They have global scaling for enemies based off of certain criteria.

The update is pending certification. The process where they make sure DRG isn't going to disrupt Xbox Live services, or that it's not going to access the firmware of the Xbox in an undesired way. They said it was being held-up by one guy that was part of MS cert team, because he was at E3. Now he should be back, but who knows, may still have his thumb up somewhere.

Just to clarify; the 1-2 weeks Jacob mentioned is what the wait time under normal circumstances is between our update release on Steam and Xbox. Poor timing with E3 as well as engine issues in the certification phase is what has caused a delay. Microsoft is back from E3 and on the case.

It's been 79 days since the Horrors of Hoxxes update dropped on Xbox, and 39 days since the Explosion Expansion update for PC. Microsoft has to have more than a handful of people working on sending updates through. Especially for a game that they personally endorsed so the PS4 wouldn't get it.

People seem to be under the impression that the issue is just waiting for Microsoft to approve the update, but I've been following this chat for like a month or two now waiting for the update, and they said a couple times that there were issues with how their engine interacts with xbox/uwp, so I don't think it's as simple as Microsoft being unwilling to say "Yes, this update is good to go." I could be wrong, but it seems to me like there's actually an issue with the engine and uwp, so Microsoft is hopefully doing all they can to fix it but in this instance it's not as simple as people seem to think it is and will probably take more time to resolve.

You are partly correct Pepsi man. The reason why we cant get through the automated system is because UWP and Unreal doesnt work well. This causes the UWP version to throw errors (which have always been there, and doesnt have any efffect) but now that the system is automated, it isnt being let through. So MS is trying to do something, but we dont know what, we just wait and mail them to ask how its going

Unrelated, but I know UWP is generally just horrible at holding a connection in fullscreen mode (disconnects on tab-out being a basically unavoidable thing as far as I'm aware; even Microsoft's own Minecraft has that problem), but (at least on the current patch) my friends sometimes have trouble joining my game when they're not running in windowed. Is this just unavoidable because UWP is whack or is this a known issue?

I usually play in fullscreen and don't have issues (for whatever reason on Deep Rock I can even tab out and not lose connection sometimes), but I also usually host for my friends, so idk if I would have an issue joining. It doesn't seem to happen for all of us, but windowed mode usually fixes any connection issues they have. The only other connection bug we've encountered is the lobby being dropped when loading into missions sometimes.

Btw, I know this happened a while ago but thank you for fixing the bug where if someone was dropped from the room (which happened sometimes after an unsuccessful join) occasionally you'd have to remake it because it would think the room was full still. That was an awesome fix.

I have noticed that disbanding and promoting your dwarf prevents people from joining afterwards.

The UI gets stuck on your screen for joining but you can't interact with it and you can run around with it until it resets your lobby with "Multiplayer Session Ended" and then breaking your server list.

The only problem with that is I don't think Xbox's crossplay API extends to Steam. All my friends and I have PC now so it doesn't matter, but back in the day the reason we got the windows store version was because a couple of us only had Xbox so the crossplay was nice.

Plus the windows store version is cross-buy so if you get the xbox version you get the windows store one too and they couldn't do that if it was only on steam

If they could just make the steam version cross play that would be ideal. I played the steam version when it was free and loved it, but then got the Widows version so I could play with my GF who only plays on xbox. Needless to say the windows store version was a big step backwards compared to steam with the amount of bugs and disconnects, and I already had friends with it on Steam I had to give up playing with to be able to play with the person I wanted to play on Xbox with.

Microsoft has an api that makes it really easy to make uwp games on their store cross platform [https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/xbox-live/get-started-with-partner/get-started-with-cross-play-games]. With their recent support of Steam and their integration with Nintendo, hopefully it can expand to make it really easy for Steam games to be cross platform as well. It's not like crossplay is impossible with steam games as-is; it's just really really easy to do for uwp and would probably be more difficult to do for steam than the devs want to do. Maybe it would be worth it to not have to deal with these uwp issues though 🤔

So Wargroove is a great example, Wargroove is sold on both the Windows Store as xbox play anywhere and on Steam, but from what I could research there is no division between those two PC versions and their crossplay with xbox1 , switch, and eachother

i play on my pc with my girlfriend and we've never had any wierd bugs or crashes. maybe a disconnect or two when she is on wifi

@round elk I guess the issues I have on Windows store version that I never had on the steam version are how it disconnects you when you alt+tab, and every once in a while we'll have the game drop 2/4 players every 5 minutes or so until we change hosts. not tied to any particular person hosting.

@tropic bone They said yesterday that Microsoft automated their approval process recently, so the harmless errors that used to be manually ignored are now causing it to be denied by the automated system, so Microsoft is trying to find a way to let it through the now-automated system despite the errors.

They said it's specifically a problem with UWP (Universal Windows Platform), which is exclusive to windows store apps. I doubt COD and Warframe are on the windows store, so they wouldn't have this problem. Also they don't use Unreal Engine, which they cited as being the cause of the problems.

Despite how long this update is taking to come out, I'm just happy that the game is super polished, very replayable, and has a very sizable amount of content, I think this is the only game I can say does not even feel like an early access game it's so good overall. Love the developers of this game.

Had the game for about a year.. it gets better with updates

(Just be glad you didn’t have to lose progress when you promoted a dwarf.. I remember those days)

I recommend it to anyone/everyone I play with on TF2 and other games that have a community I can talk to and anyone who need a a good co-op game.

Great game, especially for early access. The developers are some of the best that I have seen in regards to community involvement as well as being transparent about the majority of things. It took me about a day of playing for a few hours for me to buy the Supporter Pack, which I literally have never done for any other game. I've bought the game 3 times in total, Steam version, Windows 10 and Xbox and managed to get a lot of my friends to buy it, haha. Although only one of my friends actually play it actively with me, but I really appreciate the cross play, because most cross play games are pretty terrible.

Even after all of these hours, I still have a lot of fun playing it and I can say that getting crazy cave terrain is sometimes really awesome as I don't see it too often. Usually only happens on less complex caves though, which is weird.
