In the upgrade you'd only get the new cosmetics though, like if you bought Wayfarer now you'd get that hat, and whatever package you upgrade to you'd get everything except the hat equivalent

There will be some basic controller support at the very least since Unreal supports it by default, we haven't gotten any confirmation or denial that they'll be doing anything more specific with it at the moment

i think those 2 were only talking about the controller support, not about a console release since there is a reason why most mmo´s dont release on console^^
Even with the new ones, they r way weaker than most pc´s and wont be able to handle a 250vs250 or ~30 skills on the Skillbar + the other 'buttons' to open the menus, so dont hope for that to happen 😄

From what we've been told, helping to advance a node will clear you of corruption too. Basically you have a choice to either die, or grind mobs until the corruption goes away

The plan is even to continue to run them after launch as public test servers. I would assume that during beta, more public test servers aren't really necessary, so I guess that they won't be important during that time. Maybe they do even decide to stop them during the betas, because keep in mind that the betas are supposed to be "short and sweet". A reason to let them run would be to let users who invested a lot of time in these servers continue a little longer there.

@granite sun becuz Alpha 2 will be running for a quite a long time before the betas start, as they are going with a more traditional style beta. meaning they weill only be like a weeklong test, the betas they are going for are last minute tests to make sure everything is up to par for launch, they will not be month long beta tests

I think that the nodes can level up based on the races working on them, so if one race gets them to stage 3 and then decide to migrate elsewhere, another race could come in and finish the upgrade to stage 4 with a different racial influence

While speculation is great for the imagination, please do not give answers unless you know the official Intrepid line. It just causes grief later when those people that got the answers then quote their wrong answer from here as fact. Node architecture changes based on the contributions of race at each stage. It changes from stage to stage. So you could see Nikua at stage 3, Pyrai at stage 4, Vek at stage 5, and so on.

They are account bound and usable on a single character at a time. Think of a closet. You take the skin out of the closet, put it on a character, when you are done with it on that character, you put it back in the closet and then have another character take it out.

Then that is speculation for discussion. The problem lies in that people take answers they get from here that they want to be true, then go other places and use those to start "discussions" that reinforce bad information. Then people get frustrated because it takes them forever to find a real stance from Intrepid. The wiki or Ashes101.com are good sources if you don't know something. They suck up literally everything that is known about the game from official developer statements, interviews, and media. As in guarantee, nothing is ever final here. Answers can and do change at the whim of the development gods. But this is meant to give people the best shot with currently known info.

There are no plans for server changes initially. They may allow a paid server transfer later down the line after launch. There are also no plans to add changes to player choices like race. Only cosmetic changes through a barbershop system have been mentioned.

The main issue with server transfers in AoC is that a lot of items are unique, so if you had a legendary sword that is unique to the whole server aka there can only be 1, and you want to transfer, but the server you're moving to already has that sword on the server as well, then you can't bring that weapon with you since it would make it so that there would be 2 on the server now. So, as Talents says, if transfers become something they allow, you most likely wouldn't be able to bring anything with you. At this point, you might as well just level a new character on the server you're looking to move to

I'm not 100% sure I understand the question, all MMOs have some grinding aspect to them. The legendary items will require some level of grinding, you'll need to kill rare world bosses or raid for the materials

Mh, well, I think that's a matter of perspective. Do you consider going around looking for gathering nodes to harvest to be brainless grinding? In that case, AoC could be considered to have some, yes. That being said, if it's not an aspect of the game that interests you, nothing is forcing you to do it. You can always commission an other player to gather and craft for you, and focus on other aspects of the game. Most of the items won't be bound to characters so you can trade them around and leave the grindy stuff to others

@spark lark That's very unlikely because races are supposed to influence the base stats of your character. Some classes are also said to be more "efficient" with certain races. But of course, everything is subject to change.

@small solstice Nah I'm pretty positive that they said you have to be flagged to be hit by AOEs. Attacking someone flags you, if the party members didn't attack anyone they won't get hit. They also won't heal their flagged friend accidentally without opting into the PvP im fairly sure

There has been mention by the team that you can put more skills into a tab targeting ability to make it an action/active skill. Does this give us an option to use either option of the ability?
Example: Fireball: 1 skill point = tab target, 2 skill points = tab target and 3 skill points = action skill.
If we have 3 points in Fireball, do we have the option to put both the Action skill and the Tab Target skill (same cooldown possibly between both skills targeting types) or does putting 3 points completely remove the option to use the tab targeting option of the skill?

