Granted sometimes the timer bugs out, or has started from when they picked the mission in the space rig (where they dicked around for a while). But if there's a mission it would be possible, then salvage would be it. Enemy spawns after you send Molly to the drop pod really slow down.

Mining explosive charge on a spear. Effectively another way of doing platforms for scouts trying to mine things in the wall. but also good for getting those mining away at those ceiling deposits.
