I have a question about PvP/PvE in open world, cant find answer in wiki. When you die, and choose to respawn, where will you respawn? In town(like in L2), at a obelisks that are placed in abundance around the world (like in wow/archeage), or else...? Will you be able to choose where to respawn (eg. in guild hall or in town), or not?

Last I heard, there was no choice of respawn. You respawn automatically at a set location nearby (graveyard/spawn points). If you die at a point (camped per se) you will respawn at another one close by to help prevent that. The spawn point MIGHT be a city though, or a "graveyard" out in the world.

I mean, many good games were ruined by spawnpoints being too close (e.g. max lvl player being naked can just endlessly spawn, if the spawn locations are literally 500 meters away from each other and pester people forcing them to go corrupt)

The starting island might be actually built with the respawn nodes - Alpha 1 players could possibly tell you if it was not covered under NDA on how spread out they are. But test island could also not be a real representation of those respawn nodes. We aren't 100% sure what their intent is for spacing on them.

Because western devs nowadays are so obsessed with griefing as in "spawnkilling newbies", even tho it is a very niche pasttime for a less than 0.001% of players. And they tend to forget to the real issues, such as wellbeing of intermediate and highlvl players. E.g. like in Classic WoW if you got into conflict with someone at a farming spot near cemetry, it will become endless sh1tshow of resurrections in order "who tires first". Or baiting ("peaceful" nonflaged player steal resources and provoke players to flag, then his friends come to kill the victim).

Ashes is definitely going to be more on the hardcore side of MMORPGs than the casual side, but it's definitely something you can get into and play just fine if you have the right mindset.
Make sure you research the servers before launch, some servers will be more "hardcore" than others so you may want to avoid those ones

Gathering points will appear in different places. Some gatherables will be unique to those parts of the map. So you may only find "Fire Flowers" in Desert areas for example

@crystal beacon we dont have any dates really. Alpha 2 start date depends on lots of factors. How well Fall 2020 Alpha 1 goes, how quickly they fix issues, how quickly they implement new features and fix those. Then take the servers down to do some overhaul most likely. Then once stabilized with new builds and maybe hardware, plan for alpha 2. Id say Q1 2021 would be too soon for all that to happen successfully.

That said by the time the game is realised will a full and detailed out line of race, basic classes, and any other permits character creation choices be realised? I don't want to make a character only to decide something else fits me better then i have to delete character restart.
If you want to stay with the lore of ashes then you could say any information a person would know about them self wile hiding from the corruption is what you will know before realise. So race and basic skills but no information about verra is know.

Everyone here would probably tell you no. Objectively however, it's possible that circumstances would make it so that the game flops before release. I highly doubt it, but if you're not comfortable with the idea of spending money on a product you're not 100% guaranteed to get, then I suggest you simply keep an eye on the monthly updates as the game develops and wait until much closer to release to invest ^^

In that scenario one had a cape and one didn't. I was wondering if the armor with the cape was leveled up and the one that didn't have a cape was the starter version of that armor. Your attack animation will match the skin. Ride a brew bear, get bear attack animation, even if you put it on a tortoise.

It's massive in scope @mellow breach and Alpha's (1 & 2) can last around 6 months, Beta 1 & 2 can sometimes be shorter, if Ashes beats Winter 2022 then all testing has gone extremely well.

Hello, I don't know if this has been asked before, I honestly been playing WoW for years and have always played druid, and have been staying in the game because no other games if any mmo at all has druids as a class to choose from, are there any possibilities we could get druid to be a class in Ashes? I know there are a whole big list to choose from, but I see mostly they are all thought around "gladiator-like" styles of classes, like super combat focused ones, I do like that there are bards, but I would honestly love to have the possibility to play druid on a new game, mostly a new MMO. Not necessarily the shapeshifting aspect of it, but the looks, background, type of spells they could cast. I think they could also add a lot of flavour to the world. Thank you

@harsh moon Graphics are still placeholder. That was also mentioned in yesterdays stream. They will look at how the underwater environment looks and make a decision on it over iterations.

I'm sorry if this question doesn't sound legit, but one of my problems with most MMO's is "recycled assets" and yes, it saves on time making "new things". If Ash's of Creation finally does an expansion will it try to only recycle relevant assets? (example, maybe there's a demon that's meant to be "reoccurring" but i won't have to fight a pig that's just a different color of a pig i fought before). Sorry if this is in your FAQ's.

You will recieve emails with all the necessary information and download when its time for you to test.
All alpha 1 testers will be brought in when Intrepid is ready to open the gates, the exact process will be explained by them.
Alpha 1 stopped being sold just before reaching their desired tester cap of 10k players.
So they are planning for their desired cap
More information will come as we approach the end of fall so keep an eye on #news and emails.

@empty fjord About the freehold skins. I have also asked about that a couple times and have been told that they are still waiting on final plans from design. Once they have those, they will be able to let people know what specific building types they go on. The lava one that you talked about earlier matches the same layout of a couple previous ones. Looks to be a shrine. Might be part of the religion or astronomy profession but that is speculation until they say for sure.

If you can have a fire wielding orc, then you can have a dwarven scythe wielder. Both are equally reall

the motions required to use it as weapon are not somethings peasants had expertise with. To use the sharp edge you need to get it around and pull towards you. It's horribly inefficient when it comes to using force hence why they were modified to war scythes. This is so they could be used as a stabbing weapon, something which wasn't hard to use
even then to get proper edge allignment while pulling is difficult af
