Would it be recommended to wait until beta? I only ask cause of the price differences of $75/$150/$250
its honestly up to you, if your not comfortable with the game wait until launch but if during the alpha 1 phase your interested alot and want to help test during alpha 2 and have the money to spare go for the $250 as the alpha 2 will be persistent through to launch and the betas wont be

Hello I was looking to buy one of the pre order packs the $250 one last night and it just kept perma loading while in my cart. Tried again right now and it still won't allow me to proceed with it in my cart. Was wondering if anyone knew a quick fix to this or is the store currently down perhaps?

They are still working on UI and components like that so we won’t know what it looks like for a while. But some archetypes will be able to track and see more things on the mini map etc

Good morning everyone. My name is Richard I am currently living and working in China. There is an enormous gaming community in China, especially RPG players. China does not use Visa or Master Card. The government uses Union Pay. Steam has already made it possible for people in China to purchase their games using Union Pay. Will it be possible for people in China to purchase the game, or will the game be available on Steam?
There are no plans to bring the game to Steam. Intrepid is currently using Xsolla as their payment processor. Xsolla should have Union Pay China supported as well.

Will there be something to combat zergs and overly large communities feeding themselves resources through the alliance system? Such as trading restrictions or allowed consecutive trade limits before a red flag on the guild or an individual account. And then the same issue with individual people outside the guild feeding into a guild. I understand there may be automatic systems in place but its the nature of gamers to not play the way it was intended, so they will find ways to game the systems.

eh just a point a friend made, i do feel like so far they dont have much planned to stop large communities from taking over outside the planned content

well seeing as the game is focused on group play, The max number for a guild is 50 iirc. so it's not very hard to get 50 people in a guild. then there are alliances and such

I have a question regarding monsters and other encounters. When players retreat, will the health of the monster replenish immediately ( like in WOW ) or will the damage stay there permanently.
If you watch the 4k video and others you can see when returning after leashing a mob regens almost immediately.

Soooo we have a group of peeps starting a guild but the issue of servers is a sticking point. Currently we play a game that is American server but with EU players. As EU we miss events and have to stay up stupid late of we miss out. Do you guys think this will be the case here? Is it possible to have a mixed nationality guild on one server without missing out ?

Weapons will not be class-restricted. So a rogue will be able to use a greatsword. As for an ambush, this is a bit trickier as certains skills will only work or work better with a specific weapon type.
So if you ask will you be able to be get out of stealth to suprise someone with a greatsword, yeah you can ; but if you ask if you will be able to use a skill named "Ambush" with a greatsword, we don't know yet
if rogue does not require dagger for dps then I'll be using rogue greatsword
as i said, some skill will require or will be more effective with certain weapons. So you might need to use a dagger depending on your build and on how much you want to optimize your dps
Question, When protecting your caravan will you be attacked by mobs ? PvP only
The basis being will, attacker's or defenders use the mobs to there advantage or will the caravan route be designed where no mobs are present ?

near streets mobs will generally be lower level. So they shouldn't bother you too much
the further you strive from civiliization, the more of a problem mobs will obviously become

example... Say im going to attack a caravan but i know up ahead there are some level30 tigers... So say i run around pulling 3 or 4 tigers then i run up to the caravan start attacking and hope the tigers start attacking the defenders...... Ah thanks

The economy will be mostly player-driven, but there might be NPCs that will sell you gear too. drops from monsters will mostly be raw materials rather than completed items. Also most gear will be tradable
The size of the world and the lack of fast travel should help prevent zerging, but we'll have to see what happens during testing
@full badger How fast travel prevents zerging? Isn't waiting for bigger group of people enough? They can take their time but still decimate you with sheer numbers. Is there any idea to incorporate some AoE skillsets / traps / other items to punish this kind of behaviour such as mindless rush and ganging up?

I see there is screen with "Resurrection" on. Is resurrection going to bring you back to the same dungeon / boss you were fighting or to some kind of sanctuary / main city?
I mean when you die inside dungeon, otherwise I suppose it always spawn you in certain area which is expained in lore.

