They are looking at various options during testing and will decide later. They want you to have some information, but not unlimited, to keep that sense of exploration and discovery.
You will be able to put down "raid markers" like many other mmos for content. Nothing so far on map markers in a larger world sense.

To answer Magi's question, I honestly couldn't name one thing because it all sounds so good. I've been watching many different YouTube videos on Ashes information (shout out to @simple ether ) and even systems where I expect the usual MMO approach turn out to be surprising, interesting, fresh takes on the system.
Even things like mounts that I usually dont pay much attention to in other MMOs sound 10x more exciting with the taming and husbandry systems

@near horizon in terms of market places/Auction houses: each node has its own market for goods and services, with respective prices.
Unless you have an economic lord node, those connect the auction houses through all the vassal nodes

@white tartan That will be up to you, depending on which time zones fit your schedule best and which ones have the best ping. You're not going to be locked to specific servers unless you chose to pay for a subscription that had its price changed to fit a certain currency in which case you'll have to be on the server assigned to that sub price

How will PvP and PvE Gear Work? And how do you get pvp gear?
There is no pvp gear

Crafting vs Raiding gear are one in the same?
Depending on the raids you are able to do, they will be comparable if you use the legendary crafting materials and get a master crafter/enchanter to make the gear
There is no difference between the gear you use in pvp and the gear you use in pve though. There may be certain enchants that are better suited for pvp, but gear is not pvp specific, nor can you earn gear from pvp unless you hunt corrupted players and they drop gear
So raiding is pretty much a must?
You can also buy most gear from other players if you want
world bosses/dungeons/raiding for top tier gear and top tier crafting materials yes
but yes, raiding is a lot of the gear
But you can trade others for the materials if you want to be a crafter and not a raider
Ty, just curious the dynamic for top end pvpers compared to top end raiding guilds for gear differences during battles/sieges
I mean, they'll need to be top end pvers in order to be top end pvpers. Either that or they'll need to somehow earn a metric ton of money to buy gear from other players

Will this be opened up for people who buy the packages or is this solid "only for backers from the kickstarter"? Didn't pop on my radar when the kickstarter happened so I'm sitting here being big sad that I missed it even though I'm probably going to buy one of the more expensive packages on the AoC website because I want to see this game launch and thrive.

That is no longer available. The headstart servers are severely restricted, so you are not missing out. Also, it will only include a few servers, the vast majority of servers will not be headstart.
Not sure if this has been asked. When you hire a NPC Tavern Worker or Freehold Mercenary will they be randomized or will you have the option to create your own and equip them with different gear?
We know that the mayor will have some influence in building defences that may result in higher tier NPCs/guards. Other than that, I'm not sure if we have that info at this time

When it comes to naming a character will it be just: [name here] or will there be like first and last names. I know there are titles but are their family names that get put at the end of your initial character name?

AoC offers an immense player driven universe which opens up the inevitability of large guilds to dominate rare resources and creatures by having 24 hour shifts to lock down said content
I understand that the corruption mechanic exists but it doesn't seem to account for 60-100 players deciding to possess ownership over end-game content
You could get into your own group/guild of 60-100 players and contest the resources.
The resources also spawn randomly, and not on a timer for 1 specific spawn node.

@upbeat nacelle Once old pre-order skins are gone their gone for good and are only acquirable within their time period (limited exceptions apply, like my.com people having some ability to order things that they should have been able to order individually but were unable to at the time), Some non-preorder skins could return in the future (for example APOC cosmetics) but the KS/SS/pre-order ones won't return.

@slow spruce English, German, French and Russian are the languages supported for the game's launch. More languages may become supported post-launch and when that happens, their servers will be added as well

Like mist said some are some are not and yes in the game you might need some protection from your guild or friends but again you gotta also remember stepping into the world of pvp that no matter what your doing you can be attacked.

There will be a scribe profession, but there is not much information on how that system looks like. What do you mean by "flash" though? As in, how it looks or functionality?

