through the second stage by ordering 7 supply pod
stage 1 is fine imo
but stage 2 is probably one of the worst salvage stages in a long while
absolutely massive, 3 menaces right off the bat & 2 breeders
with the cave leeches completely stopping a scout zipping around the cave in order to 1 shot the breeders with cryo's
Yeah stage 2 was nightmare and we were completely crippled economically (nitra) and mentally by stage 3
EDD was ez as pie. All these comments just sound like good ol fashioned difficulty forcing people to play as a team to me...
why on earth would you need player level 100 for normal deep dive
EDD i get i guess maybe but for normal deep dives? normal deep dives aren't even hard

Had a good run on Deep Dive today. Elite we did fine on the first stage, but the second stage we died to the swarm in the big room.
I'd like to blame my internet for a bit of the problem, but positioning was also part of it. I think we just got a little ahead of ourselves and didn't have a great plan of attack or a good fallback point.
Probably what we should have done is step into the room to trigger all the enemies to chase us, then run back tothe previous room where we knew there weren't any cave leechs and where we could funnel the enemies better
Edd was nasty this week, took three attempts solo
So many barrel caverns to platform up and down, not to mention stage twoās room of doom
Lastly, is it just me or did management forgot to put an exploder infestation tag on stage three?
