Referring to the separation between tab target and action as different modes is kind of misleading isn't it? Its more the skill are tab skills or they are action skills.

You have three trees Passive,Active and Tab. You invest points into whatever tree you want to unlock abilities or power up abilities in that tree.

There will be an AH at economic nodes once the node progresses high enough and if the mayor chooses to build it. Otherwise you can advertise in the chat and trade from player to player

Read what I typed my friend. You cannot build any type of AH at a non-economic node. You may be able to view what is on a connected auction house, but not buy anything from it.
You would need to travel to either the economic metro, or a connected economic vassal to use the AH

Does anyone know if crowd control plays a role? I mained an Enchanter in EQ for a few years and it was a lot of fun. A lot of games had a little crowd control but it wasn't really mandatory for anything.

@near horizon No real answer that we've heard, If you want a speculative answer, being far from the edge of economic regions could mean you have easier access to more than just the two economic regions (running stuff from A to C might be easier if you live in the middle of B than if you live on the boarder of A and B
Hey folks, I read the faq about action/tab based combat system, but may I ask how "clicky" the tab-based combat system will be? I ask for a friend who has issues with his shoulder, he is not able to click many times with the mouse. Can it be compared to wow tab targeting? <- i know this might change in future but I would like to know if it is possible to my friend to play it
you can use key bindings as well like wow im pretty sure, and they plan to have the UI very customizable but we dont know much info

the nda for alpha 1 will lift end of fall (last day of fall would be 21. December) and people r able to stream then ๐

Can we actually grab a ledge amd climb? Is climbing/vaulting a feature? Can't seem to find amy information regarding that. Taking in consideration most of us wont have a flying mount, beeing able to climb rocks and building would be awesome.
There will be some climbing and parkour in specific areas, you won't be able to do it everywhere unfortunatly

Anyone know if there's any ways for player owned shops? Or is it all done through trading/an auction house? Could someone set up a stall/sell things from their freehold possibly?
Player stalls (also called Kiosks and rental stalls) are rentable locations near the unique building in an Economic node[4] or in Marketplaces (the "constructible" building available for placement by mayors of any Town (stage 4) node or higher).[5]
All nodes do have the ability to spawn player stalls. If you're not an economic node and you don't have a market- that's essentially your unique building- then you can construct essentially what is I guess would be called a... marketplace; and that marketplace will then come with certain services and it will come with a certain number of stalls. The economic node as I recall has the ability to construct an auction house and the auction house serves through the economic means the ability to list and sell items and that comes with additional stalls as well for the players.[5] โ Steven Sharif
Renting a player stall enables players to sell items as well as provide repair and enchanting services, even when they are not online.[6]
Player stalls are rentable by node citizens.[7]
Player stalls may be utilized for a period of time based on the price paid to rent the stall.[6]

So in that case, what's stopping the guild controlling the castle from just creating a dummy siege every month or however long the CD is, such that noone else can ever siege the castle?

Not to mention, how does it work if you have multiple guilds joining a castle siege? How do you determine who gets the castle if guilds A, B and C each join with 100 people each?

And even without 500 dummies, say I have a guild of 300 people and each guild is required to have 1 alt account (from my experience in wow classic this doesn't seem unreasonable in the more hardcore guilds).
In that case you can just have the 300 dummies sign up for the siege, and suddenly there's a cap of 200 legit players sieging the castle, meaning you have at worst a 300v200, where the 300 is also on average significantly more coordinated
if it's a player owned castle then a guild leader must cast a 3 to 5 minute cast to get the castle
So if you win the siege it turns into a FFA in the end?

but you do enter in a temporary alliance so I'm not sure if you'll be able to attack eachother
But I mean, if there are only 5 castles per server and a 500 player cap on sieges, I can almost guarantee that 90% of the castles will be controlled by sweaty guilds where everyone is required to have 2+ alts each such that you can just fill all the sieges with dummies to make the castle impossible to take
that is problem that will be dealt with when it occurs I'm guesing
a bit too early to start worrying about it
Given how much focus is placed on the awesomeness of castle and node sieges, I think that not figuring out what to do before it happens (because it 100% will happen) is a pretty horrible idea

Yep, there should be at least two or three threads over there about people's opinions and issues about how sieges will be "cheesed" by megas. Or how megas will do this or that.
So one thing that was missing from the hybrid combat video was hitscan/projectile based abilities like bow skills, free-aim fireballs and stuff. Will those abilities be able to be used in tab-target camera or will you have to switch to action cam to use those types of abilities. Or will those types of abilities even exist?

