Agree with LoneG, player skill matters most.
Rng can be annoying but you can counter with a good team, with good ammo and nitra discipline
keeping a tight formation helps as well
RNG is usually irrelevant with a good team
only affects how many downs on the victory screen, and how much nitra you hoard by stage 3
Chian reviving and abuse of ironwill has ensured thus far that competant players can out wit rng.

if you can tag weakpoints with it (which once you get a feel for it, the rounds travel fast enough for negligble travel time and drop) its a 40mm slug launcher that can delete wardens and predatorions

truthfully maybe its a good idea to have one hypervelocity chad for priority target smacking at a distance that the fat boy should avoid being wasted on
hypervelocity PGL and Cycle overload warthog melts dreadnoughts too
Cycle overload is stupid fun, but I like having 180 rounds.
minishells was fun for a while because seemingly bottomless ammo
but it lacks the oof
I used magnetic pellet alignment for a while, really allowed you to reach out and get solid smacks on webspitters and such
magnetic alignment gives you a real option for middle ranges
its a flat upgrade if you have a consistent aim

I take all the fire-rate upgrades when I take compact shells because the other upgrades generally aren't worth it, like more ammo.
I do like the satisfying mouth shots on glyphid gruns
and if they survive you just bonk them with the pickaxe

You generally wanna finish the secondary objective unless you think you might not survive if you stick around

Think of it this way - on deep dives, you have to do both objectives before you can call for the pod; on mule stages, the uplink and fuel are the equivalent of calling the pod.

more seriously since nitra carries through each missions ammos are rarely a problem
just make sure to get all of it
and since the map stays the same, you can learn it if you fail too many times
so you know where the minerals and stuff are, you're faster and more efficient
otherwise for class tips its the same as normal missions really
work with your team, do what your class is supposed to do
dont avoid the gold, thats leaflover talk
grab everything thats not nailed down, take the nails and then steal everything that was nailed down

How long does a deep dive take? I usually only have 30-45 mins before work most of my week, then after about two if I want to feel rested. Just wanna not waste time with something I can't finish

What's the pros of a deep dive compared to a normal mission?

Good afternoon, can someone please clarify how scaling of the DD's works? Say for example I were to go in with a team of 3?
I did this solo as the scout and both were pretty easy. The hallway one I was able to kite back and forth, shooting him at a distance and run around the corner for the blast.
The salvage droppod one however... my first run was easy. He showed up in the final phase when I could just draw him away from the droppod and then leave easy.
But yesterday I tried this with a friend and Det came during the time we needed to stay in the triangulation zone. WTF are you supposed to do when that happens???

so yeah, I'm at a loss how to not fail the mission when detonators show up while you are meant to stay in a small bubble of space defending it. If you take the time to lure it away, you will fail. If you hold your ground, it will kill you. If you manage to kill it, the blast will also almost surely kill you. What is the solution?
And it appears like Deep Dives do not, in fact, have random enemies but they show up the same. Even the very start of this week's DD has the drop pod landing on a Hoarder, which is very cool.
I wasn't able to kill the dread in the final mission as a solo scout because the swarm that spawned was just too much and I couldn't get a break long enough to resupply
@wind bay for our run, I dropped bug repellent platforms to try to force a funnel point and drop proximity mines, staying on the point as much as possible. Our gunner was on a zipline overhead nuking bigger targets and dropping shields on cooldown. Our scout (when the detonator came) would leash the biggun and provoke his melee attack to slow it down as much as possible.
The gunner focus fired him down. He luckily has the overclock that does extra damage, but he cannot move while firing, so that helped tremendously.

in ours, he was very close and only a few seconds later we were forced out of the triangulation zone

not necessarily, I just called it out as soon as I saw it. he was uncomfortably close, but not the same as you it would seem.
when I called it, our scout and gunner immediately left, trusting I would handle the point until they cleared the big boy
thankfully, the scout would come back and drop cryo nades to slow down the trash flowing in then go back to focus firing the detonator
I wonder how hard it is to get it to switch agro. They do follow just one person but from my experience with fighting dreads in a team, they seem to switch to chasing whoever is hurting it the worst.
yes, that is my experience as well.
if you have a pimple left on the target, I found that breaking it causes enough damage to override his aggro and swap to whoever broke it
So the proper strategy would seem to be that as soon as he shows up, the most mobile person needs to abandon the triangulation zone and try to aggro the Det, drawing him the hell away from the other guy, who must solo hold off the swarm until Det is dead, hopefully far enough away that the other guy doesn't get killed as well.

