@visual forge I'm not 100% sure, I did hear in the example of cleric that they make cleric a bit stronger at the start so they can solo level but there's a lot of info we don't know yet
@cinder shadow hard to say if an entire guild would be needed to supply the demand, that is something we cannot predict currently

@visual forge I think if your secondary class is a dps class you will be more like a high dps tank but if tank is your primary you will never be like someone who is a dps primary is how I think it’s going to work not 100% sure

There is a lot of people I know who plan on making content and stuff testing in a2

I think Steven said in the AMA that your primary class put you in one of [tank-heal-dps] and.your secondary adds flavor to that role to blur a little bit the barriers between the three

As a healer for life I know that they said the cleric will be balanced as to be able to solo in the early levels. We can safely assume it will be the same for the tanks

Hello all,i new in here ,very experienced in mmos,if i may ask when a2 will be launched?
I think if you go tank fighter,rouge,mage etc you will do plenty high dps to do any solo content you want and not feel like it just take forever to kill stuff
your going to have to party it up theres no way around it, it will take time for the first dungeons to populate and who wants to roam the wilderness by themselves, sounds dangerous

you can solo technically but the game incentivises team play even more than other mmo's. so while possible you won't get the full experience

I would think they would have to make the healer then dps and tank then dps feel as if they have the ability to kill stuff just not as well as a dps bc if not there will be very very few tanks and healers and that’s already a easy to see problem in most mmos

I think tanks will be viable in pvp I can see going tank cleric being really good in 1v1 you can’t lose if you can’t die

Was wondering about the repair system of tool and weapons, will anyone be able repair any tool/weapon of any quality or only a crafter that habe that quality skill level be able to ?
@eternal mason If you hare non-combatant, and a player comes up and decide to attack you, they have to make themselves combatant. Then they can damage you. You then have the choice of also turning on combatant, and trying to fight back, in which case if they kill you they gain a small amount of your metrials and do not become corrupted since you both were combatant. if you do NOT flag up, and they still kill you then they gain a larger amount of your materials but also become corrupted

@rose mist only crafters will be able to repair, and they will need materials to do so. The higher level your gear is the higher level of a crafter you'll need. Some legendary gear might only be able to be repaired by master crafters but that's not yet confirmed
so with the pvp mechanic in mind, will there be a bounty system built in? and will players be able to contribute in-game currency to the bounty pool of a spcific player?

yeah but if people slowly make it higher (for some obscure reason) and everybody does it, we're fucked (that will never happen but that would be pretty bad xD)
I feel like even a solo player can find his place and work his way up without a group but yea a group will have it more easy but thats how things are more hands the faster something goes
solo player will still need to talk with others and share information, too much stuff will be constantly changing for you to really manage to find everything on your own

The thing is current MMO are made so that people can play SOLO with almost no repercussion or detriment. Might as well be a normal RPG with some other online people walking around. This game is made to force interaction, no to the extent that is absolutely necessary but that it will be more convenient.

First tag get a bonus damage, but after that it's which ever group does the most damage
First tag has to do 40% of total damage to get the loot, other parties have to do 60%
how will the distribution of raw resources be made throughout the world? so if i wanted to gather a bunch of ore to sell to a blacksmith will there be nodes dedicated to specific ores like mines, or will the resources be more scattered in random rocks throughout the game?
the nodes will be scattered, and then large veins will sometimes spawn in certain locations around the map
they want to encourage information sharing, so if you're wandering around killing mobs and you find a vein you share the info with your guilds/friends and they can get there to gather it up
so with that i assume that the larger veins of ore will slowly dwindle over time as it would in the real world, in which case players would be forced to find another

a smaller portion will be scatered but the vast ammount will be concentrated because loot will be more valuable outside our region, so region with woods will have a loot of trees to chop next to the mountain region that has mines with more ore. This forces the needs for caravan to exchange goods between places

@novel rain we don't have a ton of info about the naval stuff yet, they're gona be releasing most of it during alpha 2, but you can craft caravans and ships to be what ever you want them to be from what we know.

@real dock Steven has voiced that as a healer he hated in AA when idiots in his group would go red and force him to go red by accidentally healing them, so I imagine you wouldn't auto-flag along with your party.

There's non-combatant/combatant/corrupted. Anyone who is flagged Purple (Combatant) is open for combat without corrupting you as well.

Do we have any idea how end game progression will be? One think I hate about WoW is the endless gear grind and gear reset after every expansion. Is that what we should expect from AoC too? Just keep grinding the next gear tier list?

Invisible for now. The idea is to give you as little information as possible, there will be no manual and no hand holding you need to learn stuff on the go or by asking.
I even like the change on the usual question/exclamantion mark for questing, the name color and shimmer of NPCs will elt you know
how is npc lvl's affected by a node's lvl?
I am curious how that will work with ZoIs not being a uniform shape, might run into some instances where you expect to be able to level a node and can't... I wonder if at least lists what the parent node is by name in vassal nodes in some way? (sorry for the tangent, kind of a rhetorical question.)