I just really hope intrepid doesn’t ride the cash shop to hard, making the game content you earn a lot less exciting.

Even a cosmetic only cash shop can be bad depending on prices and how much they try to get you to buy
Well yeah but like Archeage, the cosmetics they sold for real money left a grey spot for actually in game content rewards. Took a lot of excitement from the actual game play itself. Instead of spending time working toward a cool outfit people just bought it. A monthly subscription guaranteeing income so that all content is obtainable from actually playing the game is the way to go.

Oh do you guys know if the castles will give passive buffs to the guild that owns them? or is it just the flying mount?
You'll be able to progress your guild, which will unlock choices such as various perks, or increased guild membership (to a cap of 300). You have limited points to allocate though, so it will be a trade off between a larger guild in terms of membership or more guild perks
Correct and with the castles you will be able to place taxes and other things while owning the castles for further aid while playing

Question: From what I understand in the Corruption system, to get more corruption you have a to kill a non-combatant. So if a corrupted/combatant level 50 kills a level 30 combatant, no corruption will be added, is that correct? I want to know if the level difference also affects the corruption stacking between combatants?
Many people will want to play the game and will be forced to start EU with real bad ping but then wont go NA because they already progressed so much in the EU servers.

A corrupted killing a combatant causes no change in corruption. The level diffrence does count though, a lvl 50 killing people in the starting zone will quickly gain alot of corruption

How is it decided who runs the Castle after a Castle Siege?
I think if the castle goes down, the node would go down levels or reset

for the guild castles, sorry if that wasnt clear, my understanding was that they are permanent fixtures in the world
i think you'll need to level up nodes to even build on the land
So the castle would be tied to a node

seems like itll be a zerg controlled thing unless there is some noramlizng factor to allow smaller guilds to gain acess

So the owner would just be the guild that fought

but in a 250v250 there will certainly be more than 1 guild at a time on either side, it even says others outside the reigning guild wil be encouraged to join

Don't have a source memorized but the expectation is that a guild would form alliances to attack/defend and while the perks of the guild castle can't be shared it is expected that some type of agreement would be made. Only 1 guild can control the castle and get the benefits and small guilds will be left out of actually having ownership in it. Smaller guilds can concentrate on getting guild buffs but larger guilds have to use those resources to expand the size of their guild so this is a route for them to get buffs/perks too.

i dont see why that would be the case. why would a single 1h wep be as good as 2 of them? and it also makes problems on the crafting side, you would only need to buy one weapon whereas others need 2 or a 2h which is always more expensive

@tranquil willow tbh the reason most games do that to wielding 2 1 handers is mostly for balance, but it comes with its own benefits, you will always have the same amazing damage with the first one hander but the second always cut the damage of the weapon you choose most people mitigate it with a faster weapon than your main hand so you get quick stabs in while you main hand is getting ready to swing
I think that wielding 1h weapon only for dps is going to be viable, because I think there will be utility bonuses like better defenses, increased movement speed etc to make it a good option especially in pvp

@little kiln As far as I know there won't be any indicators on the map for where nodes are, until a node reaches level 1
@little kiln i think there will also be a fog of war on the map so you always have to update it if i remember correctly since the world changes seem kinda dull for you to be updated when a node gets destroyed that you frequent and it just tells you on the map.
In the node advancing trailer, the lvl 0 node appears as a little camp fire

@full badger ok...Bear McCreary has done some amazing work. His spotify list of work doesn't end.
They have about 10,000 testers registered. Plus a few others who were gifted A1 keys after the initial 10k cap was reached.
Depending on various bits during testing, like if only 10% of a1 key holders ever log in, or they find their tests going well and want to try a higher load, we might see more A1 keys go on sale sometime during A1.
(The bit on low turnouts I pulled out my rear don’t quote it)

@ancient void you can buy from the us store but due to the taxes etc it might be more expensive than if you was to wait for an eu store but there no way to confirm it atm, if you buy on the na site you can transfer it to eu later if they end up using separate eu and na accounts for the game

@pine forge Currently we don't have a lot of info on the specifics of the Alchemy profession. There hasn't been any mention of poisons that i'm aware of, but that doesn't mean they won't exist, we don't know yet!