I noticed when I was doing it solo that Bosco firing on it seemed to slow it down quite a lot. Wasn't sure if Bosco can actually draw its 100% attention or not though. It didn't seem to be advancing
enemies wont aggro on bosco but electricty does slow massively, along with cooling and toxins

So if you stack multiple status effects on dreads and bulks, you can slow them to a crawl

They also got the normal deep dive second stage overclock while doing the first mission of breach the core assignment

I really hate to go scout just because rando scouts are stingy af with flares and never illuminate caves

Got a bulk on each black box and uplink stages on each EDD stages this week, so damn intense, spawning on cue, as soon as you start lol
finished EDD, failed regular deep dive at the last level on fuel cells when a bulk spawned with endless exploders because of the mutation while trawlers prevented us to revive each other, bumping us just before revive ends, so deep dive was harder than EDD for us lol
Is this week's EDD easier than last weeks?
@wraith shard yes, worst issue for us was second stage, because the area with the leeches is so messed up with holes everywhere and uneven terrain, leeches grabbing you from all sides while endless swarmers attack you (there are swarmer eggs everywhere)
Other than that it was smooth
Make sure you refill your ammo before entering the EDD's second stage's main room
I popped those eggs to keep driller awake.
I think we only got snatched by leeches twice and both times leech got gunned down right away.

The strong arm perk helps a surprising amount if you need to light up walls
yeah, but it's value is limited if you have scout who isn't keeping his flares to himself
When you first descend to the pit where the pod is located, there are a billion leeches so you gotta have the place illuminated and stick together.
Terrain around dread cocoon is also kinda sub-optimal, but that's what engineer and driller are for.
Hey, it didn't bug out and say I went down this time. Never went below 50% health the last time and this time. Guess it was just that EDD.
The trick to doing the bulk on salvage is your scoot to aggro and drag the bulk away asap so your team can clear the trash bugs
There are so many warden spawns it's a bit dicey
This weeks normal dd is deceptively tricky lol
Last stage of edd get your driller to flatten the ground all around should make the black box alot easier
2nd mission of edd has a giant room fillled with tons of leeches, helps alot if gunner places a few ziplines if you get a bit lost lol
Lots of swarmers on that 2nd stage, too. Bring a good sticky-flames driller! ๐
Ye its not a bad stategy to zipline since most of the bugs are melee, some mactera but not toos many
I actually used bullet hell on my gunner made short work of swarmers
Though sticky flames helps alot too
One trick you can use at the end of mission 3 on edd is to save resupply when you drill to the extraction pod
Then you can get o2 while waiting in the driller tunnel
Just make sure your engineer plugs the tunnel as you climb back up
Thinking about it, not a bad idea to bring auto cannon maybe

We almost wiped on stage 2, we got hit with an ambient swarm the size of an actual swarm shortly after breaking into the main cavern
Engi went down, scout went down before he could pick up engi, and I went into iron will about 2 seconds after (3 person team)
I just barely had enough time to pick engi up and drop a shield for them before going down
Rest of EDD was pretty uneventful
I never really valued the speedy revive perk until we started doing harder difficulties. It really makes a difference.
Indeed, faster revives and maxed out iron will can save a team when things go very badly.
man edd2 is a bit of a bitch

It can deal good damage if you stack the right mods
It pales in comparison to the warthog generally and is only at all viable with specific builds
otherwise it just feels anemic compared to the warthog

I would use flamer + subata driller
Personally I only take the autocannon when I suspect there's going to be lots of swarmers or it's mactera/exploders. Everything else is minigun.
I can solo it with Scout no problem Feelz, done that with previous EDDs as well.
5 on mine, 3 of them on defense sections
Rush the objective, ignore everything else.