You must use the digital template provided in its original format and not alter it in any way in order for it to be a valid submission - perhaps the clearest way I might be able to explain in accordance with the rules is "you may color inside or outside the lines however you wish, but do not color on the lines!"
This is to ensure that all folks who enter have an even playing field to start from and they're able to be judged more clearly against each other in terms of creativity/originality 😄

@grim fossil the rules have been clarified. You're allowed to draw and recolour both inside and outside the lines. What you're not allowed to do is move those lines. So as long as the original lines are still there, a submission is valid.

Does the game currently have anything in place to prevent massive Guilds from controlling all the content like we saw in all of Classic WoW? I am concerned that very large, 900 person guilds will be able to constantly maintain power thru funneling votes, dominating resources/PvP, and ensuring that 1-5 Guildmasters/Officers constantly retain the elected positions of power. The only real counter to this, as far as I can see, is yet another massive 900 person guild

My fear is that, down the line for each server, it will go from 500 guilds to 250 to 100 to 50 to 4 then finally to 2. I have seen this take place in nearly every MMO I've played, where the smaller guilds have no choice but to join the big guilds otherwise they'll never be able to experience some of the content because these big guilds have locked it down for themselves

The whole server will not rise up. Put enough heavy pvpers in 1 spot and they can control stuff. Was like that in archeage. A guild of 100 could kill a faction of 1000s due to most ppl not fighting. Was the theory in archeage with player nations. They were at a disadvantage due to low player cap, but in every case they controled everything.

The whole map is planned for release. Portions will be be released during testing. For example, what has been shown so far of "alpha island" is a starting zone and 3 nodes. The terminology for what we're calling the current testing under NDA has been all over the place, so it causes confusion.

Alpha 1 starts officially for everyone without NDA sometime near the end of fall
Current testing is the ramp up to Alpha 1 which we refer to as pre alpha most of the time.

Embers are used for in-game purchases. So when you get in-game you'll be3 able to use them, but you can't use them to buy current monthly cosmetics

@limber girder This forum post seems unnecessary. Clearly the originator of post fails to grasp the concept of combat in AoC.

First of all, it should take 30-60 secs to kill another player in a 1v1 scenario so the idea of being able to kill someone before they get a chance to respond is unlikely.

Second, there is no stun locking. Stuns and other forms of CC will be limited and not be able to chain in a manner that would lock someone out of combat. He also seems to think that there is no flagging system for pvp, which there is.

They need to do more research on topics already well covered before posting. As for what is meaningful or not is up to each individual player, whether that meaningfulness is positive or not.

My country doesn't support PayPal and its insanely hard to get a debit/credit card with international transaction turned on/available in my country so I had to struggle quite a lot to find a way to buy one of the pre-order packages, and I finally found a way. Through Razer Gold (certain game shops here sell Razer gold pin codes). However, I just realized that if Intrepid stops using razer gold as a method to pay them, I wont have a way to pay my subscription fee to them after my pre-order subscription time expires. Do they plan on keeping Razer Gold as a form of payment or do I need to start looking for an alternative?

That would be a developer post and most likely one for customer service. <speculation> Once they get the right people hired and onboarded, Xsolla, their current payment processor is slated to be replaced. That said, they already developed their own solution for water, so I am not sure how much they would benefit from that. They of course could look at how it is implemented and see how Epic approached it. The usability for environment artists is very good, so maybe they do benefit if they copy that.

That sounds about right. You can always add the $375 pack to your cart and go to checkout, and just don't complete the purchase. It should tell you the full price at the checkout screen

the EU simply has an directive, that sets a Union wide minimum VAT tax rate of 15%.
Going above that is within the discretion of each individual country. Poland for example is 23%

In case you live close by the German border, you technically would have the option to travel there, log into the German web access and purchase it from there.
This should save you about 20 for the 250$ pack or 30$ for the 375$ pack as Germany has set the VAT rate to 16% temporarily until 31.12.2020 as a temporary measure to boost the economy under the covid-pandemic. (Mostly helps auditors, tax consultants and CPA consulting firms, but that's another topic entirely)

Hey, so, this question is mostly for a dev or crew member as I don’t expect anyone to be able to honestly answer this outside of maybe a content creator. So, with 64 classes how can you guarantee the possibility of them not going like 4 or 5 meta picks and all others being useless. What steps are taken to make sure every spec/class/combo is viable for those who wanna do certain things in the game?