Every other day instead of spending on a latte, put it in the save for 'awesome laptop' piggy bank. We probably have a good 1-2 years to go, so it will help towards that new machine. In terms of gaming laptops, personally I have enjoyed my ASUS ROG. It is a few years+ old now, so I will probably have to upgrade if I want max details/performance once AOC launches.

GM hiring probably be closer to launch id guess
You have to let the support get use to your internal policies, software and integration software with the game. Trion had a mess of this but lots of small workarounds for a month of training on that when Devilian launched. So that's why I'm hoping to grab their interest a bit earlier than them posting up a hiring position. :3

Also the Intrepid devs tend to use the word 'battleground' as any place in the world where PvP is encouraged to take place including things like around caravans, "Arenas" tend to be the word they use more for instanced PvP.

We can't say for certain, but you can look at previous packs that were released for october, it might give you an idea of what they might have in mind

I understand that we drop percentage of gatherables / processed goods from our resource inventory when we die as a character.

if i remember it drops everything and a % is dropped for the attackers and the rest i think is just lost to the void. it could have changed or change during development but im not 100% sure hopfully @simple ether can confirm or correct me or anyone else who knows for sure.
When the caravans are destroyed, a lot of the gatherables inside it are permanently lost. The rest drop to the ground.

So if you only have a few action abilities. Are you going to be able to hold down the button, Aim, And then fire it off on release and instantly go back to non-action playstyle
not every action button will require you to hold it down. there are multiple types of action abilities all with different functionality. Exactly what we will see is unknown but using an action ability you will be able to immediately follow it with a tab ability without issue.
Augments alter base skills, and those base skills scale with gear, so in general gear will affect an augmented ability
I read about swapping to action mode with a reticule and non action mode. I am hoping it is a bit more seamless than pressing a hotkey to switch. I am not a fan of always having my mouse locked to the center
Ah we don't know the particulars of gearing atm, but an augment might cause you to want different gear

In the artisan system pets and mounts fall under the Gathering and Processing tiers or are direct monster drops. Does this make them eligible for death drops under the term gatherables/processed goods or are they considered a class in and of its own?
I've always assumed the latter, but the new Ashes 101 video had me thinking they might just (unfortunately) end up as death drops

@hallow pond A freehold can only be attacked if the node it's attached to is demolished. In the case of a successful siege, the attackers will have a couple of hours after they destroy the node to go around and try to attack any of the freeholds within it's zone
i see so, wether you have housing in a city or in freehold connected to a node, its going to blow up and so nothing is permanent like in archeage
Correct, if your housing does get destroyed tho, you'll get mailed all the furnitures along with the floorplan so you can easily rebuild it somewhere else

@hallow pond Yep, there isn't really any safe place for your materials and processed goods haha, only finished items are safe to carry and store. Anything else can be dropped either while you're carrying it and die, or when your house gets demolished. And since you can't pull out any of your materials from storage once a siege is declared against your node, you'll have to work really hard at defending your stuff if you have things that are really valuable in there!

@cerulean atlas no i dont think you can as it can be a form of fast travel they want you to explore and travel the world the only "fast travel" is the friend summon and the scientific nodes
Well early on it is very limited as the game progresses the fast travel will pick up as nodes get to proper level
But no there is only teleport to other specific nodes not to homes or apartments

8 - 10k concurrent and atm 50k registered, there will be plenty on freehold space t ogo around its just getting the gold to buy it and materials etc to build the buildings and furniture, but there is only so much space in the world so it is limited to a degree.
Wiki info mentions 1/2 an acre in size which translates to 2sq kms. Im thinking this includes the zone in the vicinity of the freehold over which the structure holds influence

