The answer to that is it would be inconvenient to someone no matter when they did it. You will never make everyone happy, so go with what works for them. Having the stream during their regular working hours may be inconvenient for you, but they don't have to ask anyone to come in the middle of the night to do a promotional information stream.
also they have livestream once a month, most usually on Fridays. it's really no issue for us Europeans.

Steven doesn't like grinding. Don't think they will intentionally make grinding a thing or set up rewards for it

Fighters would be good at rushing backline and going after Spellcasters
Some clarification on yesterdays stream; Prone and Crouch will likely not be in the game, freehold plots will require a certificate from the parenting stage 3 or above node in order to place the plot, buildings will require blueprints and materials, back and belt slots will have priority of appearance chosen by the player ie weapon/cape/shield and potion/pouch/scroll etc. ❤

Is it going to be essentially a mage with a pet or do you plan on the focus being more-so on the pets themselves in terms?

Whats combat like, is it more combo based or damage trading based? Also I see resistances on passive, is that resistance on the chance of getting CCed, pretty much how much of an effect does RNG have on PvP?
Combat is the next major milestone so we don't have that information. In the current state it's more like gw2 combat.

Hopefully this question hasn't been asked already, but when teams siege your town, there's going to be mean people out there whose only purpose is to destroy what other have put maybe hundreds of hours into building. Is there a limit to the damage that can be done? Do you recover your materials or have reduced rebuild time? How does this work?
@crystal beacon the same amount of time, effort and cost that went into building a node is required to carry out a siege on that node. The limitation is therefore time based and economic
@crystal beacon yes, you can invest money into hit points, speed and other stats for your caravan. You can also choose to hire NPC guards to protect it. And of course you can have your friends, guild mates or some other group of people to protect it
@lavish raptor there will be practical limits on how many people can be involved in alpha 1 testing, but so far we don't know what these will be

How do player homes work? If there's a siege, is the house destroyable? If it is, do you lose all your stuff inside and have to earn it back? Or is it safe?
Homes outside of the node are called freeholds. Whenever you add decorations and place them in your freehold it saves them to a blueprint. And if a siege were to destroy your house the house would be destroyed but your items would be saved

@flint depot there will be cargo ships. they were playing with the idea of driving a caravan onto a boat, but that was just speculation during a livestream

@flint depot Water content (above and below) was part of the Kickstarter stretch goals that were achieved. There will be water caravan routes. Mechanics discussed but not confirmed are possibly taking your caravan to the coast, then through a process converting to a boat, travelling, then converting back on far side. As it is a stretch goal it is less of a priority than core systems upon release, but they have said many, many times that things are coming along nicely and we should see most if not all stretch content before live launch.
@crystal beacon There will be a marriage mechanic. Whether there are any benefits beyond cosmetic remain to be seen. There are 4 main races with two sub races each and a bonus race that is chimearic.

Running around and buffing/healing random people was always a lot of fun in EQ1 and since buffs became group only in all MMO's, it had an impact of the community. Will ashes allow this?
Heals maybe, some buffs, but some buffs also are only for nearby party members, since the game is non faction based it would be really awkward if you healed or buffed someone who then flags up and kills you.
I remember in flyforfun buffing everyone I came across to level up my buffs..... fun times
They did address this in an earlier livestream. You will be able to buff/heal others outside of your group. If you buff someone who is flagged, you will become flagged also. Most likely will only work with direct targetted abilities, since those are needed to initiate flagging. There is no "run through aoe and flag" planned.
Any hints as to what kind of character customization we'll see? Preset faces or Bless-level refinement?

@timid warren 3 types, very limited housing in nodes, that grow with the node to mansions, instance apartments in the node, and freeholds are outside of the node, where you create it from blueprints etc.

What is the advantage to buying a pre order now?
You get to purchase future cosmetics (at your package level or lower) month to month a la carte as they are released. Once their month goes by, they will not be offered again. Other than that, it is possible at some point the testing phases could become full (not likely) and they could stop offering testing access. And finally, IS has a history of the package "value" declining over time. Meaning that people who got in at the beginning with KS got a lot more bang for their buck for say $500 over those that are buying the $500 package now.

Okay, I understand if this question can't really be answered yet. It's just basically my main itch.
I'm presently concerned with the class system. If I was the Necromancer, is that just going to be, say, the typical time-reliant summon with like a lifesteal effect added on to the minions? Or would I expect to see generally necromantic flair in the skills that are fundamentally different than other summoners?
Like, using corpses for minions, or lifedrain, etc.

