We are only really just starting to get into the fine tuning of features of the game - so I would honestly expect a lot more changes/options made available to characters to adjust how the game looks (Graphic sliders, POV etc...)
Edit: not really fine tuning of features. They are still focusing on making new features of the game. Most fine tuning will probably happen around the A2 or B1/B2 stages of the development.

Alright lets see how i phrase this question. Lets say we get up an human settlement and it goes up to a metropolis and unluck X raids and Y encounters and Z facilities. And after a while an Orcish horde attacks the human metropolis and wins. What would happen if the orcs somehow decide to go for the same civilisation options as the humans did. Would that open up the same X Y Z specific raids and changes to the nearby places or could raid X be replaced by Raid K even tho the advances are the same?
A bit long and complicated to read but i think its an interesting thought to know
i think the opportunities that are developed are only dependant on geography and what development the node is at

Yea its just an random idea that popped up during dinner, as it could be interesting to see humans has certain types of events while for example orcs has a very different effect on the areas quests and raid diversities

I was reading about race-specific quests last night, and i remember these 2 statements standing out to me,
Quests may be based on a character's race.[112]
Different quests may relate to who the primary cultural contributor is to a node. This won't lock out content, but will add flavor to the quests.[112]

It's not like the game is race vs race to begin with.
Orcs and humans can work together.
So while I understand your concept/idea, it's fundamentally flawed in the sense that unless all the orc players gather a scenario like that wouldn't happen.
So my impression is that there may be some unique quests that depend on the racial influence of the node, but not many

@ashen jetty SO, to actually answer that. Nodes are static across all servers. Things that open up with them are as well. The orcs in that equation are more than likely not going to get anything up to where it was previously because of the ZOI (Zone of Influence) from other nodes. Meaning that if it was a tier 6 node and got sieged, it's destroyed if the siege is successful. This then allows tier 5's to race and get to tier 6 that were under the original nodes ZOI, which then increases the other nodes that were under whichever one that gets to 6 first by 1 (so 4's can now become 5's. Keep in mind that every node has an umbrella and cannot increase if certain things are afoot).
So no. You might get some stuff back depending on whatever tier you can get to, but you more than likely will not get the raids or dungeons back.

Theoretical Question: Since Sanctus is a "no magic" world and Verra is a "high magic" world, would a item made using Sanctus' laws function in Verra? For example, matches for lighting fires are made (on earth) with white phosphorus - if such a match were taken to Verra would the reaction still work or would the "High Magic" laws of Verra render the properties of the match to make it useless? (As an aside would the components to make a Sanctus match even occur naturally in Verra?)

also will they be a large deciding factor in the defence/siege of a city?,because i feel like flying over the battlefield on a dragon breathing fire on everyone could become overpowered?

@karmic bone Royal Mounts can affect the outcome of a siege, and will be tuned to be strong. Though we don't know the extent of this.

Will we be able to adjust camera angle on our characters? An example such as Black Desert Online where you can use the directional arrows to center the camera exactly how you like
I noticed the default angle of the camera made everyone look small and almost make the area around the character insignificant, where if we could adjust it closer and slightly to the side or above the character, it makes it more personal between the player and the character that's being controlled

There are no different server types planned, they will all have the same ruleset. That being said, there is sure to be a push by the community for "unofficial rp" designations.

Not being a citizen of a node won't hurt you at all, but you won't be benefitted either

Religions provide the augments, not the node itself
However a religion's abilities may be tied to the temples they have in a Divine node
So citizenship may not be a direct requirement for the augments, however the members of the religion will probably gravitate to divine nodes so they can carry out their service quests there
Has there been any mention of spider themed mounts? Like a big spider you can ride or something like that?
@pseudo eagle There were several spider creatures shown off during one of the livestreams, so if they are tamable they may be able to be made into mounts. That was not confirmed though, just speculation

Yep, there were some conflicting statements and things that were made public during testing that caused some confusion. But it was clarified to be what they had originally stated. Housing, then citizenship is the order.

@low lantern any housing except appartments will grant citizenship.
Apartments also give you the option of declaring citizenship, it is not automatic, you have to choose.

A player does not need to declare citizenship of any node. These players won't need to pay taxes but will miss out on benefits of citizenship.[12]

Are caravans intended to be launched only from village node+ or from any point of storage. Are personal caravans different in that they can launch from any point of storage but mayoral and quest caravans can only launch from nodes

Is there markets or auction house in every city?
No, only in econonic nodes that build them
Marketplaces can be found in any node type, but the Auction House is specific to the economic node
I believe non-economic nodes can have a local marketplace built. But it is only relevant to that solitary node with no linking capabilities. There is also going to be player stalls that can be built by mayors to help facilitate trading.

