#how to rig/layer/cut to take advantage of vts scene lighting?
38 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
having an idea so its mostly research phase, checking if its feasible, hoarding tutorials etc
This is a vts thing XD
I did it using VTS, with 0 L2D knowledge before hand. you can select which "part" doesn't get affected, like the eyes.
oh damn , i actually started typing this in the vts support but then i was like no, i'm probably missing layers & rig skills first 🤣
You just need the part to be "isolated" or disconnected enough to look good. I don't have great technical terms here hahah
You mean like this right?
i'd like the eyes to pop more but yes, this is 99% what i was imagining
That entirely depends on the coloration of the "part"/ lighting around the model
The eyes here are brown, which isn't a flashy color generally
VTS allows you to choose how "dark" you want the effect to be.
Could add an airbrush a piece around the eyes that toggles on when setting the scene as well that's not affected by lighting that gives a glow vibe
yee that's what i thought might be needed first but thank you! will do some investigating on youtube and vts first before i add unnecessary work haha
yeah I had it pretty bright plus the window I was using was kinda medium lighting
👍
If I was home id show an example of my model, the eyes are bright and they pop out a lot when in "dark mode"
combo of settings and existing artmeshes
all good if you wana come back to this thread when ur home if you want to give me an example, it would still be very helpful
i see, i see, thank uou, this is a really good example for me because quite frankly. vts scares me more than l2d does
VTS quite simple, just a bit of messing around, testing stuff haha
There is also some YouTube vids on how to do the "glow" on VTS, it can work with any model that features well placed "small parts" like eyes, hair strands/streaks, horns, cheek scales, etc
awesome, will definitely go fossicking for those later
30 and 31 are the irises, they are seperate from the eyes themselves. The lower the slider is, the less a part gets affected by scene lighting.
just gonna pile some tutorials to look at later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg__K4rEp20&pp=ygUbdnR1YmUgc3R1ZGlvIHNjZW5lIGxpZ2h0aW5n

This is the one I watched hahaha
ooh that makes sense, cutie dragon is really good
yeah that tutorial is short but contains i'd say everything you need to know
it is too, nice, because i was meant to go to bed 5 minutes ago lmao
lmao
hehehe i'm glad i am currently sacrificing bedtime for vts struggles
the green looks bad that's not what the intended idea is however dw, like i said, research phase
You can make the lighting match your screen, which is how I use for some "dark mode" games :)
If I see light, model is lit
I enter a dark room, model goes dark
yeah i just discovered i can sack the green by pressing it but i wanna make a clumsy vtuber cover of a song i like and i want creepy girl vibes for it
this looks much more in line with the visions™️ i was having without any of the extra effort i was worried about \o/
and x'ing out the menu immediately made her green again why