Have some theorycrafting I wrote out earlier - The worlds about 460sqkm, freeholds are about 1/2 acre, 1 sqkm is about 247 acres, If every inch of the map was taken up by freeholds (it won't be), and there was no space inbetween (there will be), there could be about 237,120 -> A realistic number is way under this, but 10k could be a pretty realistic number, that would be something like a bit under 5% of the land being freehold areas, not necessarily everyone will have a freehold but a lot will -> we don't have exact numbers

beast taming is a profession, not a class, tho summoners will have some creatures they can control.
You can tame animals as Tamer and then trade them to animal handlers who can breed them for mounts or combat pets

I know it's not my place to say, but I was hoping to maybe see instead of mounts spawning directly on the player, why not make them that they spawn in and follow you... Then you can mount it it you'd like. Basically like a pet until you press like G or H to get on it and then it's a mount....? I was watching a lot of videos of game play and thats legit was the only think that i saw that i'd love to be improved... everything else looks sooooo good and can't wait.
@dry wraith i mean it sounds cool in theory but in reality it would be a pain to have to summon your mount then choose to get on it if your trying to do a quick get away, the animation for the mount appearing just needs to be refined so its not so basic but as @simple ether said it's all alpha and subject to change if you really like that idea share it on the forums since the devs look at that way more often than discord.

Yea but I mean thats if you are underwater, but what about just swimming? In WoW you have fatigue when you are in deep water and you end up dying even if you are not underwater
I can't find any info on dual specialisation. Is it planed? As PvE builds are suboptimal for PvP and vice versa, doing quests to reset augments each time someone wants to change the flavor would be really bothersome.

You can get game time through referals, they may consider to allow people to buy game time with ingame currency tho, but as Talents says, its not something they plan to do on release

It is kind of a gray area. On one hand it could be good for people that can't afford that much time,let's say due to the workload they lose 1/3 or even half of the monthly subscription. What I mean is that it would be good to own tokens which can give you some game time when you have your work schedule in order. It would be good to plan your game time and not lose a single minute generally speaking.

after watching paradox gaming network abit he keeps mentioning death and dropping stuff and its made me wonder, do we know where you respawn?
not yet actually. ive asked the question here before and no one is sure the details of respawning
Due to the nature of the world, i'd imagine its "spawn at nearest node of x size or higher" type of thing as just finishing a naval voyage across continents, getting ganked when you landed and spawning back on the other side of the map is likely to lead to many a broken keyboard.

A node siege may not be declared for 21 days following a node advancing to Village (stage 3). This does not apply to nodes at higher stages.
So if you're asking from level 3 to level 4, I would assume you can
The reason why they did that for level 3 would be for 2 reasons, first, they need a mayor and he'll need to work on the village ASAP, and there needs to be a guild that 'controls' the node to better support it
Which both are unlocked at level 3 node

You can upgrade your pack whenever you want for the difference. If you already have a low tier pack and you buy a lot of like accessories, they don't count as credit for upgrading

The 4k footage that Steven put out was recorded on a system with a GTX 1080ti
But that doesn't mean they aren't using RTX technology when designing the game, that's just what Steven had in his personal PC

I know that ship building is a thing. How is that exactly going to work? Are ships going to be used to aide in sieging? Or are they going to be able to bring us to certain nodes? Will it be more of a fast travel? Or will we be able to actually sail them to a given destination. Or will it be more like a railroad-ish type of style of transportation similar to how WoW does their ships across continents?

