Nodes open up new quests as they develop
But quests are mandatory to do? Its not sandbox styled designed?
Quests are not mandatory ever... the player base can choose not to do them... in that case the node atrophies and eventually delevels and potentially disappears
as the node progresses to higher node stages though (from 0 to 6) it unlocks more higher-level content
Will the game have enchantments and glows like Lineage 2?
once a node achieves stage 4 it can exert enough influence to enslave nearby lower-stage nodes as Vassal nodes thus exerting it's influence over them

But what do i do if i want to play the game as a raider? I do have to do these quests to contribute to it? Are raids locked behind the node system, so it fluctuates what content i can do? Is there static content that wont change and you can rely on?
@crystal beacon the end game is to ensure your node stays the strongest to make sure you get the best “end game” opportunities without having to travel vast distances from your home node

AoC is designed a very dynamic player-driven MMO
AoC will have tons of change but there will be raid dungeons etc if that is your focus
but high-level raid dungeons will require higher-level nodes to exist spawning said high-level dungeons within their zone of influence
so yes, @crystal beacon as a raider it is in your interest to contribute no node advancement so that higher-level raid content becomes available. Also, if another group has declared a siege on a node providing content you want to continue doing, it is in your interest to help defend the node against the siege so you don't lose access to the raid content you are interested in
They don’t really spawn the dungeon they unlock them

@heady ocean there will no doubt be tons of footage of all the classes and guides on everything by the time the game launches

@heady ocean they plan to release all skills and augments for each of the 64 classes before release. So you will have the info. For how it "feels" it will require you to review streamer footage (or participate in Alpha/Beta gameplay yourself).

They have also toyed with the idea of a separate instance where you could try out various archetypes and classes in an instanced environment as a preview, but no confirmation on that or if it will be prior to launch.

Nope, that was not part of the footage from Stevens run. That was the other testers. We got around 40 people all grinding in a single node and "popped" it after around two hours of work. We can talk about it, but still under visual nda for those test.

the average decent software developer salary in San Diego is around $250k. With approaching a 100 developers working at intrepid.. even assuming they all equally make $200k each.. thats $20 mil a year in salary expenditure
and the good developers make a lot more than $200k / year

Steven messaged on discord a few says back while attending a PI meeting. PI to me means Private Investors. So I am positive they can secure extra funding if they need it.

Combat will be "slower" than BDO combat, as TTK (Time-To-Kill) will be a bit longer (will not be 1v1, same level, insta kills happening) because they want combat to include strategy and tactics

Tbh there shouldn’t be a ton of lowbies rolling to sieges after the first one. The mechanics of the game show a direction to slow meta building and rerolls so re rolling will be a big investment and not just a 2 day money sink

So castle sieges are a guild thing more like bdo Saturday sieges, node sieges can be literally anyone so you want be out in that situation one way or the other for like a whole fight.

So plenty of time for people to get to max level before sieges become a thing. You need resources to initiate siege as well

Like if my huge orc tank in in a doorway can my allies get shots through? Or do I just become a wall for both sides?

@coral raven this has been brought up before. While they have stated they know and this is the point of testing. Action combat isnt solely the idea of fps and high speed animations. Location AoE and mouse/screen directional weapon swinging is under the category of action As for hit box blocking i would assume skills will animate through allies but their bodies will have some collision
The version of testing will depend on the type of pre-order you do. If you buy an Alpha 2 then you'll be able to play alpha 2.

@crystal beacon no. The current testing is nda pre alpha. Next is alpha 1 and so on you get access to the package you buys access. The only exception is if apoc comes back along side with br and siege modes that would probably be open to all again

At metro it will be a lot as the ZOI is 1/5th the land mass and you can put a freehold anywhere in the ZOI (except for specific spots such as mob spawn areas or dungeon entrances ect)
They tie directly into the supporting node, as it grants citizenship to a specific node if you choose that node as your home
If a node is destroyed but your freehold still within another zoi of a different lv3 node your safe

Hopefully they'll do some testing to see if 50k is the limit needed to avoid frequently capping out concurrent, because I think testing is the only way you'd find that out

The 50k server limit is 100% gonna be reduced. You can't have a 5:1 ratio of characters on server and characters currently logged in, especially when the game will have prime time events

Not every node will be populated. People will clump together. The way vassals and locking of node works people will gravitate towards the larger nodes as they need to unlock higher tier recipes and crafting station to progress. No one is going to hang out in a level 3 node all the time when they need stuff from the level 5 a 30 minute run away every play session.
you know... the more I think I know about this game and the more I try to create good questions to ask in a quiz about this game.. the more I realize there is so much depth in this game.. and then I realize how little I know about the game in reality... Each server will be different. For instance server x may have more people gravitate to a scientific node in the north, making that a central focus.
Meanwhile you log into an alt on server y and the progress is revolving around a religious node in the south west...