Falconer and beastmaster will be very different, the main archetype determine which skills you will have, while the 2nd will add augments (aka modifications) to existing skills. So, Beastmaster being a primary summoner, you will probably have a permanent animal summon, where as falconer, being a ranger primary might just have a falcon that shows up when you use certain skills
Is it possible to move to a different node when you're a citizen of another one? Or is that a difficult process, or maybe still unclear?

@dense shore You can change citizenship, there is a cooldown. Remember citizenship is based off of housing. So you would have to gain housing in the node you were swapping to, drop old citizenship, wait for cooldown, then become citizen in new node.

@iron quiver if you have a building in a city, and that city gets destroyed, the node will revert back to a lvl 0 node so you wouldn't be able to repurchase the same plot anyway since you can only have houses in lvl 3 nodes and up. The idea if a node is destroyed is that you go find a new town to settle in

Plus, you'll lose access to the developed stuff that's been built in your city like the crafting areas and/or auction houses, that sort of thing, until you can find a new node

Hello! I know nothing's set in stone with classes, but does anyone know if rogues will be the only class with access to stealth? Or if those who pick rogue as their secondary archetype can have access to a gimped version of stealth themselves?
So far Rogue is the only one that can use the stealth function, tho we are guessing that using rogue as a 2nd archetype will give you the ability to use short bursts of stealth in order to drop tab target

For the augment secondary things. There are things like Necromancers get Skellies, the charge teleport for fighters having a mage secondary, but what is the large benefit of going into the same primary class? Like Fighter/Fighter or Summoner/Summoner

Those that won beta keys in 2017 (total of 5 I believe were given out) were folded into the A0 testing.
It seems like there is a big emphasis on artisan classes to drive the economy of the game. If that's true, are there any plans of implementing a feature to even things out if, for example, 70% of the player base wants to be a gatherer (leaving the remaining 30% to be divided amoung to classes)?
all artisan classes are dependent on one another in some fashion, for instance gatherers will need better tools provided by crafters to gather higher tiered materials

and to some point you can do all 3 to an extent but can only master 1 of the 3 trees

there probably will be more gatherers anyways since everything deppends on raw materials but i dont think it will be 70%
if everyone starts off as gatherers, but then people realise that there aren't enough processors then some gatherers will switch to it to make more money
And when people realize they need better armor to get to those better gathering locations and survive, the crafters will come online.
i expect there to be plenty of crafters anyway because Animal Husbandry falls under their domain iirc

@opal hemlock very little is known about mounts and mount skills. It's possible that attack abilities are affected by the breeders skill in animal husbandry as their stats are affected by that as well

This may of been answered many times already. So for classes I see there is a primary and secondary which determines the class depending on the combination. So if I pick fighter and mage, I’m a spellsword. Are you able to change your secondary at any time? Assuming your primary is picked when you create a character so I assume that will never change.
primary- never changes
secondary-can be changed with a questline of effort

Unless I've misunderstood. It was mentioned that Auto Attack won't be a toggle etc but be its own "ability". That maintains relevance via assisting in proc based effects to enhance/reward your other abilities. Could you elaborate on the auto attack feature ex, does it have a CD/Seperate or unified GCD with other skills.
TLDR my main concern is will I have to break my fingers to max dmg vis spamming auto attack while using my other skills.

Proximity voice chat could definitely be exciting if those nearby hear you by default (and can mute).

Screamy kids will be muted and may rectify their behaviour when they notice everybody mutes them. Being able to quickly communicate with nearby people is very useful.

@wintry river by doing activities and and quests in the nodes zone of influence, you will be able to get player housing when the node reaches a certain level, through the housing, you will be able to become a citizen of a node, and citizens can become the mayor of a node

@muted loom yes you can upgrade, you will keep any rewards you already have, and then you receive what the higher packs give you. Price you pay to upgrade is the difference of value between the packs.
Will you be able to swap between different sub classes? If you swap back will you retain your progress? Will this let you do different builds for different situations without having to level alts?
@versed delta Yes you can switch, it'll take some effort and a quest but you can switch secondary (not primary). There is no progress loss that i'm aware, since you don't lvl you secondary independently. You can do different builds, but you can't switch in the middle of dungeons or stuff like that
@versed delta yes you will be able to swap sub-class, however doing so will require a reasonable amount of effort to do so. As far as progress, you will likely just need to assign skill points ang augments again

One thing I really liked about Elder Scrolls Online was the ability to change my gear and skills to change my role completly
unfortunately it won't be as free-form as ESO's or WoW spec switch
Seems like this game will reward players who want to play on a single character, but if this means that you are stuck playing the same role, that might not be the best

yeah, I hate leveling ults, especially in a game that seems as in depth as AOC.
I could level an ult in ESO in a day or two

