it's not bad rng
dealing with bulks is trivial as long as it isn't coming up right under you
just spec bosco into electric bullets if you're solo
any form of cc slows him to a crawl
scout can IFG him and vaporize him with any + crit weapon
if you're not running IFG, use the BOM GK2 + flame boomstick combo
on solo, you should be about to kill a solo bulk in around 2.5 mags
driller is just sticky flame + a subata
gunner just needs to spam minigun/six shooter and use the shield to zone the bulk to buy time if needed
engi just needs to breathe in the bulk's general direction with a breach cutter

I couldn't even get out of the hole before I was down again .. than last life I run .. cave leech + menace shooting FFS lol

It seems like salvage missions are always the most difficult part for most players in EDD's.

In my experience this is usually because very few players prepare the area around the uplink and fuel cells.
I always prepare the uplink before the mules are repaired, because not all players have the patience to wait one minute.
what is the difficulty level for normal dd? i was playing one when i got 2 bulk detonators and 2 oppressors in the same level

i've had hazard 3 missions that had way more bulks than a haz 5, it all depends on the mission and the director's choice of enemy
3 - 3,5 - 4 as far as I know. Hazard level 2-5 have the same spawn chance for detonators.

i'll (try to) beat the edd solo with it
warning : Hipster is banned
can't wait for the edd to take place in magma core and the rng makes the fissures happen constantly

but the cave is stupid!! aaaaaa
PE+ black box and shield disrupt on magma would be funny
fissure opens up right underneath the black box, causing it to drop down the crack

I used pheromone which isn't as bad as people say
Cave Leeches weren't a problem
I use heightened senses
i haven't used pheromones since the nerf since it's on par with the other 2 grenades now and i find them more useful than pheromones
They all have different purposes.
IFG can slow down a small group or a single target but does no damage. It also lasts a while.
Cryo can quickly freeze a group of enemies but you have to damage them yourself.
Pheromone can stall a bunch of enemies and cause them to deal damage to each other.
As a scout, I need to preserve time and ammo.
Pheromone is the best for preserving ammo and gives you enough time.
In a group, IFG or Cryo is better as your teammates can utilise the slowdown/damage increase.
cryo is amazing for taking down flying enemies, and that's mostly what i use cryo for tbh
yeah that too, but when you're playing solo you should have bosco with ice rockets
Scout is already great against mactera.
so you don't have to waste your grenades on them
yup that is when solo, it is a bit of a different game
And cryo for a brood is a waste and you can fail to pull it off if the ice thaws.
that's why you destroy three of the eyes and then flash it with cryo and finish off the last eye

you throw it when it has like 10% health, then finish it with a fast burst of damage
in solo though, just have bosco kill off the spawns if he doesnt have an ice rocket
bosco is really good at killing swarmers
yeah, but bosco loves to target larger enemies instead of the giant swarmer pile that's nibbling at your feet
usually I pick something with either fear or stun for the prets
so I could move back and call bosco to me
on scout the boomstick has innate stun, that is really useful for when you need some space
I switched from fire to scare
you don't really notice the scare though so fire is probably better
personally I find myself a fan of the scare aswell
scare is mainly noticed if the pret is still after you after the stun
they are oddly easily scared

only when it spits on your face and you want it to stop
I double tap the weakpoint, melee, loop round and double tap again
the spit is the easiest thing to bait
yeah, but not when defending a blackbox and the like
That's why you need to prioritise them
shoot them in the face then double tap when they're close
usually i have fear on my special powder boomstick since it means i can turn the mobility into a utility option as well so i can create even more space
but i don't really play scout a whole lot in EDD, i usually play gunner way more

and yeah gunner can carry hard
auto cannon with splintering shells is your friend

Hey im new. Im just wondering what deep dives are all about
deep dives are 3 connected missions where you do 2 main objectives at each stage, with fixed hazard levels and cave generation each week
when completed once a week they give special rewards
first stage gives you a blank matrix core, second stage gives you a random weapon overclock, third stage gives you a random cosmetic core
you can only get the rewards once per week
so if you fail on, say, stage 2 of a deep dive and tried it again
you wouldn't get the rewards for the first stage again, but you can still get the rewards for the second and third
to get access to deep dives you have to promote a dwarf, and to do that you must reach level 25 with a class, more information when you get to that point
question: if i use an insta revive on stage 2 of a deep dive, do i get another for stage 3 or do i only get one between the 3 stages

it is just like starting a new mission, only thing you keep is ammo and nitra / gold count , see ?

