@plucky yacht ALso, it's only 8 classes worth of skills with a buttload of augmentations based on secondary archetype choices, so not quite as much as you'd fear to balance

I'm super excited to follow this game as ambitious as it is; but my main concern at this point is actually the system i'm most excited about; Nodes.
With Streamer influence these streamers are going to dictate where nodes will live and when nodes will die with sheer numbers. They would also (with their following) occupy at least 25% of a server capacity depending on the streamer. Are streamers going to be relegated to servers designated for them to use, (and possibly be first to be merged if the streamer leaves with his following)?

Hey guys, I've been very exited for AoC / AC? I've been showing Lazy Peon's vid to friends, and one of them saw a couple issues and I was wondering what you thought or what could be done to fix those issues.
Getting raided on big holidays like christmas.
Assaults on raid nights, so Raiders are forced not to raid.
Losing all gear to PvP hardcore players, since they won't care about being corrupted, since they will farm so easily

@brisk hawk I definitely feel you there. However it's a double edged sword. Streamers are big lightning rod for growth of a game. Just look at the size of the community since the impromptu internviews.
@low python Raids on holidays, possible if the siegers time it right. Perhaps with enough feedback they'd close siege options for that day. Assaults on raid nights, if your enemy guild/node knows your raid night, that's just how the cookie crumbles. It'll be siege night. You don't drop gear unless you're corrupted, and they will definitely care, as they will drop gear if they die.

Aight, so from what I've gathered about caravans pvp is that the caravan its self is a "pvp zone" which makes me think the the corruption system has no factor. If there is no corruption factor on the people attacking then what is the risk for the attackers? Is there none? If theres none then would that mean that everyone and their cousins nephew will be attacking me all the way from A to B trying to gain but not losing anything if they fail? I'm the only one that loses if I fail?

Changing the augmentations on your skills will require you to go to a NPC in a Village node or higher
@scenic pebble I mean, you (meaning attackers as well) still have a death penalty even when flagged as a combatant, but pretty much, yes, caravans are supposed to be risky.
I feel like it should be equally as risky for your attackers though you know what I mean? If I get ganked in say EVE, then there is a risk factor for both sides and it feels good. If my gankers didn't lose their stuff no one would ever move anything ever because thats all people would do is wait and ambush. Same in Albony. Now I know this game isnt full loot but it does have a L2 style drop system with karma. Idk I worry that if the attackers dont flag as corrupt where there will actually be risk for ganking then ganking caravans will be a lot of people past time lol and people will get tired of trying to use that system, thoughts?

@scenic pebble Makes sense; Caravan looter's probably wouldnt carry anything outside of gear used just to minimize any losses that they have. Would be cool if they dropped 'an ear' like in Diablo or some sort of trophy that translates to monetary gain, and making them unable to raid further caravans for a cooldown period of time.
@scenic pebble That's just part of the risk/reward system in place. You can pay people to help you protect your caravan, and like I said, attackers are still risking some of their held gatherables and their experience.

Right on. We'll have to see hopefully it works well. Would be a super fun thing to actually do. Both raiding caravans and defending them.
There's an entire progression system around protecting caravans (as well as assaulting them) so there's plenty of benefits for the defenders as well

In the AMA there was a little summoner/necromancer talk and from what Steven said it sounded like summoner was more like a WoW warlock (1 pet). Is that how it will be or will it be 1 main pet and then other timed stuff on top? I assume it will be fewer rather than more for server stability

i have a feeling, if theres no system like that in place, endgame raids will hav the bosses be trivial dieing in a few seconds, with a cluster of people zerging each other trying to get the most damage on the boss in the few seconds before it dies

also, I think a lot of dungeons will end up falling under guild-controlled nodes who won't be eager to let you near that territory at all

Aion had open world dungeons and they didn't have a system in place and it was usually farmed by the same groups logged out there or with a spiritmaster for summons. They just had large spawn times on key bosses.

@tender wren YOu are never going to have EIGHTY people twiddling their thumbs doing nothing for days at a time. They could get better gear by farming gold and buying crafting mats for it, since crafted gear equals raid gear in this game.

@tender wren I can give you an example from the tests we have already run. When we all got pulled to the dragon to die over and over and over to tail swipes, breath, etc, everyone just died then ran back in and died again. Eventually the dragon got down to half, spawned all the adds and wiped everyone a final time. People then went back to leveling and doing their own thing. An hour later everyone is boo hooing because they have built up enough exp debt from deaths that it will take them a month of grinding to recover. Most everyone deleted and re-rolled at that point because it was a test and we know the progress isn't being saved. In the live game, people are not going to repeatedly Leerrrooooyyy into boss fights that are one shots, they just fuck their character up beyond redemption. Risk v Reward.

my concern at the moment with ashes is i can already smell the big-groups-locking-people-out-of-content crowd. Or anything. If it's just you and a group of IRL friends or just gaming friends wanting to have fun, an a BIG group of notoriously hardcore gamers see you doing a thing... is there like any way to mitigate giant deathsquads just rolling people who just want to have fun, or is it "well youre playing an mmo, idk what you expected"?