There is no timeline for release. Anyone that gives you one doesn't know any more than you. The testing phases will take as long as Intrepid feels they need to or if they run into problems. They have a timeline with 30% padded onto it, but even that is at the mercy of whatever rears its head.

However, that does not mean they can't use more money to potentially accelerate the process, hire on more devs, etc. Right now they have a projected goal they are following and Steven knows he has the money to fund that. This is what he is referring to when he says it is fully funded

@tulip glacier I'd imagine that the issue with making a character model have such extreme scaling options would be difficult for making gear also scale that way and maintain the quality of the model, without literally building separate models for tiers of size

My biggest worry is that guild will farm bounty hunters by sacrificing one person to a ton of corruption and then waiting around for bounty hunters to show up.
meaning that the other guildies would be attacking a non-combatant if they attack the bounty hunters fighting the corrupted?
@potent ingot You can only get raw resources/craftables from bounty hunters, so it really isn't worth trying to "farm" them. They most likely won't be carrying any, and corrupted don't get gear from killing bounty hunters.

Hi everyone, i have two things that are worrying me about the game:
- The availability limit on freeholds- is it going to stop players from being able to choose a non gathering profession?
- Is it possible to filter or get low noise spell effects from other players? I worry i won't be able to see my on character spells on a small 8 person party.

@blissful meteor 1: Players will have the ability to use friends/"familys" freeeholds, so that will keep your options open. 2: Steven has talked about the option to turn down effects, so I would assume you can cut down on those. You should also have buff icons showing what is affecting you also

shooting this message regarding upgrading my Braver of Worlds KICKSTARTER tier to Leader of Men through the intrepid store. I have already submitted a ticket through support to get this issue fixed but so far they have only gotten back with "leader of men pack should be visible now in the store". This wasn't really the issue as I was able to see the pack before submitting the ticket. The issue is how do I upgrade my account for free as the KICKSTARTER Braver of Worlds is equivalent in price to Leader of Men in the Intrepid Store. This was mentioned by mods here that this is possible. I moved it to my cart but when I go to checkout there is only payment methods. Do I have to pay the $500 again? Will it get refunded? Or is there a different way that anyone here upgraded their KICKSTARTER Braver of Worlds to Leader of Men in the Intrepid Studio. I have linked my account with the Kickstarter code so the $500 is in my transaction history. If there isn’t a solid answer, I will continue to wait but it has been almost 3 days since the last response, and I know the next alpha is right around the corner.

Until you die or after accumulating a certain amount of exp. or after waiting some amount of time?
I know if you leave an open world BG you will become a non-combatant after waiting a little bit

If low level players stay a combatant for a long time after becoming one then they won't want to pvp until they are near max level because a high level combatant will eventually find and one shot them

I really really really really hope that the gear will be optimised for all the classes , even if you chose a weird class. It's important having this freedom, probably the most important. I know they are doing their best. But I don't want to see in late game all the same classes in pvp.

The hard part is going to be figuring & fleshing out the secondary classes?
gear will be customizable by crafters so that adjustments to stats can happen not just based on your class but also on your current build (remember two people both playing a class may have chosen different skills to put points in and different augments)

@cold wasp no it will most certainly not equate to balanced classes. that's not the intended design. they are not balancing for 1v1, but more your role in a small scale pvp. You will have strengths and weaknesses and your effectiveness is going to shift based on content. Obviously they will try and keep things from being too drastic but shooting for perfect balance ends in homogenization and lack of interesting and deep gameplay.

@cold wasp I am just speculating like everyone else, but the way I have understood the explanations that the creators have provided is that the secondary class will be more of a customization of the abilities that your Primary class has. So if you were a Fighter Primary with a Tank secondary, you might get a little more Threat generation or CC with your abilities, as opposed to a Rogue that could possibly give you some Stealth or additional Backstab damage, or a Cleric could give you some Healing as you deal damage. Again the concepts that I have listed are just random ideas, but that is the concept of how the Secondary classes will effect your character, as I understood it.