This weeks EDD
Stage 1 > Rich Atmo, dreadnaught morkite, A couple of Bulk Spawns that are probably avoidable.
Stage 2 > Shield Disruption, Morkite Blackbox, with a number of spitballers and some brood nexus, not the worst but its shield disruption, use HP resupplies if needed, More Bulk Spawns.
Stage 3 > Exploder Infestation, Egg Morkite, More Bulk detonator spawns, exploders on haz 5.5 are LETHAL and quick. Make sure you communicate wave spawns, and remember there are always more exploders than you think.

There was a week in fungus bog with a murder cave salvage mission on stage 2 that almost always had 1-2 bulk spawns
Some people had 3
Some only had 1
last week I had 1 run with bulks, and one run without any...
it is just that random to a point
Like I said, its somewhat random
But typically there is an average amount of bulks
Some people will escape that average for better or worse results
I've noticed that on some deepdives you have to repair mules, but you don't get the up link and fuel cells events, whereas on other deepdives you get both. Is there anyway to know whether minimules are accompanied with the aforementioned events based on the obiectives as they're posted in this channel?
Between missions if it's the larger of the two icons then it's the primary objective. You can expect the mission to behave almost exactly as if you were playing a normal mission like that. If it's the smaller icon then think of it as a compact primary.
Both are required, but the mission will act as if it's set to the larger icons mission type.

But yeah last weeks solo was very rough. This week - no so much
as long as I can do the first stage it is fine, had a bad start for the first stage of DD though
I didnt struggle with last week, struggled with the one before that though
rng plays into it a decent amount i guess
Maybe I was unlucky, I don't know, but in the previous EDD spawned a Bulk Exploder, macteras, 2 menaces and a Opressor while I was in the Uplink fase
so...
for me it was getting pushed by shellbacks and getting surrounded by surprise
yes... and the first time I tried, the leechs, dude.... the fucking leechs.... >_>
Exact same happened with me Baroona. Failed at that uplink 3 or 4 times, until one try the detonator just didn’t spawn for some reason
I tried twice, I have a problem with Crystalline caves, my fps goes from 90 to 10 when there's electric crystals around
and the bulk exploders, leechs and opressor didn't help at all
Oh that’s another thing too lol. I only figured out after finally passing the uplink that you can destroy those electric crystals
spinning death is a fantastic overclock for the BC when you pair it with stun
I know, but there was too many, and I didn't find much Nitra in the first stage
So I just gave up
but thankfully this week was easier

I should have recorded this match... it was terrible. I was running away the bulk exploder while shooting the crystalls and my game just kept freezing every 2 seconds XD
i learnt you can drill underneath the electric crystals to destroy them

also a thing, you can use ammo to kill the electric crystals
mining pistol ruins them too
personally I usually shoot them on engis smg/gunners main

in this mission i entered a cave, almost one shot a spitballer from very far away, and then imediatelly two shotted a breeder
also its fast enough to negate proxy trigger
new meme time, hyper prop goes, whoosh!
also considering it was dreads, hyper prop can do some damage to them
i already knew you could shoot them
so close to completing EDD, but had nitra / ammo issues at the start of the 3rd stage and lost my revives too fast

it's not really
2nd stage is super short
first stage is one big cave, with a bet-c
this is by far one of the easiest edds
strongly recomend engi for second stage for platforms around black box
and bring some high dps for an uplink bulk
stage 2 is particulary bulk-y from my experience
or well, i guess a driller could toss some c4 and drill around and make the black box area far, far more comfortable but that will take some resources and maybe a swarm as its Mining Expedition
I wouldn't go so far as to say easy....
The amount of swarmers and grunts it spawned on that stage 2 shield disruption was no joke
having 300 different things nibbling on you on a shield disruption really isn't easy.