@crimson sparrow The only thing we've seen so far regarding resurrection is players who died inside a dungeon respawned at the entrance to it, but this might have been for testing only. We will have to wait for more details on that
I have question about skill three.

I think there is a small problem because if someone put 2-3 months or even half year to invent some rly op combo with talents/skills so then everyone just go to town, reset a skill three and use that build.
Resets if are common they running down concept of being unique. Just imagine being this guy who waste for ex. 3months to get his own skill build. During this 3months his build was just "meh" and then instead of being happy that in the end it works. Everyone just copy, putting build on some tierlist website and again he is no-one instead of being LEGEND (ok, maybe i over hyped that. Lets say "unique")
I undestand that propably it is not possible to remove resets from the game cause everybody makes mistakes and reaching 50level taking to much time to try once agaiin with another build.
In my opinion Metin2 (but old metin2) made a rly great job wiht "resets" problem.
For ex. u are 35level and 70skillpoints(when 1skillpoint = 1 upgrade) to put. You can upgrade skill maximum 10 times then uve to made some special train or something else to put this skill on mastery level and continue progressing with upgrading this. So there is solution. U can reset any time you want but only if skill is not trained to "Master/grandmaster/etc" level. Thanks for that u can build how u want and only when u finally choose ur final build u master choosen skills to Master+. After that resets of particular skill should be impossible or very very hard/expensive.

We have very little information about how that mechanic will work. Check back when it releases. My estimate, 6 months for summoner.
You will have a lot more information on the different classes as soon as alpha 2 hits. Before that only the 8 archetypes will be playable in alpha 1
@hardy blade from what I heard Steven say on one of the Dev updates/interviews Summoning will allow you to have 1 summon out until it dies or you die. I'm assuming the archetype will have certain abilities, but raising more than 1 seems unlikely.

There are however extremely rare egg drops that will give anyone who has one a limited life flying mount from 15-30 days. You could be "casual" and get someone to give you one I guess. Odds are low, but possible.

That was described as part of the increasing effects of putting skill points in. The fireball may have a dot, and at its highest level may have aoe. Different abilities gain different effect based on their skill points added.

Its basically a way to appease to two crowds. Some people can't play action combat because it gives them motion sickness or their response is too slow. These players will lean towards tab target.
Players who need interactive combat will likely move towards action combat more.
My question is how reliable will the tab target system be, when there are a large amount of targets/players in the zone. Will we have an option for targetting priority, such as front cone, depth of the tab target, etc.
Bless had a terrible tab target system where it would tab players in the backline when I needed to attack someone on the front line.

I wonder about the lore. One of the things that will make me quit BDO, despite awesome combat, is the lack of attention to the lore. No one really cares about the world you play in. I stopped playing wow years ago, but still follow the lore, cause its good and played the franchise since wc1. So Will Ashes have deep meaningfull lore. Will the places we go have rich history that evolves ?

We intend to take it much further, but I want it to be something that the players get to reveal themselves, that's not just handed to them and then the experience is lost. So I'm wondering about the village - metropolis nodes. Will these cities look identical to each other in the world, or will they look different from each other, maybe based on it's environment? I know that there are different types of building models based on racial architecture. But I wonder if like all human villages are identical, or will there be some difference in the placement of each building? Or are there some random elements to make some things distinct? I'm a bit worried that these nodes will lack soul if these buildings in a village/city/metropolis look copy pasted

What also would be cool is like lets say if both Orcs and humans live in a node, and orcs contributed for 75% and humans 25% that the buildings are Orcish but with a slight human design touch or vice versa. Is it like this or more like Orcs did most of the work so the node is 100% Orcish?

i'd imagine that the only official position is mayor and the rest is worked out between guild members, with people with higher "positions" having more permissions to use the mayors resources
mayor positions are totally unrelated to guilds. As far as we know there are no "lower positions" for nodes
Castles might have some since those are run by guilds, for example we know Kings can grants temporary flying mounts to officers during siege
Actually we do know of some township positions that have been mentioned. This is currently all we know on that subject, though it has been mentioned that certain positions might have buffs during sieges.