@versed delta Swapping like that will require you to make a second character, the sub-classes are there to augment your primary class, and do not add any additional skills

right just wanted to see what we could possibly be looking at as far as starter type baseline as i like challenges, but dont want it to be to overwhelming...like the aspect of needing skill and punishing defeat but im not like trying to spend my time dead ya know?...like i want the fine line between i can reasonably do it albeit maybe tricky, but not impossible
good idea just saying fun for me is in the details and the difficulty, as if a game is a cake walk whats the point
@lapis sonnet at release everything will be fairly low lvl as nodes haven't been build up yet, but as nodes grow, you will find more higher level enemies as well as world bosses depending of the node stage. The game is being balanced around group play, but that doesn;t mean you won't be able to do stuff on your own
@lapis sonnet compared to other MMO this will be a challenge because it goes back to basics in the sense of hand holding and information gathering. There is no tutorial beyond probably an initial guidance. you need to find quests by yourself and figure out how to complete them. The environment will constantly evolve with node progression and its sandbox in the sense that what end game is for you might not be the same for someone else

Coming here from the discussion chat, the size of the world was supposed to be 450~km in size with 118Nodes holding up to 10k players. If each node can harbor 80 players per node, how big will each node be to accomodate said players so that we are not forced to infringe on other players spots for resource gathering/farming mobs/etc?

With the way node leveling and the vassal system works, it is highly unlikely (read: basically impossible) that there will be an even spread of people across the world.

So if all the high level players are in the high level areas, wont that just mean there will be constant pvping over resources on the node?

@acoustic bison That's where player/guild/alliance politics come into play.
@acoustic bison there wont be 80 people per node, node progression locks the surrounding nodes so they cant grow so basically there will be higher populated nodes and lower populated nodes, and neighbors will probably travel from node to node

@acoustic bison You can't damage somebody unless you purposefully flag to do so, so no one can force you to flag. People can still just attack you, but, that's just going to be an aspect of this game, I'm afraid.

@acoustic bison TO answer your original/base concern, how many people a node will be able to comfortably house from a content perspective isn't really able to answered right now, and we'll have to see going forward in testing.
@wintry river leveling a node will unlock harder content such as extra areas in dungeons, raid bosses, as well as things like ship building for costal nodes
On top of the benefits the node itself brings, as higher level nodes bring more convenience options/housing options/constructables like marketplaces and whatnot
Recommend watching content on youtube regarding the nodes since its massive and even with all the info we been given im sure there is even more out there.

Will we be able to create food from the corpses of other players?
Yes I kinda gathered that. I do hope to see this being brought up as that is a big turn off for players who just wanted to farm for stuff but get forced out by people encroaching on the resources in an area. Hopefully that will be seen more as testing progresses, because a lack of resources with a massive amount of high level players will just mean perpetual corruption, war, etc which can prevent people just hitting the end game/high level areas from even getting close.

If I get the opportunity to test the game though, definitly should make sure that the whole Karmabombing thing doesnt happen here or something similar. (Basically i understand that this game is revolving around risk and reward, but what i dont want to see is players being stuck outside of the reward factor because of some design undersight)
@acoustic bison keep in mind that for PvP if you're not flagged you can only attack a corrupted player, if that person kills you, they become more corrupted and lose combat effectiveness in PvP unless against a bounty hunter. at a certain point it will be extremely detrimental for a corrupted player to kill a non-combatant, and you can for them to kill you to karma-bomb

@acoustic bison Karma bombing (as I understand it) isn't really possible due to exp loss and the flagging system. You can't force someone to attack you, if you attack them they don't get corruption for killing you, and you lose exp (and a %of gathered materials) on death. However, fighting over resources can (and will) happen, and there will likely be times where you want to do one thing, but someone else wants to do it as well, and they're stronger than you. In this case, you'll either have to go elsewhere, or get friends to help you.
So for the PVP flagging how will AoE spells work as far as accidental hits especially at launch where 1/4 the server is at the same location

@young spindle Your AoE abilities simply won't hit other people unless you're flagged to do so.
@young spindle there will likely be a button you have to press to force yourself to attack a non-combatant, I've seen this other other MMO's as well. anyone that's flagged will be able to attack each other like you would a monster
Last I heard it was ctrl+f to flag, and there could potentially be checkbox option to allow aoe attacks or heals to automatically hit flagged targets when you are not flagged.
non-flagged cannot hurt flagged players, only corrupted
and non-flagged cannot heal flagged player too
Meaning a checkbox option to auto-flag you when attempting to do so, if you'd like that to happen
From the wiki: Players will be able to opt-in (via a checkbox) to allow their beneficial or non-beneficial AoEs to hit flagged players. If this is checked then AoE heals or damage will affect flagged players. If it is not checked then the AoE will not damage or heal any flagged players, and as such will not cause the caster to be flagged themselves (if they are not already)
so yes, auto flagging is possible
Are the maps on Apocalypse lifted from the main game? I understand the buildings probably are not or are upgrade options of the nodes, but I'd love to see on a world map where the Apocolypse maps are geographically.

@stiff vessel afaik, the apocalypse map is part of the larger world. I do know that player that were in Alpha 0 will be able to find the area they explored in the world as well.