Nope, got no answer for you. Other than that the wand was broken and they asked us to stop using it first day because it's shot was travelling too far and aggroing stuff from miles away. Combat is basically what you saw Steven do in the video, specific theorycrafting should come from that.

Depends. There's a good chance the EU headstart server becomes Server 1 which means it will be very populated and the most competitive server
2 days is the difference between a competitive world first and just something that happens naturally due to starting early

There are guild halls which are around the size of a regular freehold. Top Guilds can also own castles

If you mean the alpha 1 pack then no. There won't be any updates on it until Alpha 1 actually starts and all the current backers get in and test as they need to make sure the servers and backend can handle everyone

Yes you can, for the difference. I believe you would get the current month's cosmetics. So if you buy the 75$ pack this month you'd get the fisherman's belt accessory, then next month you upgrade to the 150$ pack you'd get the fire fox pet, and the option to buy w-e new accessory there is

One thing I am wondering is how the item repair / decay works. Do tanks get punished for their role and have major upkeep on weapons and armor versus someone on the back lines like a mage or ranger?

@tall vapor Unreal has build in controller support but it has not been promised. They will try but no promises beyond what the baked in Unreal 4 engine has.
Both types of armor will require materials in addition to currency to keep maintained, as such both will require materials at the rarity it took to craft the items

@steady ocean I get that part, but the thing is, if you are the tank you get hit by the boss 100% of the time, where a ranged player will possibly not ever get hit. Hence heavy repair costs for tank, versus little to no repair costs for ranged? Or will the wear be tied into skill usage where all will incur the same wear cost?
I would assume one way to balance tank gear is to let it have more durability, but near the same cost for a full repair. Not sure what system is confirmed in game though, or if anything has been confirmed (I don't think so at this point).

I am hopeful that those things are in consideration for tanks, they generally get the short end of the stick in MMO games.
They also get into almost any group they want which requires more frequent gear repairs. Checks and balances. May be moving more into the direction of #aoc-discussion though
Like how loot rights will be based on damage. If a tank does lower damage will they have a harder time wining loot rights if they are fighting the same mob as a DPS class? What about XP? Lower damage = lower XP split as well. So say two raids are fighting a world boss. One is an evenly balanced conventional group. They have tanks and healers in the group, so less damage. Then a group is competing. with no tank(s) and only minimal healing. The tank must keep aggro to keep his group from dying but the group that does more damage / tags first will win loot right?

No system is perfect. It's about balancing it as much as the devs can in order to fulfill their vision for how the game should be. You are asking some fairly in depth questions, which is great, but many of them are those that we currently don't have answers to. If you don't get an answer here, I'd suggest writing up a list of your questions and see if they have been asked on the official forums or the official reddit, and if not, compile them and see what the community has to say.
We can only give actual answers if the devs have said something will be a certain way, if they haven't then it is just speculation and better suited to #aoc-discussion

To your damage question, it would probably be easy for that tank to just stop pulling aggro and let it run wild into the opposing team if they were purely DPS/no tanks/low heals. Then once the boss mops them up regain aggro and continue. Or the traditional group could engage the other group in PVP/have a mercenary group on stand-by to help defend. PVP will be a big aspect for the large open world boss fights
Yeah, I was hoping more for stances on the tank, so that if they need they can switch into more of a DPS mode at the cost of losing some of their mitigation / beefy-ness.
Having everyone normalized on DPS means that you you focus more on your role than DPS. But since the tank is a special unicorn, which is necessary to take a beating and keep on ticking. Then they would have to choose, am I in tank mode or damage mode.

