Just out of curiousity (I notice it while watching TheLazyPeon Overview about this game), Regarding the Corruption System for PK-ers, is it possible for a non-combatant player, get penalize for accidently kill another player? A scenario come to mind when I saw a mage (some sort) using a very wide AoE magic, If a PKers would team up with 2 other player and let the other 2 went suicide into the magic, like purposely baiting the system to mark that non-combatant player into a Combatant status and repeat it to be a Corrupted... is there a way to negate it..?
Finished items wont get destroyed tho so you'll get them mailed to you if your storage gets destroyed
You cannot accidentally kill someone as a non combattant
There is a "toggle" you can turn on and off, that makes it so that you will not hit some people with it that counts for AoE

From this I'd say that not only killing monsters but quests, completing dungeons, and maybe other special requirements depending on the node type will be need to upgrade the node location to the higher levels.

@rare geyser archetypes chosen at level 1 define your skills. The secondary class (chosen at level 25) gives you augments for those skills

@full badger i think at the current state it would be difficult to implement a DK as a nevromancer is created by mixing a cleric with a summoner so in that perspective you would need to then multclass again with a warrior or something to achieve death knight

One pet peeve I have about MMO's in general is the difficult quests that yield powerful item rewards in earlier levels quickly get swapped out and become useless as your character progresses. Has AoC done anything to mitigate that to allow completing difficult things early to mean something for your character later instead of the "rush to level cap" approach we see in other MMO?

crafting gear by master artisans and top tier raiding gear will always be king unless it ends up like wow vanilla where a level 45 item has that good of stats they use it until black wing lair
@oak knot Clouds, i feel like. Unless it's a specific quest reward or flavour item. At some point, items should be replaced. You wouldn't feel great if you're best possible weapon came from lvl 11 when your lvl 60
@oak knot kinda, they will put a lot of focus on crafting, and materials you get early will still be relevant later, so if you get rewarded mats during lowbie quests you can either use them now for crafting gear relevant to your current level, or save them and sell or use them later for higher level crafted gear

I can give you an example of what i mean with WoW if you'd like.
@trim geyser I hear you and im definitely not suggesting that level 10 gear should be applicable in end game. The problem that I have is like, why would I take the time to do something difficult at a low level to get a reward if it doesn't result in some type of meaningful reward? I'd rather just level my character. And yea I get like items will help me level faster, but in most mmo's it's really underwhelming how much that gear matters for leveling relative to the time spent for the reward.
I think that will all depends on how fast you can actually level.

AoC are hesitant to put an exact number on reaching max level, partly cos there are so many things to do - but a number thrown around was 45 days of multiple hours a day
They're estimating that it'll take 45 days to reach max level if you play 4-6 hours per day, so you might be using a low level piece of gear for a fair amount of time
You know that there will be players(Streamers) that will attempt to be the first level capped anyway

but mastering each one will require a lot of work, it won't be like; you become a master gatherer after one quest, it'll be; you become a master miner, now you can work hard and do a bunch of stuff to also become a master lumberjack

@glossy wedge From what we understand, master craftsmen will be required to craft legendary items, but there will probably be more then 1 per server. It'll be a decent time investment but not super crazy hard so it's expected that there will be a decent amount of each master craftsmen after a while. It's very possible that the fastest ones will start earning themselves a reputation and be knwn by name through their server tho!

@unkempt depot the game only hardly punishes PKing people who don’t fight back in the open world. There aren’t going to be systems to support that playstyle
as for the alpha 2, which you can buy in through the preorder, we also don't have a date for that. Alpha 1 will be in fall, then alpha 2 will depend on how well that 1st one goes
Ok question on open world PVP specifically the corruption system. so the biggest punishment of running around and killing random people is that you become corrupted and recieve debuffs that make you weaker with every other random person you kill. upon death you lose loot. losing loot seems to be the biggest punishment of doing this which is a good idea however, what happens when a max level player throws everything in the bank and then runs around naked killing low level people all day what punishment awaits them since they are naked they wont lose any loot.

PKers can get a portion of the gatherable raw materials from their victims, have access to some corrupt only quests, can get rewards from killing bounty hunters (who have the ability to track PKers), have their own graveyards further apart that you don't go to the closest one. -> Pking isn't meant to be rewarding, but there are rewards.