It's basically 3 missions, each with 2 primary objectives, guarentee's for warnings are medium to high imo. Regulars are Haz 3.5 to 4.5 and Elites are 4.5 to 5.5

EDD was ez for our 2 gunners, engi, and scout until we hit Stage 2 shield disruption in a big open room with a swarm of little guys
our amount of wave clear was not ideal lol. We scrapped by but my god we were so close to wiping so many times on Stage 2
I did it with my friend in a duo earlier as gunner and Engi, was pretty smooth

I've been away from DRG for a while and got to try out the Autocannon recently.
It's uhh... is it just me or is it bad?
It trades focused, continuous damage, to AOE, splash damage
It's alright for me, but most of the time I just go for the minigun
The splash damage seems too low to make it worthwhile though, especially when you can get much more consistent benefit against swarms with the Minigun's Blowthrough Rounds.
That is true, then again I use neurotoxin to help with the swarms
Maybe I built it wrong and you really need to lean into expanded magazine and fire rate upgrades to get those fast kills?
I haven't even unlocked overclocks yet.
Minigun is better for general use. I used autocannon occasionally, but that after I get and tried some overclocks
I guess you can go for full AOE or full damage with auto cannon
I'll have to look at the stats again, I think last time I checked it worked out having to hit 3-4 enemies per shot with the autocannon to make it match damage with the minigun.
On further inspection the gap isn't as wide after upgrades, the Autocannon actually surpasses what the Minigun can put out (without Blowthrough rounds) just by catching 2 enemies with each shot.
without OCs I would say 2 3 2 2 1/3 would be a good build to start with
3 3 2 2 1 on higher haz
@dull yacht I believe he uses 2-2-2-2-2 with Minimal clips on M1K and a dmg build with Jumbo shells on his boomstick

and if you are running like weakpoint dmg on gk2 for solo it's bad because you usually rely on praet and stuff being aggroed on your allies
and you do big damage during that time
and yeah they will eventually buff the m1k for sure

nobody wants to run focus because very low dmg for the time it takes to shoot and hip fire is very meh until they patch it's probably better to stick to gk2

the build i posted for gk2 is much better suited for homebrew than bullets of mercy
bullets of mercy is great when you are in a team and you can focus stuff but when you solo having armor pen and homebrew makes dealing with slashers and guard a lot easier
i'll run it solo with scout and see if there is any tip i can give you

during the second stage knowing where the escape is helps a lot as it's really small and hard to see
on the third stage 2 eggs will spawn waves 1 will spawn dread
on the third stage get the egg at the bottom of the pit last
if you struggle with mini or naedocyte bring thorn instead of veteran depositor (veteran does help on the second stage black box)
on the second stage once you complete the first big room take your time pushing to the last room because there is a lot of mini spawn and it will spawn a wave behind you once you start going in

that black box was rough, damn near wiped me
i found getting to the black box was rougher than the actual box
Bosco was definitely doing some heavy lifting lol
i think the black box is hard if you don't manage cryo well and you don't know what target are priority aka if you see that menace/praet/exploder shoot it first
menace are easy enough to dodge but exploder make you exit the zone so it takes more time and the praet cone attack makes it hard to stay in the zone too
I run flamethrower, just roasting everything up 😄
but if you cryo that praet and vaporize it much easier
oh i was thinking while i was doing it with scout that driller or engi would have been much easier

it's very out of meta at the moment some number people could help you understand better why but atm it really doesn't run good in higher haz
i remember the supercooling being good when it came hard but i think it was hit with multiple succesive nerf that made it bad
also hear a lot of people complaining about hipster taking like 4 to 5 mouth shot on regular glyphids

it can be good if you build full dmg and bom but you need a decent team for that
like if you have a good team you are used to run with run full dmg with ifg bom
and watch stuff melt
otherwise the build i gave isn't stellar dmg wise but it works good always
I like running speed, capacity and armor shredding, along with stun chance increase, it works for a majority of the time, plus when times right it melts adult Shellbacks
it does have very good wave clear though with cryo and fast reload+ pen zhuks

i find ammo to not be a problem on scout primary so i don't run extra ammo since more often than not i'm the one who decides how much nitra we have
also gk2 is better used for big stuff and special glyphids

23111 is a bit rough ammo wise tho so if you ain't used to it takes some time to get used to it
honestly max ammo is almost always what I use
its just to good to get rid of most of the time
thing is 55 bullet on bertha means you are always reloading
I have 33211 with composite drums or 33222/33221 with carpet bomber
You should always be using ready for anything on AC anyway
i am but i end up relying too much on sidearm
because 55 is very small
especially for haz 5 wave
and you can't always be popping shield for every reload

I mean, really, in the end haz5 is not hard enough to justify minor complaints in effiency of mods anyway. +mag is, effectively, giving you +55 ammo anyway to start with.

