the question was rather about interactive content like that,bc I red about storms that destroy nodes before. So there are some examples what I meant: there is a top level blacksmith making the best stuff, and he made a superrare legendary sword that has the best stats but comes to live and becomes a boss itself, or a breeder doing the same but with a mount, or some bosses only spawn when there is a progressing guild that has a lot of nodes under their control

@crystal beacon Currently the only two things that destroy a node are player initiated siege events and atrophy. Monster coin events may damage services which can then be repaired after the event, and not during siege declaration. If you have a quote about weather events, please link a citation so we can update that information, helps everyone out.

You cannot buy into Alpha 1 anymore. Purchasing access to that phase is currently shut down for the time being. The earliest thing you can buy as of today, would be an Alpha 2 package from the store. Which is an unreleased date.

so, about free holds and buildings in nodes, as I understand it you can build processing buildings in freeholds as well has having a mayor "choose" to build them in nodes. If I don't have a free hold and they node's mayor doesn't build the buildings I assume I can't process raw materials?

I know there are are restrictions like @simple ether has mentioned in his videos that you cant make a town full of taverns but not sure on how the mayor of the city comes into play for how many of what structure can be present
Yes, new mayors can change the buildings in the node.
If the citizens doesn't like the current mayor which built useless buildings for them, the next mayor that gets elected can destroy the buildings and construct new ones.
Conversely, elect a bad mayor and he can destroy your infrastructure.

@digital tangle taxes occur much like in real life but if you are in a different tax zone different taxes apply
so if one city node has higher taxes and your have a home there you are likely to pay higher rate than someone else with a node that is lower tax rate
it would be interesting to skip over to the next node to do your stuff to pay lower taxes but live in the bigger node area
It's not likely, you will pay the rate of your citizenship, and you can only be a citizen of a single node at any given time
the taxes could also occur differently depending on how they implement the other aspects for instance in the new world preview they had each region have its own governing official and their own tax rate. they haven't said it is going to go that way but it is a possibility

if you think of taxes much like the united states where i'm from each state has its own tax rate for purchases and other things so there isn't a real solid answer until we get how taxes play into things
if you can go to a neighbor node to sell for more profit with less tax would be realistic
these mysteries are what makes me excited for the game it will hopefully have a fluid economy where you could send a caravan to a node with high resources and bring it back to a node with high sell point or something along those lines

You will lose the house/apartment and you will have a cooldown to collect said goods that were in the home. But not the home itself, say similarly to when you lose a freehold to damage from a siege, or the raiding event after the siege.
A house inside a node has the ability to be upgraded with the node while it levels, but it's not something the player has "built" but rents from the node.
Not to say you won't have the ability (because you will) to sell the house later or put said house up for sale before it is taken back by the City/node.

So... while i love the entire double class setup and very variable ways of playing characters. isnt there any actual 'enchanter' playstyle? i dont mean the summoner/bard combo where you boost up your summons, im talking the tactical guy in the back who controls the battlefield, and only truly shines in group combat. im super excited for this game, but i hoped so badly i'd finally find a way to play that style out without being a healer or bard.

@neat tinsel There's no mechanics to revoke a player's citizenship. However, there is a system to add a player into the enemy of the state list. I'm not sure if you can add your own citizen into the list, or only a citizen of another node. I also do not know if you can add a player that is not a citizen of any node.

Costumes aren't, so assume that most things will not be.

As far as I remember it's either chosen from a list, or auto named. Otherwise we'd have a lot of Dicktopias, amongst other things.

@honest solstice Yes, this was confirmed long ago. If you put a wedding dress on a male it will become a tuxedo and vice versa.

@neat tinsel Mayors cannot ban their own citizens, and the "enemy of the state" option increases in cost for each person added. At a certain point it will no longer be a viable option to just try and ban everyone without a good reason. It does not stop them from entering the node, just makes them KOS by node city guards.

We don't have a firm answer on that yet. They will be killable during a siege. And other npcs have been killable in the testing we can talk about. My first corruption was from killing a random npc who was just walking down a path minding her own business. I believe it is something they will look at during testing and how the community reacts. If people are constantly killing the town guards, expect them to get uber.
Cant be asked to search for it since the search function here is super weird sometimes, but when it comes to day and night cycles (if it exist) does it support ambient lightning so we can see shadows form and disappear as it turns to dusk and dawn or does it go even further with plans to support ray tracing?
If you look at the latest "leaks" on their Instagram you can see examples of dynamic lighting and shadows on the aquatic mount and from the campfire since those screenshots were during a night cycle.
As to ray tracing they have said they are looking at it, but no final decision has been made.
There is a day/night cycle in Ashes of Creation. Different monsters will spawn at different times. NPCs and mobs may be awake at different times of the day. Different emissive effects may be more prevalent on night creatures.

Yea that's fine, would be fun to know if it is planned to get added so we could estimate if we would need to upgrade the setups. But thats still far off.

