How to Make Hair Appear in Front or Behind the Face Based on Head Turn?

Hello,
I have a problem and would appreciate some help, I couldn't find a solution sadly.
Please keep in mind that I’m still very new to rigging, and I am sure there is an easy solution that I just don't know about.

I want the pig tail to appear behind her face when she turns right - so you can see her cheek-, and in front of her face when she turns left.
However, if I move the pigtail layer behind the face layer, it will always stay behind her face, even when she turns left.

Is there a proper way to do this?
Maybe there's some kind of mask or technique I can use to achieve this?

I would be very grateful for your help.

Inverse clipping mask

Make a copy of your face and change the opacity and move it to hide the hair when needed and move away when the hair is in front

Oooh! Thank you. That seems like the easiest solution.
But there is nothing like a mask to do this sort of thing too right?