Hi everyone, how will servers work. I know there’s a 10000 player cap in each one but will there be multiple server options in each region for when the cap is met?
Yes, there are going to be multiple servers.
Launch might be a bit hectic as there might be a chance that there won't be enough servers for everyone and new ones will be generated to accomodate.
Also, it is currently set to 10,000 ACTIVE players (concurrent) and up to 50,000 registered players to each server.

There is not a reason a player can't own a house and also own a Player Stall in the same node.
Can a stall be upgraded? For example a player owning their own auction house?
Auction houses won't exist aside from an economic node metropolis.

We don't have the fine details of a lot of the systems, just the broad vision based on the dev interviews

Yes, as you can get legendary crafting materials from the same place you get the full item drops (bosses). You then take those materials to the a friendly crafter and they make gear on par with dropped gear

Node wars are just diplomatic statuses are they not? As in, puts two opposing nodes at war, and flags their respective citizens as combatants automatically during the war?
Okay, so a siege is like an open event and a war is a closed event?
You have to register to attack or defend during a siege. So it's a little more involved than just being in the area.

From what I understand of the system it only flags a node's citizens
However, you could make them flag for combat and attack

Old packs will not return, and the developers can remove current packs and/or change them. If they do, they have stated they will give us plenty of advanced notice.
That being said, the cosmetics in the current packs change monthly, and you can get notified of the dates in the #news channel

found this comment on youtube on thelazypeons new video... I was wondering if the AOC team has any plans to combat the mmorpg jumpers greed for content. It's a legitimate comment and I thought stealing it would be a shame so linked an image. Any opinions on the comment are fine too, I don't know much about wildstar, so could be a complete miss of a comment.
I think that applies more for the PvE, but there's so much diversity that can happen with the PvP and the wars for nodes etc.

Yeah definetely applies more to PvE, and as a PvP player I'm not even a little concerned... just thought it could be another aspect to think about when it comes to creating an mmorpg. Since the mmorpg jumping is pretty new phenomenom and is mostly caused by the fact that mmorpg's have been very unsatisfying. I love the quick responses.
@signal cedar In addition, to have played Wildstar and followed its development for years, I was super hyped and I enjoyed the game a lot at start. But even if I always seek difficult content, they probably went too far. For instance, they gated the first raid to a crazy amount of challenging pre-requisite (https://i.imgur.com/NaNBVbE.jpg) that could take weeks or months if unlucky, and this pushed a lot of people away, including many members of my guild at the time, keeping a very small core of very hardcore gamers. The game was mostly PvE so obviously, did not help ^^

How much info do we have on naval combat and the impact of seafaring on the game in general? Is there a source I can read on somewhere for that info?
I recently learned that boss difficulty in open world encounters is adaptive to the strength of groups, and that if you kill a boss quickly, the next boss will be harder and have stronger loot. How does that work with multiple raid groups killing a boss? If raid group 1 kills the first boss slowly, then tags the final boss, but raid group 2 does more than 60% of the damage they get the rights to the loot, does the loot table reflect raid group 1's strength or raid group 2?

hey if i understood correctly, a lot of raiding and bosses are open world. Does that mean if two guilds fight the same boss (unplanned) they both get loot? or the group with the highest damage for example gets the loot? I guess I'm asking is it meant to be competitive or cooperative
Right now it's highest damage, but that's likely to be one of the things most heavily scrutinized in the A2 and Betas
Same goes for castle sieges where it goes to highest damage

@lone magnet it's just a single island and most of it is pretty barebones. Most of A1 is just stress testing the servers A2 will likely have some more and hopefully we'll start seeing nodes and NPCs in the Betas

@velvet spear Control of the castle for the month goes to the guild leader or designated lieutenant that completes the final area cast. It is not damage based and any of the guild leaders participating in it can backstab as they see fit.

Casting time is diminished based on on the number of waypoints captured during the siege.[9]
There's an opportunity for any guild leader in the attacking alliance to capture the castle for themselves, despite what may have been agreed upon prior to the siege.[38]

So quick question and concern with Ashes that we are finding out after deep diving nodes on our channel. So with nodes it’s based on activity right and with lack of activity they de leveling so with probably one of there most important aspects of the game is dependent upon activity and population how much of the game are you seeing will count on that too? I mean every mmo counts on activity but the systems in AoC are really seeming to rely on a lot of activity to make it work? I Want the game to succeed and so I just want to know if you see that hurting the game in the long run being mmos do have content draughts in them and population drops.

that means that whether you have 10k or 3k population on a server, node requirement for leveling/deleveling etc are dynamic & will adjust accordingly.