@brisk isle Hey thanks for the reply. I saw this and noticed that it said priests are NPCs. I was hoping that might be a player position that controls smaller aspects of the city. I wouldn't know what though. It would be neat if the mayoral duties were divided between a small group of people from different guilds, at least, so that one person didn't have too much power. I think a checks and balances system would be interesting.

So just putting an estimate of 10 000 players per server (reference from Peon's video where the servers will be capped at 8 000 - 10 000 players), if we average that out on 103 nodes, assuming that all nodes will have equal amount of citizens, you get a total of 97 people per node, if the server is currently full. One could assume that the battle would be somewhere between 100-300 players vs 100-300 players? Assuming that Intrepid has fully fleshed out the 250 vs 250 without major lag and make castle sieges that way actually playable. Am I far off here?

Like certain nodes may of course be popular than other nodes depending on guild rivalry and many other contributing factors. So from what I can understand, a new player joining in and wants to be a citizen of any node may choose to be so. Am I too far off here?

Node 10 may be a metropolis and adjecent Node 9 may be a Village on Server 1 but on Server 2 those same nodes stages may be reversed. Meaning that Server 1 may have access to different content than Server 2?

There won't be any predesignated servers of any kind. All servers are the same in Intrepids eyes so the community will need to make an unofficial one for themselves.

i was just watching asmongolds interview with steven. in the interview he mentions that seiging against a node with have time gates based on the server you play on. basically, you will only be able to seige within a certain time that is reasonable for people for the server you play on. I'm gonna be playing on OCE, but I sleep during the day and work night shift. does that mean someone like me will miss out on events like this?
depends on when your servers peak time will be and when you start work? when you say night work do you mean like 6pm till 10pm or say 8pm till 4am as an example?

I've only ever really played eso for an mmorpg and while i love tanking and being an immovable object, I've never really enjoyed that my weapons on there may as well be made of rubber given the amount of damage they do.
I understand that tanks aren't meant to get anywhere near dps but even trash mobs take far too long to kill imo
Stacking up siege weapons for a siege is always a good thing. It's 100% they can be destroyed in battle so it's a thing always needed. Also as of now if someone attack a node you go there and they can't refuse you to join in. So basically a wandering arms dealer is a thing for siege weapon crafters (too) @crystal beacon
I believe you won’t be able to build siege weapons outside of the siege preparation period.
Tanks will do damage just like healers will do damage. Can’t really give a comparison until more game play is completed / available for viewing

Corruption: I'm looking over the wiki and I don't see this mentioned, and without Alpha-1 we may not know, but does anyone know how Corruption works in a party setting?
If say a group of two players attack a non-combatant, they'll both flag purple. If the non-combatant does not fight back, and assuming both players damage the combatant do both players receive corruption, or does only the one that deals the killing blow?
I feel like this is an important distinction, because if only the player that deals the killing blow receives corruption, parties can form up around a single player designated to deal the final blow.

Losing the house location and gatherables should be how it goes. But one shouldn't lose decor or the arrangement of the house in my opinion, which is how it will be as I understood

defending nodes is just an ideal. It won't be possible sometimes because factors that are out of your reach
making the risk bigger than any reward for most people
Well I mean certain lvl nodes can’t attack other lvl nodes so you should normally stand a chance to defend yo u won’t have lvl 4 nodes being attacked by lvl 6 nodes

There's always the chance to get unlucky. I think they should implement an automatic server transfer system, which could be enabled in situations like the launch... so that there wont be delay in the area. If a player joins server A on the first day and plays for 24h and logs out... next day realizes the server is overcrowded, he could just switch servers before it becomes a problem. This could also be used to balance out the servers in the future if needed... even though I understand the node system makes it a bit hard to merge servers without people getting mad, so choosing your server where you want to transfer is a neccesity instead of just merging them.
the node level and event systems will be turned off so will will be no "first" event they will find

I have a concern/question, so a big part of this game seems to be a pvp experience, and in other games with open world pvp players who engage in pvp then begin to lose the battle just turn tail and run, and because the speed of players are the same it is almost impossible, or very time consuming to catch up and kill the player. Is there anything planned or already implemented in AoC to counter this?