Because we're non-faction based we want to grant the user the ability to either do things that are "evil" or "good". There has to be a plethora of choices on the evil side for them to participate in. We’re taking a twist on the identity of necromancers. Traditionally their evil in the sense that they corrupt death or to serve some kind of necromantic lore. I view the necromancer as a master of life and death. The way I want to implement our necromancer, you can choose to be a necromancer for good or dark and twisted things. Either is viable. If you want to work with spirits that aid you can do that. If you want to summon skeletons/zombies/undead creatures you can do that and use them for you will as well.

Customizing mappings of controls is something that would done by the user and would be proprietary to their own controls within the settings. We have not seen key mapping to date, so do not have an idea of how granular those might be. Once provided detail, the user can then best determine their individual use case needs and how to meet those.
The key factor here is knowing that you would be using settings within the game to map to your needs. It would not be an integrated option

I think you can put the skin on any ship.
There will be a few different ship types, the only one we've been told about is the galleon. I imagine there will be skiffs and merchant class trade ships

I'm curious, for siege battles will there be say gunpowder barrels / cannons to do siege damage potentially? I always thought of it as ballistae / trebuchet / catapults, but gunpowder magic explosion barrels would make for potentially really fun play with getting creative with sieges

would have to make another character to level up and go different class primary. pretty sure it was said you wont be able to change the primary class of a char only secondary so if say you were (rouge primary tank secondary) you could change (rouge primary mage secondary) but you couldnt change that char to be a mage primary.

@tall bloom We have a statement during a very early livestream that "max" level would take around 45-60 days for a "normal" player. Now what is normal to them is key, and we know now that max combat level does not mean you are done with horizontal levelling of things like secondary class, weapon skills, and augments. There are natural time gates to levelling built into the node system. <Speculation> If mobs greatly below your combat level give no vertical exp, and a node takes a few weeks to progress to level 4 where the tier of higher level mobs start to appear, could gate it nicely.

With regard to attributes, can each player determine how many points put on each attribute?
Regarding skills, how will the up? Will you distribute points to skills that you find most interesting or will they become stronger as you use them?
Another thing, to level up, to earn items, money ... the player will be dependent on the quest? Or the quest will be a complementary form that the player can use to accomplish such things?

@obtuse bison I think it's intended that you gain some stats as you level, different races will affect stats, but I don't think there's player assignment of stats until you get to things like gear choice
- There's currently a skill point system, with skills in a tree, skills having multiple levels, and it's intended that not all skills be fully unlockable with the available points
- It's intended that Quests be the main way of leveling up - note that Intrepid splits the term Quests that some other games would use into 'Quests' and 'Tasks" - Quests are supposed to be storyline related while 'Tasks' are things like 'Kill x wolves' - While I'm sure that quests will give some currency, there will also be a lot of other ways to acquire currency (Ashes is set to have a robust economy)

Based on the footage I've seen, it seems like towns, cities, etc (not to mention freeholds) are always square. Is this always going to be the case? It's a minor thing, but to me this looks really goofy in a game that is so visually impressive and otherwise has interesting and complex architecture.

The A0 keys were given away based on "participation" earlier on. Which led to people on Discord getting an almost 4 to 1 key win rate over those on the forums. After this was pointed out and bitched about for a good long while, they decided to go with a random draw. So.....since you now are drawing from the pool of available accounts estimated to be around 100k at this time, and since other giveaways like stream raffles don't affect those numbers, you have a 5/100000 chance of winning a key/week. So the odds of you getting one just because you feel you've been hanging around for a long time is miniscule at best.

@crystal beacon All we know so far it there will be "tiers". If you are looking for a ranking system similar to other mmos where you need a certain "item level" to do certain content, probably not. If your gear isn't up to snuff, you will die, repeatedly and often.

How will the AoC do to take the repetitive quest at the beginning of the game? Well, frankly, you can always do the same quest to kill a monster, only aiming ...
They will have story quests which give lore so expect those quests to be more meaningful. Then they will have 'tasks' which are the sort of repetitive quests to kill a bunch of ogres in the mountains or some wolves in the forest. There will also be additional tasks given by your node leaders.
Will the story of the beginning have both paths to follow? So marshalling the items won by the quest and character development?

Questing will not exactly be linear and depending on where you start off in AoC you will have a different questing experience compared to someone else additionally some npcs will respond differently to your character depending on its race.. there are a lot of variables when it comes to questing in AoC

Will there be an option to have a purely cosmetic armor option? What I mean by that is you'll still be wearing your gear, but you can have a cosmetic set over that just for looks.
@twilit rose I believe that cosmetic armor slots were confirmed but I am going from memory. I am unsure if the whole system of it has been completely hashed out but I believe that you will have cosmetic slots that will provide the look of your character and the regular slots that provide the stats of your armor, and the look if you leave the cosmetic slots empty.

