#Layering help

It depends on what the rigger prefers
The two most common ways is underfill and separate lines per part
I don't have a rigger yet, and I have no clue what I am doing despite watching all sorts of videos on making and separating a model.
I feel so lost QnQ
Underfill is when you make a solid color under the color layer
It's just a different technique
Ohhh.
Separating the line art per part in general is good practice if layer count isn't an issue
I am using Clip Studio so it shouldn't be. But now I am unclear what needs separation and if I need to start over.
can you believe it, another video ?!
today we are tackling the dreaded SEPARATION (maybe not so dreaded) but! i tried to explain separation to newbies and show different techniques and styles of separation so you can figure out how to separate your model better :D i also added in a breakdown/guide of how i separated some things on my new model,...
This might help
At 9:30ish
Do you mind if I show how I separated my bangs and side hair? Just to be sure I did it right?
Sure if you feel more comfortable with that
yes please ^^
each curl on the side parts are separated too. I want to be sure I have done everything right before further separating L and R
highlight is on it's down layer btw
This is what it all looks like together. Horns are separated already
That looks fine! Underfill might be more useful for bangs specifically because the rigger can control how many hair lines will show when the head turns, if that makes sense
The side hair won't need to be changed
How did you separate the curl on the side hair that's below the face?
Perfect!
That is literally so beautiful, whoever you ask to rig will be super happy seeing this
Oh thank GOD I was so worried! I am trying to make sure everything looks like. I have no rigger and no clue what to do and the hair is just about the only things stressing me out
Do you mind giving me examples of what I should do go the bangs?
Also should I merge the color and linework together ?
Lemme hop on to Krita or Sketchbook to give a loose example of what I mean
Thank you
Apologies for the delay, my parents came back home and were debating on going back out when there is a thunderstorm and hail
This is very basic but it kinda shows how underfill might look
Lmk if this is helpful, or if you want more examples of how it might work
The swapping of layer order at the end for the line art is to show how the line can be visible when rigged on head turns
Oof, does this mean I'll have to start all over on the bangs?
No it doesn't
It's a simple fix (I simply duplicated the layer and changed the color, you can probably do similar)
Ohhh okay! So does the underfill have to be the same color or darker? Is it supposed to be the shadow?
It's still "line art"
You can also do it as shadow, but this is specifically for lines
is this right?
Yes
Thge brown hair looks like a shadow for the blue hair though.
Am I missing something crucial?
For you, use the regular hair color in the blue layer