A fighter with a dash could augment it as a mage secondary, to remove the cast time and make it a blink, or change CC effect to a freeze instead of a normal stun. With a different subclass, you get different effects
You don't have 64 different class identities, that's unreasonable. But you'll have a lot of variety between the same class due to the subclasses
Your primary class will dictate skills, your secondary dictates how the skills can work, it adds no new skills but builds upon existing ones.

Hey there! Ive a quest ion about the arena system in the game. I heard there will be 1v1 and 5v5 arena, are there any plans one 3v3? I feel like 5v5 is a bit much and 1v1 is obviously almost impossible to balance
The devs are not trying to balance around 1 v 1, more closely to groups of 8.

My biggest decision is gonna come down to if I wan’t to be part of a guild, or if I want to try to run as a non entity. On one hand, might be fun just being some guy with a homestead building up a trade and paying my taxes like a good citizen, watching the powers that be duke it out for royalty status....

Question - In regards for LEFT HANDED PLAYERS - many of us plays vastly different from our counterpart and even within other Lefties.
For me - one of the biggest make it or break it is the KEYBIND FUCTIONS.
Are we able to Keybind the following Keys: ENTER - Left Shift - Left CTRL - Left Alt - all of the NUMPAD Keys - Insert/Home/Pg up/down / End / Del?????
Are we able to add combination keys such as Left Shift + Numpad 1.
I like to reiterate certain keys are vastly important - for me personally - ENTER key is my jump key and I hate games that has a hard bind and forces us to use enter for chat log and not being able to re-bind it. Most lefties don't play WASD. Left hand on mouse - right hand on numpad - so those shifts/ctrl/alt keys are VITAL for us.
I think Steven has mentioned there will be some form of customization, but you may be able to post on the official forums or reddit if a dev does not respond here for clarification.

@onyx knoll wait i have a question....what goes up must come down concept...if u have griffons to glide down...ad not fly....u need to first be in air or be able to fly to glide down first right? whats the point of gliding mount if u cant have a fly mount and u are only on land?
We do plan to give you lots of options to customize, including the ability to set your own keybinds - some of that was present in Apocalypse testing as well 
@wintry seal Different terrain heights my friend. Some places are higher than others, and it is faster to glide down a mountain than it would be to go down by land on a land mount.
@wintry seal well there will probably very high areas that would be easier to get down from with a gliding mount than walking back down or through what ever way you got there originally the gliding mount is stil la normal mount used on the ground with the extra function

also gliding mounts might have a jump ability that gives you a bit of height initially

You pay the difference between what you have and what you want to upgrade to. So if you have a $250 pack, and BoW costs $500, you would pay the $250 difference

most dungeons are open world from what we've seen so doubt you get a full run waiting for some bosses / mobs to respawn @limber tendon

this : Of all these games that are coming with a more realistic theme, AOC is the one that has more enchanted. I ask the developers to give life to the characters. The Mage or I heard a lot of "haaa" "Huuuu" some sounds of effort. Make her say something, like invocations. More life to the characters = more immersion.

I doubt it, as the 2nd archetype just provides the augments to your primary skills iirc

I think the secondary does alot more than just augment a new flavor onto existing skills as they can change the way you would use them or depending on circumstances say for a fighter/cleric give self healing on attacks. and i think thats an important distinction when people say they add flavor to existing abilities imo
tank/tank is probably immortal
@unreal zealot secondaries can change your playstyle but not your role. its more than flavor, but doesn't fundamentally shift what you are expected to do.
Hopefully there is a way to play tank to do some decent damage as well, so I can play tank on my own but roll into guild raids to help dps, or maybe it won't be as strict as current games of only needing 1 or 2 tanks for encounters
Yeah so hopefully picking Rogue/Fighter/Mage as a secondary should help with that
@slow meadow oh yeh i wouldnt expect a cleric/tank to be able to fully change how the base archtype is meant to be played i can imagine this perticular combo to probably have one of your heals can increase the targets threat generation by x amount for x seconds or vise versa

correct you dont have to use a shield to tank but it may influence the abilities you want to put skill points in to like that shield bash

Yeah, we've seen talk about passives related to people's characters but exact info on the mechanic to the interactions of any of the nodes isn't known knowledge
Religions give augments to abilities and other passives. And all of the node types have superpowers when they reach metro status.
Also I think there will be religious wars. I think religions may stronger depending on how many nodes they have a temple in.
