see it's not that they launch you, I can deal with an environmental hazard. It's that you can't stop them, so if you go back and forth along an area the vents are just unavoidable. Glacial has the same issue with it. At least the magma geysers and steam geysers can be destroyed

You could take area damage tier 1 instead and basically just use it as a conventional +ammo -damage that still lets you jump around, but that nearly breaks your shield with one jump

Honestly? It's what it's best for. It hurts your damage a lot, but it's still usable vs Grunt groups, and getting Scout level mobility isn't to be underestimated. If you just wanna spam PGL, use Compact Shells.
