Once the update has been sent to Microsoft there is no way to know exactly how long until it starts appearing for download. It's been pretty quick before, a matter of minutes, but it has also taken hours in the past. All that can be said for sure is that the devs are sending it today after their workday begins, and there's probably a good chance they'll update us when they do to give us a rough estimate

Yeah but on Series S/X there were still framedrops when someones joining and you are not the host, when dreadnaughts spawned you get hard framedrops and randomly on swarms spawning. Also sometimes on Drop Pod coming in.

When patches get sent for cert, they aren't necessarily being looked over by MS for game/performance bugs and issues like that. They are basically only looking at system and service compatibility. They want to make sure that it correctly registers achievements, and gives the Xbox pop up on screen, that the game works seamlessly with the Xbox party/invite system, that it doesn't have any incompatibilities with Xbox system OS functions, game thumbnail displays properly, works with quick resume, doesn't create any security loopholes for the OS, etc...

MS has no real concerns about the actual game experience or bugginess, etc. Just that it plays properly at the system/OS level. With different platforms offering all different types of services, features, achievement/party systems, it can take time to adapt it for each system. If the game fails cert, it goes back to the devs to troubleshoot and test for fixes to remedy the issues, make sure it doesn't cause new unintended interactions with gameplay, and then the cert process restarts. Not to mention the cert teams don't work 24/7 so the length of time it takes to complete also depends on the day/time the build was submitted.

run through all your settings to make sure your display is indeed on 120hz, that your TV supports 120fps, and that your xbox still has vrr turned on, because mine likes to turn it off every once in a while and bug out that needs a power cycle to fix

I can't visually tell the difference between 120hz performance mode and manual on 40% but manual on 40 and 50% give me a consistent 120-90fps. I have the series S, wanted an X but that was back when you had higher chance of turning into a jet and flying into the sun

You need the install location. It won't be in AppData. You can find the install location of any game in Steam by right clicking and selecting Properties

The instructions should give you every step. Just follow them precisely.

Make sure you've loaded the Xbox version at least once, to have it generate a save file. And I recommend turning OFF the "Hide extensions for known file types" in the File Explorer Options, but it looks like you've already done that

Short answer: no.

It is not impossible for someone to set something like that up, but it would not be easy.

I also have to caution about moving back and forth a lot; the ability to move the save files between version is an unofficial feature. It could stop working at any time, and or cause problems for your save files. I highly recommend making backup copies in case your save gets corrupted

Personally, to avoid issues, I've only moved files in one direction, from Xbox to Steam. I just abandon any progress I've made in the Steam version when I do play there as that's less often. Xbox is my primary save, then, and I've never had any issues

Another bug, found a inf damage glitch with the boomerang. If a scout throws it then leaves the game it just keeps bouncing. Somebody did it in an on-site refining and the grunts kept dying all mission.

I do. I usually play Haz 3 solo and on my first rockpox mission, I got annihilated.

Normally I don’t struggle too much but definitely noticed something felt off on that mission after going down.

Actually I feel like I do recall in the most recent instance that did occur. To walk over the fire. We did knock out some of the platform near the thing, and we eventually got it each time.

So, for the devs, I think the kick option should be removed.
My reasoning for this is that alot of the missions I join the host will kick everyone right before the main objective is complete, and it feels like that option lead to more trolling

They're probably not going to remove the kick option. If you find yourself being kicked that often, you can always host your own missions. You can't be kicked if you're the host

I'm still going to petition for it as it would leads to less trolling on the windows 10 version, I also think shared friendly fire would be a good option to have. With a system of if you down your teammate more than 7 times out of 5 multiplayer matches then you get shared friendly fire, that would remove trolling, along with a system to warn you of the people who just kick you at the end of a mission. Shouldn't be to hard to implement, and would bring the games overall fun rating up. It's no wonder this game has a player retention rating of 9 percent. Yes it is a fun game, but they don't remove huge aspects that make it unfun. Fortnite has a much higher player retention, not because the game is better but because they don't have these issues.