Got a question regarding classes. Lets say I pick tank and my friend picks fighter as our main class. Then, he picks tank as his sub and I pick fighter as my sub. We're both categorized under the same class, so will we have the exact same abilities..?

A Tank/Fighter is a Knight. A Fighter/Tank is a Dreadnought
Your primary archetype gives you your skills. So a Mage/Summoner and Mage/Fighter will both have the "Fireball" spell. A Summoner/Mage or Fighter/Mage will not have the fireball spell.

It's possible if there are basic warehouses in the nodes at that point. It would make sense that stage 1 and 2 nodes have at least 1 warehouse, but I'm not sure if we have it confirmed.
What I was thinking was what if as soon as someone gets in the game they start gathering or something and run out of bag room, what options are there in the first hour
Since level 1 and 2 nodes are basically indestructible (can't be sieged, only destroyed through atrophy) it would be possible to created "safe" storage in those areas, creating a loophole in their "sink" and "risk v reward" mechanics. Doubt you will see any sort of storage in "wilderness" nodes outside of the siege system.

So I've been curious as to how the interaction between people needing gear repaired and the crafters who can repair the gear will work. Do you have to give them your item to repair? If so, what's to stop them from taking the item and running?

About the siege summons, we need 8 summoners for one, does that mean 8 double summoners, 8 primary summoners, or 8 secondary summoners, or a mix between those? I mean do secondary summys count

If it was not the case i guess you could have a siege wall and a siege summon with 8 player or 2 siege summon with 8 conjurer
your party doesn't have to be just summoners, but it has to be one with a summoner as the leader with the other 7 summoners in it. You could party with 10 people, but you would still need 8/10 to be summoners.

@crystal flax when you gather ressources you will have a bar with a red spot like the one in this image. If you trigger the gathering while it on the red you have a chance to crit your gatheri g and may give you additional ressources, a rare one, or other "cooler secret things

like a bit of silver ore (epic grade rarity) when you farm iron ore (common grade rarity)

Yes, The QTE mechanic shown above was part of a PAX build. Feedback on it was less than favorable and that type of mechanic was removed. There are calculations going on in the background when you gather that have a very small chance of giving higher tier resources. The "hit E to gather" mechanic shown is also placeholder. There will be some of that style, along with other types of gathering that are not just "run up and hit E"

By a crit stat? No, more of an overall chance sort of thing was my understanding. Not based off of anything you are doing, server metrics. But that is just what they mentioned in the livestream. And as always, testing may have them go another way.

@west bloom yes there are guild forming before the game is released. However I should point out that there are guilds that have been formed because of other games and want to pivot to AoC and that channel are for those such guilds as well as new AoC guilds

You have to launch a personal caravan from a point of storage as it stands currently. May be possible to launch it from your freehold, go around gathering, then bring it all back to your freehold/node. Risk involved though. You can also use a mule mount as well for extra storage @royal summit

I'm curious about what is to stop Corrupted players from being immediately killed by their guildmate-alts-friends and have the stuff they dropped handed back to them. Or trading all of their possessions before getting killed, so they don't risk dropping it on death. Assuming they are max lvl and won't suffer from xp loss.
You don't lose exp, you gain exp debt which starts making you less combat effective so being max level doesn't matter, and being corrupted puts death penalties at 400% so you'd really want to just avoid dying in general (fixed number thanks Warth)

The corruption system is a work in progress and it keeps getting refined. For example, two years ago there was no mention of being able to grind away corruption through normal mob killing. There was not a separate "kill count" that doesn't decrease except through a quest mechanic. All that is known is that if you choose that murderhobo life as a regular part of your gameplay, you will experience significant penalties to your play in timesinks and risk.

Guild Wars 2 and ESO are thrown around a lot as having inspired AoC combat, or at a minimum being quite similar in theory.

raw materials and craftables (think iron bars) are always at risk whether in your inventory or in storage. Completed items, such as a fully completed weapon or piece of armor (and things like potions) are not at risk even if your node is destroyed or you get killed. This only changes if you get killed while corrupted, then you stand a chance of dropping a completed item in your inventory/on your character @harsh moon
That being said, things are always subject to change during testing.

That would basically be duping items, so not going to happen. The game is designed around relying on your community for defense and offense. It's risk vs reward
You can always try to be a member of a smaller node that is less likely to be attacked if you want to be more secure. There is still a risk, but may be less likely.

Hello all! This has probably been answered before and I'm sorry for that, but I could not find this information when searching for it. The question is if the freeholds will be freely placed down like in archeage or if there are predetermined "slots" for them on the map? I myself though it was quite annoying when people for example, where allowed to turn their buildings in corners and make it so that others couldn't fit.
@south shadow Freeholds are sizable player housing plots that can be situated within the Zone of influence (ZOI) of a Village (stage 3 node) or higher.