By far the trickiest is the 2nd stage with all the leeches and steep cliff
I slept over this EDD and wondered if I entered DD by mistake

4 Eggs, 1 Black Box; No mutators
3 Mini-Mules, 150 Morkite; Exploder Infestation
the DD wasn't really noteworthy except for stage 3. One giant fucking cavern with a ton of stuff to kill.
we also had a few bulks spawn in during the repair
got a couple bulks as well
ended up having to eat one of their explosions to keep it off the fuel cells
over at reddit people said that on EDD bulks also spawned fairly consistently, so it could be fun to try cryo + carpet bomber

Lasts was pretty easy though? (compared to previous to it two weeks which had lethal on 2nd and 3rd)
well i wasn't playing again before last week Xd so it is all the reference i have ;3;
Reason I ask is I have a relatively new player friend who did the DD and I am wondering if this weeks EDD is good to show him exactly what a challenge is without overdoing it. And also that I just wanna know cus I curious.
Stage 2 of EDD was pretty hectic, we got a double bulk when we popped the dread egg and burned so much ammo getting things under control. And then even more for the two pod events

The trick if a bulk spawns on last part of salvage is to get your scoot to immediately aggro it away from the fuel cell/uplink
Then your team can focus on clearing the bugs 
If the bulks gets really close you're in for a bad time 
First time I did the EDD we failed the uplink because a bulk crawled out of the pod right next to us
they need to fix that
at least have it dig out of actual rock
I believe whoever is doing the most damage to the bulk will receive aggro
So let your scoot pop the boils on the bulk first
But ye a few weeks ago had that issue too lol
No one luring bulk away, walks up to fuel pod, boom evey one shot lol
you can still recover from that in some cases, if you have cryo cannon or grenades you can freeze the bulk and kill it
I accidentally messed that up when I was doing the regular DD, I forgot I had incendiary on my boomstick and I unfroze the bulk when I double tapped it to finish it off
I wish that People using fire dmg wouldn't counteract freeze lol
It should at least do something extra like flash thawing should inflict more dmg or something
Sometimes people just need to be more aware of what's going on though
Like when the scout throws a cryo at a group of enemeies I've been hosing down with a flamethrower
And it does nothing
First level of the EDD was easy
How was second level lol 
I screwed up, forgot it was cave leach cluster and got a little too bold
I just got whittled down too much while trying to clear the leeches
that second level is bullshit
it really is, even me and my friend barely got anything done without getting overwhelmed
oof this does not inspire me to do the EDD
Just YOLO it at least for the blank core
Haz 4.5 isn't too overwhelming if you can do Haz 4 reliably
But yeah, Stage 2 usually kicks in hard
it really isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be
I think I only went down once and that was because I screwed up avoiding the dread.
the defend portion is in a relatively easy to defend area
Once you've cleared out the leeches and brood nexuses, it's not bad, yes
But it's a very convoluted room that's a pain to move through, and you're trying to clear the nexuses and leeches with constant ambient swarms attacking you
died so many times to the 2nd lvl of the elite now, messy room
"Leach above me, care!"
kills two leaches, starts rezzing, gets grabbed by 3rd leach

God, the second stage of the EDD absolutely blows
Defending Salvage stuff with up to 2 Bulk detonators, in a massive room with shit terrain, an insane amount of leeches, and multiple swarmer spawners
What's the point of EDD if you can't finish them? I'm curious. Deep dives are a fun activity, but banging your head on the wall is not fun.
Theyโre for veterans of the game. Donโt feel bad if you canโt do the EDD, most people canโt. As long as you enjoy DDs thatโs all that matters
you get the similar reward as the dd, the edd is for vets so they can get more faster
It's supposed to be hard, even the veterans don't complete it everyt ime
deep dives take me two or three tries at most
they're not hard just tedium
unlike normal missions where I am more liable to play risky because I want the gold/crafting minerals/whatever, deep dives you just slog through and they're done for a week
gating special rewards behind deep dives does not help players enjoy them though, the whole implementation of deep dives were to make them a weekly chore along with assignments

Elite Deep dives are skill gated, and it doesn't stop you from getting OCs, the only stop from doing deep dives is the promotion requirement, other than that, nothing is stopping you from winning an edd

Deep dives are definitely lack luster in my opinion. There isn't enough "wow" or anything special about them except rewards.
If it wasn't for OCs I wouldn't play them.
I don't know what the devs should do to make them feel more unique, but I definitely think something needs to be done..... maybe instead of having 3 disconnected caves by a loading screen, which is no different than playing 3 normal matches. Have one singular cave with a ton of branches and dead ends with 4-5 objectives.

