I’ve been commissioned to rig this model, but I can’t really see how I could rig the mouth with the split in color in the face. The artist hasn’t drawn the mouth yet either, any ideas on how it could be cut and rigged?

I can think of two possibilities:

  • have the skin over the mouth be coloured normally and being VERY careful in the rigging process to keep it aligned
  • have one of the colours in a clipping mask to the face, perhaps duplicated and clipped to all 3 pieces (two layers of skin around mouth and face colors layer) and glued (so they stay aligned)

Oh, yeah
If you go the second route, I said 3 layers because I don't think having only one of the other color clipped to 3 layers would work - I'm around 90% sure it would show over the inner mouth and that isn't something you want!!

Also, that art style and design are so fun, if you're able to contact the artist at all, I would appreciate it if you're willing to forward that to them!! (Not forced)