@wet plume Now this is a legitimate concern, and I don't imagine the corruption system will do much to combat this. It's mostly just a matter of finding more friends if you want to tackle dangerous content.

If 80 people can camp a world boss and hold all its resources and get a monopoly on it then I can guarantee you that 80 people will do it quite happily.
I see it a lot in games like Ark Survival or The Isle or... well, any game really where people can jump on a server and just go ham. It makes me nervous lmao.

wasn't meant to be, but I used to be a part of a guild that fielded like 30 players and we stood our ground against monsters like Enigma in BDO EU, a guild that controlled the castle of the biggest city in the game

At the AMA, Steven mentioned that players can reserve server, will there be an instance of a guild (say his ex guild with 14000 members) reserving into a server, and with server size of 15-20k, be the majority population of the server? If so is there any intention to prevent that and how to prevent that
if east europe is one of those regions, I am paying higher sub to play on the western servers, but hearing Steven talk about the different regions that sounds like i should be able to, right? His guild had 14k members on their mailing list. Active was less. While there will be some larger guilds that join, that is up to Intrepid how they will handle that in the future. More info to come. As it stands right now there are only two "regions" Intrepid NA/OCE/SEA and My.Games EU. Neither offer discounted subs at this time.

I see that the systems of the game are designed to be encourage social gaming, is there any emphasis to systems to allow for solo players to not be penalised, ie lone wolf wanderer or solo mercenary system
yes, Steven mentioned how travel will take time, how you can only summon up to 8 players (including you) as a family but everyone else has to travel

Wanted my 1st character to be an explorer, to map the entire continent, but that seems to be locking myself out of many other aspects of the game

from what i hear, @spring cove it seems like a guild like mine would take one of the attractive nodes, keep to it and around it, and with limited travel our sphere of influence would be very limited, so you as an explorer might get a really good grind/gather opportunities just by staying further away while we would toil in a very contested area (do I understand those interviews correctly?)

a Blizzard spell gets cast, and firestorm spell gets cast to overlap it like a Venn Diagram, the first spell would persist and would only be dealing cold damage?

hello Devs & others, I have two questions and a comment. 1st Question, will game's UI be fully customizable (i understand its a work in progress) has there been any decision made on this?, 2nd question, will the game allow for 3rd party add-ons?. For the comment, I play gw2 at the moment and the particle effects from weapons and armor drowns alot of mechanics from mobs/bosses, it would be most helpful if you could add to the options to disable other people's particle effects.

Hey everyone, I have a questions about professions. Can a single character be a master in a single profession (ie fishing) or all professions in a given skill tree (ie crafting)?
Artisan Tree mastery
Gathering, Processing, or Crafting. All profs in those tree branches.
Think of it as a tree that splits into three strong branches. You can climb up one of them to the very end, but not the other two at the same time.
How many skills do you get at max level and how many can you set in your hotbar (screens I see so far reminds me of gw type, with restrictive hotbar setup)

so a serious question, as I heard in the interviews the dungeons scale according to how good you are, if you defeat the first boss really well and fast, the second one has harder AI, and better rewards. I understand it as if I have a dedicated organized group of dungeon runners, we can more or less replicate the feeling of Mythic Plus dungeons in WoW, with better rewards for speed and efficiency, would you guys say thats a correct assumption?

So you can't have freeholds on multiple servers

But I honestly think, with the enormous scale of the world, you'll have plenty of opportunities
Bounty hunter quests boards will only be available at Military nodes
They have said other nodes will be able to get bounty boards, but it won't be automatic

All depends. Everyone seems to feel that there will only be one or two nodes being developed that they will be interested in. There are going to be a ton. The game world is huge.
Hi all. New here. Have they released any in depth information and/or discussions on how guilds will be handled? I only found out about Ashes two days ago and have been binging YT videos x3
Alpha Island is only a small starting area and 3 variable terrain nodes. And it is huge. Takes 15 min or so just to run from one node to another. (Not talking about the flying cheating we had for early tests)

They have still not verified if progress is lost in one if you swap either. So you could swap from ranger, lose all augment progression, go mage, think it sucks, swap back to ranger and have to do it all over again. Has yet to be ruled on, but probable.

But I agree, they will need more areas now that there is more activity. But invariably what happens is the hype will tune down in a week or so after the livestream on Friday and we will be back to month long gaps in activity. Once testing is out of NDA could be needed though.

They will have the power to make you an enemy of the state for a gold cost. Each one they do increases in cost though. And if done arbitrarily could cost them in various ways from other players.
It will level off but won't be this consistent. AoC has had spikes before and then everyone See's NDA and can't buy into it and they chill for 6 months
And soon alpha 1 is out which will bring more hype

WIll caravan drivers put a fast magical booster on their horses feet to escape bad guys?
You will be able to put specific mounts into caravan builds. Mounts can be bred for stats including speed.
Will pets level with us or will we have to level them seperately?