There will be normal loot rules you find in other MMOs. Master looter/party loot/round robin/free for all. It depends on what the party agrees to. No personal loot at this time. If your party leader has master looter on and runs with the gear, you can complain to your nodes mayor maybe and try to get that person to become an enemy of the state basically + report them to other nodes/guilds for public shaming. The devs don't want to hand hold the players too much though
its not too big of a deal id just think a timed bounty would make the most sence

@sharp forge the developers want mana to be meaningful so you won't be able to spam spells endlessly, but this will likely be fine tuned during testing.
If I am right there is even a spell on the mage that gives mana to allys :)

Yes and they were always there during videos, unfortunately you can use 6 spells instead of 4 and mob still has half the health

Like mana can be meaningful but you would have to fill it with some spells that don't require mana but are cooldown based in my opinion

I already saw a video of the mage 3 years ago with flying and destroying rocks and things like this, but will their be a combat impacting interaction? Like water spells do more when standing in a river or fire spells when it's day, lightning when it's raining or something like this? U get the ones not include in your previous one. I did see the stat change mechanic and it is very welcome. I always wanted to be able to make gear "unique" so to speak. I always wanted to be able to switch out mats to make certain models higher or lower in stats for different levels of play hence my question.

@normal lodge basically if you wanna use lets say 4 skills. You can only choise 3 tab type. you need to have 1 action based. There is an option for 2-2 too but never 4-0 on either side

I have few questions, like any news on how race will give basic stats, for example if I wanna go elf tank, will elfs lack too much points in constitution? And also jobs as blacksmithing is it just for making tools and not anythings else? I've seen there is also weapon and armor smithing, as introduced there will be ppl go gather material, ppl who process them and ppl who make stuff, so lets say I am armor smith, I can't make stuff without other ppl selling me materials? Can ppl have two jobs finding materials and making items? 
We don'have info on race stats yet. Artisan classes don't give bonus stats.
If you choose to be a master in one of the artisan parent types, like geathering then you can't becam a master crafter. You either create an alt for it or socialise with players in the other artisan parent type.
So yes if you wanna be a master armorsmith you buy mats as you can't geather them @crystal beacon

We don't know what intrepid will find during the testing phases or how long it will take to fix.
In the past Apoc test they found an issue that took them almost a year to fix with the networking code.

Cosmetics will be in account management for you to apply and not inside your inventory.
Mounts will have to be carried in your inventory. That's how it seems from the gameplay videos they've shown so far.

@coarse nest mounts will typically probably only have one or two, as the mounts u see in the shop are skins for mount and as seen so far they are held in the inventory but can change based on feedback from testers
Skins? Interesting idea for mounts, if that is the case then the logic would be they work like cosmetic items. That being said if they are linked to your account are those items a one time use only. Meaning if you have item x and item y both for your head piece and apply item x to it originally but down the road decide you want to use item y and switch it is item x forever destroyed or can you swap back and forth at your leisure similar to WoW?
as a tank, will our solo levelling at start be much slower than other classes, also if we are in group how are xp gonna be devided? Is it gonna be like who deals more dps, in such way tanks are falling a lot behind in regard of xp gain

@crystal beacon I believe I recall recently hearing that the XP for a party will be divided evenly but not discourage group play. So like playing with a party of 8 wonโt let you only get 1/8th of the XP. But Iโm going to look that up and get back to you if Iโm wrong.

The only way your xp will be divided based on dmg done is if you're competing with someone from a different group for 1 kill
In that case, the xp will be split between the two groups based on how much dmg each group dealt, and then split equally inside that group

@random trench Currently we've only heard of farms on freeholds, tho Steven mentioned in-node housing would have small gardens you can plant things in. I wouldn't be surprised if adding farmland was something a mayor could do tho, but it hasn't been talked about yet. Might be a good question for next month's Q&A!