Raid type bosses, and jump puzzles, and environmental effects would be amazing.
yeah tho jump puzzles would be hard to implement given how everything can be destroyed

a simple DD usually takes around an hour, depends on how long you enjoy exploring there
there's only nitra and gold to collect, as well as those that come with objectives
speedrunners tend to be happy if they get under 30mins, I think

No shield on the first one, morphite and black box
Second is cave leech swam, with kill 1 big boi and mini mule mission

and everytime I do a no o2 I'm reminded that it's just a chore to slog through.
I think having some kind of o2 mineral commonly in the walls would make it much easier to go through. Basically red sugar, but for o2.

Difficulty is not the problem. The problem with that mutator (in its current state) is the large amount of time doing nothing when you could be mining and progressing the objective. It doesn't increase difficulty, it just makes completing objectives a chore.

Makes you adapt and change your strategy from breakneck speed at all times
I think it would be much more reasonable, then, if you had a shorter o2 supply, but it recharged nearly instantly when you approach a source
and then to balance point extraction you just make aquarqs give off a little bit of o2 so while you're carrying one your supply doesn't deplete
there would be a lot less brainless waiting by mules, but it would draw in the effective radius the squad can cover away from the mule

I think low o2 would work better if there were "gas pockets" on depression parts of the map
but that would require gas mechanics to be implemented

I think that having non-mule/resupply sources of o2 when not absolutely necessary would kind of lower the intent behind no o2

Probably Scout
Maximum personal evasion, and Bosco is an infinite well of shock bullets
Also Pheros allow you to delay hordes for precious dozens of seconds
Just remember to build Bosco for maximum damage and slot an extra revive in him in case you get in trouble
both are ok just pick whichever is more fun
How do you mod bosco?
damage talents with the 3 revive talents and cryo rockets
or you can do rocket recharge build
depends on how good you are at kiting a swarm
I feel like hoverclock lets you get some amazing angles for grabbing caps and flowers off walls

And if you get surprised by a Bulk on Stage 2
Since Bulks only aggro on you and the second objective is in a really bad place
And for loadout I'd say either Rifle/Zhukovs for max versatility or M1000/Zhukov for picks

Clean on Zhukov, clean on rifle. For M1000 the perk that gives you super good focus shots is preferable
Remember to build Zhukov to have the accuracy perk so you can use it to clean Glyphids at a reasonable range

I mean I play h5 exclusively, got 400 hours, and run fully upgraded promoted dwarves on h5. I don't feel like the mode will be manageable without IW now.

Honestly? Yes. Or you need to find good teammates. I've been running experimental haz5 shieldless and lethal enemies missions. 0 downs is still the most common result.

In general, if you were already getting 0-2 downs on Haz5, the iron will nerf will not change anything.
If anything, it might actually be a buff.

You also should realize that I do take deliberate steps to influence what my teammates look like
I don't just take any garbage that comes down the chute.
And if I do, I consciously decide that it is a risk I'm willing to live with.
Specifically the enemy behavior, as I rather often, even on lower difficulties, encounter damage that appears unavoidable.
Unavoidable damage and fatal damage are not the same thing.
They can be, in my experience.
There is probably unavoidable damage, the question is if it's greater than shield strength, or if it happens often enough to chip through health before the next resupply
Unavoidable fatal damage that's solely from RNG is blue moon, 1 in 500 games stuff
The rest of the time, it's just a slow roll failure that's entering the final stages.
The immediate thing that ends up killing you is a result of some mistake you made 1 minute ago.
Or you already lost at the loading screen before the mission started.
And the thing killing you is just the instrument of a larger dynamic.
The sad thing is you're saying this to someone who was recently removed from the pod by a Mactera grabber before he could exit and then dropped onto said pod from a fatal distance with a full team unable to do anything about it.
Players can die from freak accidents. Teams don't.
I personally am not concerned about any individual player's fate including my own as long as we win.
Indeed, the mission otherwise went fine after that. Doesn't change the RNG kill with nothing I could do about it.
Freak accidents like ninja dets or grabbers can kill players. But you don't get a team wipe unless you've allowed it to happen.
It's also on your team to react quickly enough to grabbers.