I play alone 70 percent of the time because of these issues. I go to multiplayer to get that coop experience, and it is ruined most of the time because of said trolling.

I host, or my friend does, and we usually have 2 random folks join us every mission. We've rarely had a bad experience, and when we do we're thankful for the kick button to get rid of someone who is clearly trolling in the mission by either team killing or running around and starting all the events or simply taking all the ammo.
This kind of behavior has been exceptionally rare for how much we've played, but it does happen. When it does, it's nice that there is a remedy. Being the host would eliminate the issues you're experiencing, and when you do run across someone being a troll, you'll be glad you can kick them...

Would be more simple to have these systems put in place for the community. If someone is not hosting there is typically a reason. Whether it be poor system performance(with constant crashes because the game isn't very optimized.), bad wifi, or just needing to leave to go do irl things. I mean, no amount of dev work for any game can fix social problems. Removing a tool to deal with social problems is not a solution. There are currently no servers for DRG, so they have no way of keeping track of the behaviors you've mentioned. Your proposed solutions are not trivial to implement.

I admit that as the game has grown it seems it does not work as well on last-gen consoles as it used to, and that simply sucks. I'm not sure how much can be done to improve things, but the one thing I am sure of is these devs care and will do whatever they can to improve the performance situation(s)

One thing I will say is that this is likely an issue with many games that have ongoing development after launch; games outgrow the hardware they were originally developed for. I'm not sure there is any good solution to this problem.

Fortnite might be able to solve it by having a team in the hundreds or thousands working on it, and making more money than I can possibly comprehend, but DRG has neither of those things. GSG is a small team doing their darnedest to make something great, but it'll never be comparable to games like Fortnite.

No one wants you to be frustrated with DRG, and I'm certainly not intending to be rude so my apologies if I've come across that way. I'm only trying to offer information and a practical solution that could help with what you've experienced. Your reasons for not wanting to host are understandable, but some of the ones you mentioned can be remedied by the user

I'm not sure the plans exactly, but the devs have looked into it. Xbox used to make it difficult to add achievements once a game launched, so that is why we never got the newer achievements. Hopefully they'll be able to add them at some point

Yep, that is weird. I can't begin to guess why that would be. You could try restoring a previous Save File, to see if your Save File has become corrupted somehow. It's a good idea to back up your current Save File, and then you can go to the Restore save menu in the Options menu in-game. You should be able to select one of a few previous cloud backups

Why aren’t steam players and Microsoft players compatible? Why can’t we play together?

One of the biggest reasons is DRG multiplayer is not at all designed for it.
DRG uses peer-to-peer networking, instead of servers. In order to establish the connections, DRG relies on each platform's own networking functionality (i.e. Microsoft version uses Xbox networking, which is why Microsoft Store and Xbox console can play together, but Steam uses Steam networking to set up multiplayer). Accounts on each platform are not naturally compatible, and since DRG doesn't use servers there's no way to make them directly compatible.
The other reasons are the Steam version is slightly more advanced because it isn't restricted by console limitations, and the separation allows the small dev team to work efficiently on each version in-house

I'm sure most Steam players would prefer to stay separate if having cross-play means losing the all the advanced features (cave generation, mod support are the big ones) to be compatible with other versions.
Honestly, the only versions I can ever see getting cross-play are the Sony and Microsoft versions, since they have equal features already. But Sony doesn't care much for sharing, and it would still require a way for accounts on different platforms to talk to each other. It would still be a ton of work to redesign everything

Everyone can agree it'd be nice to be able to cross-play if it came at no cost, but it can't possibly come as no cost. At the very least, updates would likely take way longer to release, and if things break they'd probably be broken for longer on all platforms

And every version would have to wait to get updates at the same time to maintain cross-play capabilities, meaning Steam would have to wait longer for updates and could not receive immediate hotfixes if something broke.