Question: Was poking around the AoC Apoc stuff, and saw on the wiki that alpha 1 access and pack-holders would have lifetime access to the legendary paths (the battle passes for each season of apoc) without having to pay the money to unlock each battle pass. Is it a fair assumption to say that even if you weren't at those levels before, if you manage to upgrade yourself to those packages, then you'll get the lifetime access to the rest of the legendary paths, even though you missed the first one for the apoc test that already happened?

The Alpha One Key you can win from the Glorious Gourd Contest would be for the full Alpha One in April, but you never know! If things are going well with our preview tests and we need more testers, we may extend that out to more folks. 
I want to get a Voyager pack to get Beta+Alpha access, however I am not a huge fan of the skins this month and would like to wait until there's a set I like, but don't want to miss out on the chance to get Alpha+Beta keys. Have they confirmed how long that they are offering the monthly beta and alpha access?

You will also be able to change out your skill points in city or freehold. You will not be able to change out points in abilities "on-the-fly", this was said to be done to make people decided at the beginning of a session what they plan to do, rather than being able to stop and reallocate points in the middle of a dungeon or raid run.

If I remember correctly, in Apoc you could shoot from really far. They were testing both projectile which means you’d have to time it perfectly for a moving target and your shot could have drop

That was explained in the post when they recently split the channels into regions. Currently there is not enough demand from other regions in their opinion to justify that.

Well it definitely helps with categorising the different guilds of different regions. However considering how there will be an Asian server, I would be expecting a guild recruitment channel for Asia guild as well. Without one it's kinda hard to reach out to people of that region

We'd be splitting hairs on the specifics, but for me a planned out PK w/ the intent of disrupting the enemy in a specific way would be assassination whereas ambushing someone just b/c they're in the wrong place at the wrong time would be ganking. For me, if you know a specific player is leading and shotcalling a team of defenders so you go and specifically hunt him down behind enemy lines you could argue it's a tactical assassination.

It’s not a contribution thing. To take a castle you channel on the final objective a 2 min channel to take it

My understanding is they are looking to increase the cap to 500v500 for Castle sieges if they can get there from Technical Constraints point of view. I could be wrong or we just don’t know but no where have I seen Steven or a Dev say that Node Sieges will be capped. I don’t know everything though as we are pre-Alpha and thing are constantly changing

250 v 250 is the current castle siege 500 v 500 is the goal for siege for castles
The reason Castle Sieges are capped is they want it to be more of a Guild vs Guild (or Alliance vs Alliance) thing whereas Node Sieges are Attackers vs Defenders as Guilds can’t own Nodes (with minor caveat around Patron Guilds of Nodes)

You can't go to different servers at all, each server is unique
if you make a character on one server, a guild on one server, or anything else, you cannot go to server 2 with those characters/guilds if you're on server 1

Lineage 2 you were only able to have 1 maybe 2 summons and thats it

Unfortunately I really doubt they will bring the summoner to such an extent. I just can't see them rationalizing one class spawning 10 minions with each their own AI and animations.
I imagine a summoner being able to specialize in one type of summon, be it support, dps or tank. Not all three at the same time, not at a high level anyway.
i hope Summoners are really fucking hard to play, so all the summoners chew their own face off when playing it

I think it would be really cool if some class combination (Mage-Mage, Mage-Rogue or Cleric-Rogue) would really reward skillful play, but punish if you try too hard and fail. Flying ever closer to the sun in search of power but go too far and you crash and burn.

Higher-level nodes do not erase the low-level mobs. New, stronger, mobs just appear there as well.

@keen scaffold I don't think you'll be anywhere with just you and your friend on launch day. Plenty of people will have the same idea, to branch off from starting areas. So it might not be a huge amount of people but there will most likely be others sharing your idea

There is a stealth mechanic. It is more like Predator than 100% stealth.

If you are familiar with the movies, there is a kind of shimmer effect. It is not 100% invisible.

As stealth being a skill, I don't think it's something another archetype will be able to have.
As defined in the rogue skill tree anyway
It may be an augment
Like Fighter/Rogue, Charge: Turn invis for 5 seconds or during charge, ect
But augments only affect your skills, they don't give you extra skills
So for you to get that same "stealth" ability, is probably unlikely

See, I was planning to make a mage or a rogue, I love aspects of both of them, especially being invis & doing magic stuff. If mage was able to go invis, I'd buy the 350 package x-x

Imagine if you own a Freehold, and the node gets sieged/destroyed, is there an estimate on how much you lose in general? I know someone who's really interested, but the fear of losing stuff and the general thought of world PvP is a big downside for her
i remember there being a main focus on node achievements and node resources being lost as well as your apartments