QUESTION: I play a priest in wow. I use the vuhdo addon so I mouseover heal the nameplates of people etc. How does healing work in this game, will it be the same? Or will it only be by aiming at the actual players so mousing over each player in the open world?

Various places like getting volunteers like the wiki (takes a lot of different types of work), or article writers for Ashespost, there are occasionally content creators looking for editors, etc.

QUESTION: Whats the CC like in this game. Is it 18 second DR like wow. Typical 6s then 3s then 1.5s cc chains. Or is it more like league of legends and you cc for 1s and thats it, and need to chain quick and kill times are quick.

Node Question: So we're told that node progression will lock out other nodes from progressing as they grow in sizes. Is this something every node can do - or are there designated side nodes that all feed into a major node, and essentially play lesser roles. It just seems the classes are too dps sided, there are 4.5 dps classes, 2.5 support classes, and 1.5 tank classes (summoner can do a bit of all so thats why the .5)

We will only be able to know once we get to alpha 2 or later. We don’t know how the augments from tank secondary will work for classes
in an 8 man group you really only need 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 support @whole dawn so I think it's fine, especially considering the bard can also off heal, and if there's a summoner they can help back up any of those 3 roles, and then your dps will all have some different variety of dps, or maybe they're dps with extra self healing or self buffing or self defense whatever depending on augments
Moving along the 3 archtypes for supprt/dps/tank we can assume that the fight will have SOME capacity to be a tank-y type class but not as good as the Tank itself

you should be able to lvl solo but you're also encouraged to do it with a team

Depending on how they end up tweaking corruption penalties hopefully there is no real incentive to kill a green flagged player unless you suspect they have ridiculously rare loot or they really got you mad for some reason
Tell her she can just stay in a town and be a tavern keeper, animal breeder or some other worker without much pvp

Hello there.
I recently get more interested into this game by looking videos/wiki. I have seen there would be a "corrupted system" that is mean to prevent players to constantly stomp beginners or pacific players.
If I get this right, a corrupted status is applied once you have killed a beginner or a pacific players.
I don't know if this situation have been related before, but I am afraid that some nasty players exploit this system by using a new, low level, or pacific character and, on purpose, get suicide into different AoE on the battleField to put the "corrupted" status on their enemies to loot them.
Would such an exploit be an issue later on ?

Quick question, so by picking a main archetype class for example mage and then a second mage as my second archetype how does the class vary? Or like what the benefit of picking the same archetype for the second one rather than a different.
@open agate the idea is that AoE skills or healing skill will not work on a player flagged for pvp or a corrupted player unless you are also flagged for pvp
Your augments will make the skills stronger etc

By having the same archetypes for primary and secondary you fully embrace that path and gain better mastery of your skills

@open agate If you are unflagged and someone runs into your AoE, they take 0 dmg. If you are flagged, and you throw spells at someone who isn't flagged, if they don't defend themselves you become corrupted. You can't force someone to become corrupted

Yes but my and my best friend are usually both healers and when we are on without our dps buddys it can be....slow to kill

@slate fox When you die you have a small chance of dropping raw or processed goods. When you are corrupted you have a chance to drop completed items and gear

I don't think they released a percent yet, they will likely test that @slate fox but I do know that "normal" death penalty is for green/unflagged and flagged/purple players will have half the penalty, with corrupted being 3-4x normal

Answering here since you asked your question in english, alpha 1 is something that was offered during the kickstarter. They might open it up if they really need to later on but for now you can't get into it anymore. They should release a statement when they remove the alpha 2 packs from the shop if you want to wait, but after a certain time you prob won't be able to buy it anymore and you'll miss out
forget those 250 dollars. the lawyer necessary working through my preknob, checking if "MMO" applies to "Alpha- Beta-Version" will cost double. and if he says yes, its gonna cost double anyway xD so here is my question. know any good marriage-councils and or divorce-lawyers? xD but my actual question is: what would you guess? is alpha wave 2 more 6 months or 4 years from now?

@boreal osprey All node locations are fixed. But there are 103 different nodes and only 5 can become metropolis, so the location of the metropolis can be very different on each server