I mod games quite a bit. And in past experiences unless everyone has the mods even If you are able to play the game together you will see the mods and other players won't. For example, if you have a mod that adds more enemies and your friends don't it will likely end up with them watching you fight and die to invisible enemies. In certain games where the servers are player hosted all players that join that server end up auto installing the mods

I am playing the Xbox Game Pass for PC version of the game and most of the time I am unable to play multiplayer. The icons around my portrait on the top left of the screen to invite people are missing and if I try to do it through the pause menu there is no response. I can see open servers in real time so it isn’t a connection issue, but when I try to join them I just get an infinite joining box. If I attempt to accept a game invite nothing happens at all in game unless I click disband team then it puts me onto a green screen with another infinite loading box. I have tried hosting public games without a password and my friends aren’t able to see them at all and I haven’t had anyone join either. I have tried “verify and repair” option in the Xbox store as well as uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail. The strangest part is that occasionally I will be able to open the game and have no issue getting multiplayer to work but that has been like 1 out the last 25 or so times that I have played. Any suggestions?

Check your Windows system time. In Windows Settings, Time & Language, Date & time, make sure both "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are turned on.
An incorrect system time will cause multiplayer to not work

This sounds like a crash that a few others have mentioned in here, but without enough information it will be difficult, if not impossible, for the devs to find the cause and fix it. There is no workaround that I'm aware of, and I don't think they've had a ton of info to go off of.

Filing a report is about all you can do right now, as it's after work hours and going into the weekend; the devs won't be around until Monday morning European time (UTC + 1). When they get into work, they do check this discord if they can, but it can be hard to find reports like this here after a few days. I'd also suggest checking back in around then to try to follow up with them, if possible

I want to start saving my gameplay videos and use them to learn editing. Maybe I'll upload to youtube. My issue is that I do not own a PC or Mac. I play on a Series S and I only have access to an iPad and an iPhone. No external memory that works with either.

The record feature on Xbox is limited to a few minutes, or stream to twitch. I cannot find a way to download my clips from twitch via browser. Too many search optimized sites with outdated information to get any decent answers.

Any ideas on how I can go about this, that does not involve record the clips via twitch and the screen record function? It's gonna be my last resort if I cant find a better way.

If you own it from Microsoft in any way (bought on console, bought from Microsoft Store on PC, currently have Game Pass) then you can play on console or PC. If you only own the Microsoft/Xbox version, you'll have to buy the Steam version if you want to play it on Steam

The DLC should not be an issue, but having played with mods might be. I've not tried any mods myself so I have no idea if using any mods can alter a save file, but it is possible that mods change some part of a save file. Since there is no mod support in the Windows version, it wouldn't know what to do with any data that relates to mods in any way

I think I might have mentioned this before, but I had an issue last night where I got UE4 errored out of a game on my PC (not the issue) and I couldn't rejoin the guys I was playing with. This happened once before when they were playing in a mission and I had just booted up my computer. I also have the game on an Xbox S, so powered on the console and rejoined the party, but it would not let me rejoin the game. Same scenario when I tried to reconnect from PC. I could invite them to play with me, but they had no option to do so. This was consistent on both the Windows Store and Xbox S versions. I believe this is something on the game-side after someone crashes out, or maybe a setting (working as intended) that I'm unaware of. Please advise.

I was following this quite closely for a while, as I was skeptical given the lack of a comprehensive solution built into Windows for so long, but, unless things have changed significantly in the past year or so, you should be fine with just Windows Defender and using safe practices

Yeah, these days it's not uncommon for 3rd party antivirus solutions to be hurting your performance and/or harvesting data on you, and all for little (and possibly no) additional benefit

I would do a lot or research before adding one, and the research I had done was telling me that it wasn't worth adding one

Granted, it's very important to keep Windows up-to-date, in this case

I think in all my years of having Webroot, I haven't had a single incidence of something being flagged during a scan.

Microsoft is also going to be harvesting data on you, so it's not like they're completely different about things, but you're pretty much going to have to make peace with at least that much to run Windows....

I use Microsoft as my antivirus/security since it’s free and they patch quicker then most for certain viruses and malware

I just booted up SoT and it runs pretty darn smooth now