The build I use is just part of my playstyle, and it works
In the end Bertha just kinda screams to me like "if you wanted ST damage, just go minigun"

use mk1 with the damage booster
if you're pressed toss a cryo and its at least 8 free kills with the mk1 alone if you're quick
willy pete shotty can also cause temperature shock for beefier things
also you don't have to slaughter a ton of glyphids, in a team if they're chasing you that's pressure off your team
waste their time and the team has to take on less at once
is there a way to report a player for griefing in a deep dive? I see a mute option, but that's it.

not exclusively to the dives. There's cosmetics exclusive to cosmetic cores and the dives are a way to get those, but not the only way. Machine events and your weekly core hunt can get you those cosmetics as well.

In EDD stage 3 that hardly connecting nest can be destroyed on all 3 anker points to reveal the egg without triggering a wave
@lunar radish it is a 3 stages long mission, each stage you have to complete 2 main objectives (such as morkite + eggs) , every time you complete a stage the first time (per week) you get a special reward, and the map is always the same for everyone, the difficulty is fixed too, being haz 3 - 3.5 - 3.5 for regular dives, and 4.5 - 5 - 5.5 for Elite, you access them after you promote a dwarf, which you will get by playing and reaching level 25, no rush.

time is your largest enemy. Don't waste it mining gold. Move quickly and only complete the bare minimum of the objectives.
if you only need 250 morkite, don't go out of your way to mine more once that quota has been achieved.

so 3 stages, each with 2 goals, like morkite + eggs
3 missions in sequence with 2 primary objectives each
resources, hp, and ammo carry over between each one.

Shield disruption can be really harsh, but I felt like the map that had it was fairly easy. If you're struggling on that map specifically spec into health for your armor and allocate more nitra for resupplies on that map I guess

The EDD from this week is completely designed to fuck you over. Not as bad as others , but just stupid. That we have a mactera problem with a ridicule amount off small spiders mixed in without the modifier telling us so. hehe thanks devs!

I think it was eggs, but we basically got swarmed in some of the more distinct parts of the cave

it's more that they are long. to complete one in less than 45 minutes is an achievement

You need all the gear unlocked for that class to play it in deep dives
they are punishing, and rewards you with Cores, which grant modifiers to your gear to improve it beyond the perk trees
there is an elite deep dive which is roughly hazard 4-5, and the regulars are hazard 3-4 or so
you just have to promote once with any class , (game tricked me ya have to promote
)
so you can play with your level 1 unpromoted driller if you already have a promoted scout for example, nah, you can't got baited
i used to do solo deep dives/EDDs as scout but after trying solo driller i've found that way more manageable
driller's extreme CC is almost vital to certain EDD setups when doing solo
and his drills provide plenty of mobility
and hollow point/volatile rounds subata against burning enemies gives him an excellent tool for taking down strong bois
is Elite Deep Dive give a lot of EXP ?

may not be feasible
maps get harder the more players you have in them. under-level players aren't simply dead weight, their presence in the lobby means more enemies with higher heath and damage. which is a problem here because Elite Deep Dives go up to Hazard 5.5 as it's the current end game area.
that's not to say that you won't last or won't be able to do it, but it can depend on how many people you're playing with and how much carrying is required.

unlimited pgl sounds great but also means lots of friendly fire and he kept on going down and left after a map lol
in the end just me and the host was left and we still made through the rest of the map by ourselves

There's a chain of reddit threads about how to spec weapons that's updated for 1.0 but because it's community written it can be hard to figure out what's actually good and what's someones idea of good. Besides that there's very little up to date resources in guide form. There's some streamers that talk about builds that are pretty on the money
It's up to you what you like to run with, you just gotta, get a feel for what the different stuff does
@sick finch been trying to play as much as I can. Been having a bit of trouble going from level 2 to level 3 missions. I always feel like I get insta 1-shotted as engineer, running out of ammo, etc