Also, mounts don't all have the same move speed, you could breed a pure speed mount to catch up to people

No but if they run away and you can't catch up right away then you'll leave combat soon and you can mount up and charge back at them ;D

It not linked because if it was the caravan system would be useless and the world would feel much smaller

I have a large suspition that most people will keep most resources in a single node/city. I dont think youll have to worry about moving stuff to often other then trading
But there is a corruption system to discourage people from that and if your in a guild you can have some people there to help you and protect you

Non-combatant means you're not flagged for combat, aka green on the chart Jahlon linked
You loose the most if you die as corrupted including non-materials, combatants get a discount on loss of materials over non-combatants.
You can still get killed by other players but if they do kill you while you're green they become corrupted which is a whole other can of worms, I recommend you read up on corruption on ahes101 or the wiki 🙂

Because they want players to flag as combatant

@spiral pine It's to encourage you to fight back, The person who attacks you suffers bigger losses if you don't fight back as well.
They want people to fight back to try and live
But if you don’t fight back the person who kills you gets more corruption then if you fought back
so it's your choice, wanna keep your stuff or hurt the other?
So it’s up to you, do you wanna save more teasources, or make them suffer more

Ffxiv did a good job at highlighting your character's involvement in the main scenario and it's really nice to see you character in your glams talking and interacting.

Don't know for sure. There are parlour games that would make sense for gambling, but European laws make it so you can't put gambling in games that are under 18+ so they may not be able to add it in

They've mentioned that if your account receives a large amount of in game currency randomly it will automatically trip an in game alert to the dev's to look into it. If its a payed for currency your account will be subject to banning.

They're not used for anything right now since they're in-game currency

I spent some of my embers during apoc for example so my ember count went down and didn't reset or anything

The cosmetics available to purchase on the website are unique, limited time. The actual designs will probably be used elsewhere in the game but with different color schemes. I can't remember reading about any of the in game ember items being limited time

No update on the program. There is a community for content creators but you need to be relatively well known in the community to get in I'm pretty sure

Chat and I are curious about node siege limitations. Are they held to the same player capacity as the castle sieges? 250x250
@void heath 250v250 is their low-ball size of what they plan to "for sure" support. 500v500 is their desire. Regarding specific size of Node Sieges (rather than Castle Sieges) it's a good question.
Nodes are probably going to be the bigger sieges over castles, since they're more "open" with who can join them so to speak

So let's say your node gets seiged and destroyed, and you have items stored in the apartment homes and such, what happens to those items? I know you'll lose a portion of them, but the other portion you didn't lose, where do those go?

I have a question about the caravan system... Do I understand it correctly: There are some goods that you cannot transport yourself and only with caravans to another node? Or why else would you need them exactly?

Your inventory is limited, so to transport more than what your inventory/mule can hold, you need a caravan @crystal beacon
No, caravans only allow you to transport much larger volumes, so instead of doing 100 trips on foot you do one massive trip with a caravan

You can always apply for a Q&A tester position even if it isn't listed, as they mention that you can apply for anything. Just know that you are competing with people that probably have years in the field so make sure your resume is up to scratch @alpine basin

WoW releasing an expansion will have no impact on Intrepid's release plans for testing phases.

When asked about other games in the past Intrepid has often taken the professional high road. They wish them well and good luck with their development. What other people are doing and their release plans are sure to have very little if no impact on their development.

You can earn intrepid bucks, which you can convert to subscription time, embers (for in-game cosmetics) or potentially IRL money. You get 15% of the purchase cost of those that you refer.

@dusk nova there are 103 nodes that can be leveled through their ZOI. But since nodes can lock each other out from progressing further, the amount of cities per server will vary
I thought there was a max amount of players that could attack and defend at once? If there is a guild on the attacking side who initiated it but is just being dead weight intentionally that would severely hamper the attackers side

Similar to how citizens are automatically signed up as defenders, I'm assuming that the guild that completes the seige a node quest will be automatically signed up as an attacker?

What's stopping a guild filling up all the attacking spots on a siege that is owned by that same guild? Putting that node on a cool down and is safe from attacks for a week or whatever the cooldown is?