We do not the know the full extent of the element types for mages
We know there is life and death augments via the cleric archetype
also seems out of the question to have spell effect skins that drastically change a colour or look of a spell as it would cause to much confusion?, you might get away with small colour changes like for a fire mage having blue fire, like the warlocks in wow can get green fire to match their fel theme.
We know that some augments do alter the spell/skill effects

Personally i disagree, however i understand the reasoning behind what you are saying. The reason i disagree is because i feel like there are things that are said in non 18+ Channels that make those interacting with the community feel uneasy. Yes these things are taken care of by mods, but they are still said in the first place. Hurtful words can still be hurtful, and it is my belief that those situations would not happen in a 18+ channel.

If a node siege is successful and my freehold is destroyed and lets say I have a leveled up building on that freehold, does the building keep it.s level when I try remaking the freehold?

@misty crane You can't increase the size of the freehold's plot, but you can upgrade building to make them bigger in height, so like, adding a second floor to a tavern for example. So yes, there will be a cap to how much stuff you can have on your freehold

@fading valley from what i have heard, they will be moved around/ randomized a bit. You will not be able to go to the same spot over and over for the same resource
@fading valley varies. Some will spawn in same spot on a cooldown, others will spawn in other spots. Some resources will be mobile (example animals for husbandry)

Rested experience allows players to gain experience at a faster rate for a period of time. @unreal zealot
It is unknown if they have to be within tavern distance or if it lasts for some amount of time including outside of tavern area (regarding rested XP)
Taverns can also offer Food and Drink that will give the players bonuses as long as they stay within proximity of the tavern. I am not sure what the range is though. I would guess within the Nodes influence area.

yes, if a node is destroyed in a siege for example, the surrounding nodes zois will expand to fill the gap
so if its node gets destroyed and it goes to stage 0 it still can be leveled to 1 (assuming no blocking)

@twin garden there will be faster regen outside of combat, steven has said he does not like when you have to take a 2-5 min break from fighting to restore resources, thats not a fun part of playing the game to him. It might take 30 seconds or so to fully heal. It won't be instant because that is abusable but it won't so long as to be a real annoyance.

That's a shame. I know many people would love the lifetime sub even without all the other cosmetics and things associated with those packs. When I google for those packs all I see are account traders quoting thousands of dollars for them.

@sharp sail lifetime subs will not come back. Also, donโt get tempted by the packs you see that are not available in the actual company shop. They will get banned and you will loose your money as it is against TOS.

Will taverns be a buildable thing on freeholds?
Is there a timeline or something for when alpha 2 starts?
How will same class over same class be compared to same class/different class such as fighter/fighter vs fighter/mage? Iโve only heard The game devs explain how other classes would augment the primary class but not how the same secondary class would augment the first.
@balmy gull right now we don't have an answer as we haven't seen any of the augments

@balmy gull They have stated that a double dip will be more potent but the augments from other classes allow you to be more flexible and give utility
The intention is that having the same secondary class as your primary will specialise you in a particular role, whereas having a different secondary to your primary will blur the lines somewhat

In Alpha testing do you have access to all the features? E..g what is different in terms of feature vs launch? All that was mentioned we can test out? E.g. the node system to build the city, crafting, seiges?
We won't have access to all the features simply because they won't all have been made by then. Also we'll only have access to around 20% of the world map

Hi all, I'm totally in love with the game and seeing all this development is so cool and awesome, many thanks for showing us the whole process and being open about all the flaws and goods inside the development process.
My type of play is usually and 99% of the time, Archery, and i'm only seeing a bit of combat for the tanks and mages, when will be a demo for the archery as that will be a very important point to me and usually is a deal breaker! i can give an example, where in ESO the archery play feels like poor and not optimized to be a MAIN weapon but always a secondary weapon, and as much i like ESO story/lore i don't play the game at all because of this feel of the archery gameplay!
My question when will be a demo of archery and how it will be done with your hybrid combat style ?

@light flicker The castles will start off being owned by NPCs and it's essentially a raid
The guild that did the most damage to the boss will gain it
They'll be testing it further in alpha 1 to determine if they like that method or not. But as it stands it's currently set as whichever guild does the most damage to the raid boss.
I believe guild leaders will actually need to cast something to claim the ownership of the castle. Other guild leaders in the alliance may also attack them in the meantime to claim the ownership for themselves.