The ships will be constructed from multiple parts that are made by players. So you can customise them to have the stats you want, the same way caravans work.
Pretty sure we don't know yet for certain if they will be able to be used in sieges of costal nodes, but it has been theorized that they might
They aren't rail-roaded like in WoW, they're player controlled. Some will be small and only require 1 to 3 players to control, while others will require a whole crew of players.
There might be a few that are more like WoW's, but we don't know yet. Perhaps if you have two metropolis-sized scientific nodes that are coastal then you might have a ship "flight path"

Not sure if anything about "cover tactics" have been asked. Knowing it will have a blend between tab and action combat and since there are rogue archetypes. Will there be some kind of cover system in play that could help with sneaking and firing ranged weapons/abilities? JW
Stealth breaks tab-targeting, so you can hide from people behind terrain and they would have a hard time attacking you. Not sure if that's what you meant

@young elk Not quite, from what we've seen so far the stealth is more like camouflage, it makes you hard to see but not totally invisible like in wow. You still have a bit of a shimmer

I am glad they are focusing on what is fun cause being 100% invisible and then just one shotting someone from behind or nearly perma-CC'ing them has always been lame in most game that implement that style of rogue.

Sorry for another bundle of questions hahaha, but how would player manned Taverns be handled? Would players pay for their drinks or food before being given it? Would the drinks and food give you a buff so than players would be incentivised to head to a tavern before a big adventure or quest? Also if a player is a rogue would they be able to steal from my tavern or leave without paying? If so is there any notification of this or would i and my employees have to be my eyes?

@gaunt pecan From what we know so far, the taverns will offer a food buff that stays in effect as long as you stay within a certain range of the tavern.
They also are the only way to get rested xp, you can rent a room in taverns for it.
I don't think anything was mentioned about stealing from taverns, I don't think it would be possible, since taverns are still considered freeholds and random people cannot come in a steal stuff from your freeholds if you didn't give them permissions

Not really, this defines the game model. Some people hate gear grind systems where all your previous effort is negated in one update. And would possible stop playing if it gets introduced in the game.
Its not really negated... the model of MMO is to keep improving as far as you can if an item is better than yours you aim for it doesnt matter if it is higher or lower lvl

@abstract mountain While that is correct there are many ways to implement it. Let's say we get 5 lvl increase. One would be where the the "white" gear from lvl 51 quests is better than your legendary you spent months on gathering. Other could be that if you have legendary it is on pair with lvl 52-53 for example and can be used to speed up acquiring level 55 legendary by crafting means for example.

How much information do we have about the deities in game? I was hoping to theme my guild around one but the wiki doesn't have a lot to go on and I'd love to learn as much as I can before going to deep on something

right so talents in wow for example were 3 trees and you used to be able to pick any combination as long as you had the talent points. Im just trying to get an idea of playstyle customization and how it compares to wow vanilla through wotk before they ruined it all
other mmos and rpgs claim expansive or "unlimited" customization but it generally only effections small percentages at a time, like POEs puke of a talent system that hardly effects gameplay

Augments can also be earned via achievements, Religion, Social organizations
are the augments like +5 melee damage or like, heavy swings have a 20% chance to stun target?
One clear example is rush, in fighter + mage you can augment rush with arcane and make it a teleport to the target

Just as an example, I managed to find a viable holy priest lightwell build for arena back in the day. Very unique, no one knew what to expect so they didn't know how to counter it.

Is there going to be anything to stop datamining of the game so that not every spawn point of every mob, or quest and exact drop % of every item is known by 1 month post release?
Well world is everchanging
So really there wont be 2 servers with same spawns or same dungeons active
but there will be static things like global drop rates of legendaries even if they're not on a table for a particular server
I mean theres no real way to stop data mining once someone does it and the info is out it will be on the wiki or another site within minutes
and like, not bother engaging in quests instead just looking at dots on a map to go from A to B to C to A and turn in
yeah but i mean Wow straight up has APIs that report exactly where things were killed, spawned, harvested and so like 99% of everything is known and nothing is a mystery if you come late to the game
Intrepid haven't talked about any anti-datamining measures, but it might be something worth asking about in the upcoming Q&A
NDA's stop datatmining but once thats taken away people will start datamining the best intrepid can do is keep alot of info withheld during testing and just leave systems i nthere to test