I think that's a bit condescending, with RNG being as it is there is totally situations where you can team wipe and play it perfectly
RNG team wipes exist but are exceedingly rare.
And usually are just actually combinations of paranoia or preparation checks.
I'm sorry if this sounds pedantic, but my mentality comes from playing Darkest Dungeon, XCOM, and other RNG dependent games.
RNG can fuck you, it's true. But the vast majority of the time, it's your fault for getting sloppy, cocky, or just ignorant of certain mechanics or possibilities.
You can either blame the RNG, or blame yourself, and file away that particular scenario for future reference in order to learn to deal with it.
With the right mentality and enough experience, you would need multiple, terrible RNG rolls to actually lose you the game. The vast majority of losses do not come out of the blue, they either come as slow rolls where you've be slowly losing a battle of attrition, or you made a critical fuck up in the planning phase and the game just happens to serve up a particular scenario that you should have known was possible but didn't prepare for.
I'll stand by my original statement, that it'd be interesting to see what your experience in the game is like given what mine has been.

majority of the time people complaining about RNG screwing them have just mismanaged resources or strategy
occasionally you will well and truly be shafted by RNG but that's the whole nature of the procedural game trying to throw random situations at you, some are going to be more difficult then others

Grabbers can also (1) facespawn, and (2) wallhack. Both of which significantly increase their corresponding frustration.

Most of my solo EDD wipes have been from stubborn grabbers that just wouldn't accept that I was shooting them.

Just tried the EDD as solo scout. I was doing fine until the blackbox. I was nearly complete with the uplink when a bulk spawned on top of me, and then too many waves of swarmers to keep up with. RIP.

The double barrel is pretty okay in a pinch
Blowthrough pellets can deal a lot of damage to tight clumps and the built in shockwave does some more

Nope, it's not pheromones, it's me. I got wrecked on the second stage (but no bulk on the first stage).
Blowthrough will give you better damage against medium targets but shockwave will delete nearby swarmers

What I did was put sentries down before entering the room, or cave, fight off swarms while staying mobile and beware of the leaches. Try to repair the mules first, then kill the dread after. If you can, meaning if you survive that long, try to bunker with the uplink and fuel cells, it'll take some hassle out

Okay this sucks. My friend and I actually made it to the very end of the Deep Dive today and were holding our triangulation zone with some 400+ Nitra saved up. We put down resupply pods here and there to make sure we'd be okay. Things were going well. It was in the bag. We even had Pots of Gold going so well over 1200 gold collected.
Then.. A frickin' Detonator spawned right on top of us!! There wasn't even any warning. Right there in the final chamber. He killed us both before we could even decide who had aggro to draw him away. Very lame.
There is a five second grace period before it starts attacking, but that sounds very unfortunate.
thing is we survived the first one. Barely. It was actually amazing my buddy managed to kill it while I was down. Overall, I'd say this week's DD is quite doable, except for the final det that lands on top of you while holding the uplink.
Det spawns are random and not consistent with the seeds
I've had them be consistent with deep dives before
like, showed up in the exact same hallway multiple times. And then the one which killed us at the salvage droppod. The variation was slight, but they were mostly the same. My first one showed up between the uplink and fuel cells so that was nice. Could draw him away. But then the next one came during the uplink, which sucks because you are pretty much toast.
If you got trouble with bulks, get as much CC on them as possible.
Electric stun makes them so slow that they might as well walk backward.
I think we straight up ran out of ammo during the uplink phase and couldnโt shake it once it spawned.
3 of my mates got downed on the link and I couldnโt bait it far enough away before the uplink would fail.
Itโs too bad that it instakills the mission if it goes back down to 0.

it is. it's incredibly fun, and quite efficient. costs you some single target though, and can lead to bad habits like not bothering with aiming.
exhaust vectoring is another great one. with t1 accuracy it's not that much of a hindrance, but DPS boost is very noticeable.
use clean overclocks or compact feed mechanism
for better dps try elephant rounds on revolver

Lots of perks are worth using but the perks are less of a always good choice and more class specific now. Jump boots are amazing with engineer, kinda pointless on scout for example. Only perk I think ill have on all classes is brambles.
