there is an easy way. Sometimes the drop pod tunnel goes all the way to the hardened granite etc up top. We noticed it particularly in salvage. You'll want one driller and the rest engis. The driller drills up to the hardened stuffs, then the engis platform up to the top. If you need to dig the hardened material, place a platform on it, and mine the platform. It turns a 4/5 hit mine into a 1 hit mine.

@civic swallow I would disagree with the idea that driller can't survive solo. Vamp + Berserker + Iron Will + Ice Cannon = Nearly immortal due to Drills counting as melee attacks. Its more or less a meme in the group I regularly group with that I will be the last man standing in any H4 or H5 swarm, and always make it through to revive them all but the first to go down in a dreadnaught or Mega-exploder fight.

So I can honestly freeze a group for 10 grunts, driller through them, the power attack the group beind them, killing all mentioned in about 3 seconds, and heal like 60hp in the process
And with the weekend runner perk, you can out run 90% of enemies, so its pretty easy to play the kite and group game, so these situations are easy to engineer as a driller.