I don't believe they are adding that type of complexity into mob generation. However, leveling or destroying nodes can and will change some mob spawns in areas.

Does this mean that you risk losing your valuables that you had stored in the node? What if a siege is declared over night while you were sleeping and well, oops, there goes the thing you had.
Unless I misunderstand the system.
You will have a few days to prepare. A siege does not happen immediately after declaration. A siege also happens during server prime times, so no ninja sieges.
How large will servers be?
And another thing to note is you will only lose gatherables and materials. Completed items will be mailed to you, including your freehold template.
I'm just worried that you put X amount of effort into something, you lose a siege and all the effort will be for naught. Sure you get your blueprint back, but what about X amount of wood and stone you put into it.

It's going to be interesting to where you can store your gatherables then, either you have a risk of losing it because someone griefs you, or you lose it in a node.
Yea I like the idea of apartments and such being destroyable, but it'd be nice to not risk losing your stuff to looting in freeholds. Having 1 safe location would be nice.

No, not at all. You won't be able to access your important stuff from all over the world, you will have to travel to the storage location, e.g. a bank in a node, or your freehold.
I see, quick question, if the node that has my storage is attacked? Would the items in it be part of the attackers loot as well?
Storage comes in the form of warehouses in a node, or storage chests in player owned housing (freeholds/static housing/instanced apartments), as well as guild storage in guild owned castles (5 max)

noticed how all descriptions avoid using the term currency, does this mean currency is under different mechanics? All I remember is that it won't take up storage space, like quest items, but no mentions about dropping any of those on death or storage, if it can be stored at all.

So i had a loot at the wiki and didnt find anything about cosmetic slots. Am i right to assume the cosmetic slots coincide with the armor slots? Is there infos on how cloaks will work with shoulder pads? I can see there being an issue with clipping and distortions especially with belts pads cloaks wrists gloves when there is the possibility to mix and match any kind of cosmetic

They gave way too much credit to their team in the beginning (not bad, just small) then the huge backend issue they discovered during APOC, which helped or alpha woulda just been delayed as soon as they found it when a1 came out so it woulda been the same

@drifting pulsar This has been changed. You will be able to see a players level and class simply by hovering over them, along with what tier and type of armor they are wearing. You will not see health numbers or specific augments.

Do we know if Rare Spawns in the world that are available due to node progression are set spawns/static spawns or share a spawn chance with normal mobs but at a much lower rate?
Example 1: Bandit Leader spawns in Bandit camp every 18-24 hours after being killed.
Example 2: Bandit Leader has a .01% chance to spawn at the Bandit camp when a Bandit Lieutenant has been slain and is forced to respawn.
Also, I know legendary bosses can drop legendary loot and/or recipes/crafting reagents. Does this apply to rare spawns too. Using above Example, say the Bandit Leader spawns with a unique skin and/or more powerful sword. Would that sword option be available as a crafting recipe drop and/or drop or is that reserved for the big bosses only?
Will players be able to create some kind of temporary shelter out in the open world sort of like a hunting camp while they are out farming materials or fighting mobs?
I wasn't actually looking for boss drops and the quality of the boss drops. I was using them as a framing reference. More interested if loot drops of rare spawns had been discussed. But I know I am most likely asking questions of features not implemented yet as it is still early in development.

New world and ashes are totally separate games, ashes requires crafting stations and stuff new world has a fire that u drop for some currency to craft basic tools and weapons ashes will be nothing like new world
New World has crafting stations as well - just a correction there. The Mayor of the city has to upgrade those as well. (although every city has every crafting station, just the levels can vary)

So temporary bases such as campfires are not necessary a survival game thing. Many old school mmos had similar stuff and pantheon also has those. Depends how its implemented in the game. But yes ashes doesnt have them from the infos we have now and they dont make a lot of sense with their game design
If you want to discuss this further and throw out ideas, i'd recommend #aoc-discussion @sullen bay - One cool thing could be - taverns give huge AOE buffs when farming near the freehold that has that tavern. a campfire could be a small personal AOE buff if you were to use that to cook/eat a meal at the campfire but it would slightly better than "raw" food and much worse than a tavern. I think that is something that he might be looking at as an option.

as in, you spawn the mule out of your bag out in the forest, put all your gathered materials into the mule

@zenith heron We do not really know much about summoners but the answer to that question is no. You will be able to summon different mobs to control(tank, support, dps, maybe more) and depending on the way you go for skills, weapon(s), and second archetype. You might only have one out at a time or might be able to have 2-3(maybe more but that sounds unlikely from what we have been told)

The mule will likely need to stay around when loaded with stuff and I believe be 'killed' to drop some of what it is holding. It will drop some of what it is carrying when you die though

@frank hound Sorry, only just saw your question. The server cap they are looking for across the board is 8,000-10,000 concurrent players so it really comes down to how many different servers they are going to put up for the testing phases. We don't have an answer for that right now, sorry.