Real 1 shots are pretty rare, even in haz 5. You can definitely die in moments, but thats generally about getting swarmed and dying by a thousand cuts. The solution is usually about positioning
The secret to playing engineer is not being scared of shooting your grenade launcher right in front of you

Both are good. You’ll just end up using the BC more often since it works best when enemies are on the same plane as you.
Especially on haz 4+ and EDDs, you take less damage hitting yourself with the PGL than you would getting eaten by bugs. Other than that, BC was OP on release, nerfed into 🍞 cutter levels, then buffed back up to being strong.
Triple-line on that last tier is great, yo.
I don't play much engi, but im usually happy to see breach cause it seems to solve issues that are hard to solve for other classes. PGL is strong, but it does what most classes already do
it's satisfying to blow up a ton of glyphids with the PGL but yeah a gunner or the driller could handle it as well
I mean minigun is better for like dreadnaughts
You could run it for single target dmg on a salvage if your driller doesnt use cryo

Exhaust vectoring is viable and better if you want a different t4 mod. Better players than I say burning hell is viable, but i havent been impressed by it
lead storm is pretty much out of meta
taking the stun away from it made it go from very braindead to use to somewhat challenging
and the guide itself does a bunch of thing wrong

Brain just crapped out on me.
if you run lead storm is because you decided to sacrifice mobility for maximum dmg output so 2 on first slot is a lot more logical
you don't need extra ammo on second tier since the ammo patch forever ago and remember you sacrificed your mobility for dmg so max dmg
so basic glyphids take 20% reduced dmg guard slasher take 50% less and if you hit praet armor you do 0 dmg to the praet. you sacrificed all your mobility so lining up stuff is a bit harder and if you ever noticed bug can crawl on wall. tldr: run armor break
1 or 2 on tier 4 work but i suggest 1 because more dmg on a full dmg build is better especially since you run the faster gyro stabilization on your first perk
cold as the grave because infinite shooting > everything else on that tier
of course, there's always big bertha
yeah ac in general is a lot more meta atm then minigun
i pretty much only use minigun for elimination and even then big bertha does the job very well

ever since the smg buff made it actually possible to control its recoil its probably just as good as the shotgun now
unfortunately there's no one straight answer for that
I've been using the shotgun, but I recently swapped to the smg since I picked up em refire
comes down to preference and how well you can personally use the weapon
using 32111 with em on smg and it feels pretty nice
one could probably crunch the numbers and come up with a calculation on what weapon is the most effecient

but that's like, inplying you land every single shot
but in practice it never tends to work out that way
shotgun is more efficient in terms of ammo
but a lot of the time it's overkill against plain grunts
just try them both and use the one you like more

Finally got around to this week's EDD. Seemed very easy to me. A bit harder than last week but still.

I dont know why I overlooked that, that would definitely help with small mobs
personally I would take extra ammo over damage with the magic bullets+ explosive
Ammo vs damage I find up to playstyle
mainly because of how you get so little out of damage when you have the explosive rounds
it halves it at the end, so the 2 + 15 becomes a +15 in total :3
yeah I just do 2 3 2 1 2 with magic bullets
the explosive toxic is good enough as is
it can also take down grunts fairly well
with damage you can (if toxin works) kill acidspitter with one shot
the toxin +explosive should be enough iirc

is the bunker system pretty mandatory for elite deep dives, or can you do without them with smart play?

I played my first elite deep dive, had a bunch of failures until I played with a driller that bunker spammed. He ended up carrying us but idk...hardcore driller feels oddly unfulfilling at times
you don't really interact with the cool environments, you just kinda dig holes in or through em
that's more just a personal preference though. Heck, I can't really complain about methods after being carried into multiple overclocks
this is my first experience with haz 5 content anyway, makes sense I'd get a little rocked
Bunkering all the time feels like a crutch. They stop you from developing a full skillset and eventually you'll run into a situation where they backfire and you're forced to bail. Having bunkers as an option is great, leaning on them all the time isnt
esp as scout, scout in a bunker is extra limited

To be fair bunkering is WAY more dangerous with Oppressors
They spawn a lot more commonly than Bulks, and even a slight breach of the bunker can overwhelm everyone
Also obviously they totally ruin your firing line