@iron gorge No, but it doesn't hurt - There are some activities like instanced 40 man raids or castle sieges that are intended for large organized groups, but a solo player could eventually find a pick up spot in a raid or just show up to a castle siege without worrying about the organization aspect of it - You might say that at least being in a small relatively unpopular guild would at least help out the Ashes experience from making sure you get some of the intended social aspects / whatever sort of perks guild members receive

@iron gorge they've stated several times that they want to provide experiences for all types of players. Some content is meant for small/medium sized guilds and isn't intended/available for large guilds
also certain guild progression is unavailable to larger guilds and vice versa
i think i remember that the guild leader will choose between more slots for new peoples or buffs for all the guild, so small guilds have their chances against a bigger one. @iron gorge
@drowsy holly That is correct. There will be guild "points" that will be spent in "trees". You don't have enough points to go up every branch of the tree. One of those branches will affect guild max member count. So you can have that 300 person guild, you are just foregoing other benefits that smaller, leaner guilds will have access to by going farther up other trees.

Correct. They have stated this multiple times. There is no gifting of account purchased cosmetics, either as rewards from KS/Summer, a la carte addons, or package contents. There will be no transferring of Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. If you see someone advertising "Go to my site to buy these cosmetics at a discount!" it is a scam. Certain content creators may be given a limited number of special cosmetics that they may gift during their streams or shows. Those are controlled by IS and will not be able to be transferred between players at a later date.

As to leaving, they said no, but i was curious about disbanding. Since not being able to retain the goods again, ..well it has pros and cons though. But the cons will induce some mad kids, while the pros will make sure a guild probably staying alive for much longer, and that guild dedication is more prominent than in other games where guild hopping is a thing. But it also makes giving stuff to a guild something to think long and hard about to. Good stuff, hope this will be answered.

what they mean is, that you can equip any weapon in ashes, but that can be proven to be completely uneffective in combination with your class, and on the other side, some skills of your class might work only with specific type of weapon equipped
changing a weapon will not dramatically change your skill pool (like GW2 does for example)

Pretty sure the weapon/class system will work as you have weapon skills and class skills, some class skills require certain weapons while others wont. so for example shield bash would require a shield, no shield, no bash.
And from what I understand, leveling up using a certain type of weapon will have its own skill tree for abilities. So every player will be a mix of weapon/class skills as apposed to class only. Which is more fair because why should you be locked into certain skills and weapons. Neverwinter is a great example of a roller coaster game with prechosen everything. They PRETEND to give you choice, when really its all planned. If you play a warlock, you use one type of weapon and one type of armor, don't like it, too bad. And its the dumbest thing games could ever do.
Ashes seems to want to give player choice and freedom. GW2 was just a hodgepodge of crap. Although you could use certain weapon choices, they all had locked skills for what you could do which IMO ruined it. Which like I mentioned above, just because you have a sword and shield doesn't mean you are locked into using shield bash, maybe you will use shield throw instead and put points into that. So each choice will be your own.
Intrepid spoke of taking hints of Star Wars Galaxies into account, mostly in crafting. However, based on the idea of "use it to level it" in terms of weapons, its very likely that each type of weapon will have its own skill tree and its own choices. So not only do you have choice of weapon, but you also have choice of skills to go with it. While one person might use a bow and shoot 3 arrows at the same time, another might go magical arrows with fire/ice/lightning sub damages.

so even if there aren't good default keybindings to say use only one side of the keyboard or use a footpad by default we'll have the ability as players to set the keybinds ourselves as needed
The Ui itself is also supposed to be very customizable, but the only thing I can think of that they've specifically mentioned in terms of UI disability support are colorblind modes

So, I know it's been mentioned that there will be different classes of ships; will that include naval combat and pirating?
Steven: We haven't really gone into detail on Ships Yet. Their not really like Archage or BDO, there are aspects of them that are similar to both though. We have a blog series that will be spooling up. We have accrued a few blogs that will be released on a regular schedule that have some good info. Ships have their own class of vessel. The class related to the vessel has a certain purpose both in battle, in PvE raids, in transportation, all of those things are kind of unique in that sense. I haven't seen it really done in another game before. Those classes of ships will be things that people can build multiple types of, summon their ships up, similar to AA, but you need to summon them from land. So if something happens to your armada at sea you won’t have backups to just summon immediately in the fight again. Those battles are going to be meaningful, if you eliminate your opponent they won’t be able to get up and running again out at sea and will have to go to shore somewhere to some port or harbor.

So, I was told about AoC a while ago, and since then, I've been following up all the news about it, the developing and also telling the good news to my MMO's good friends.
Although, for me, there's a huge problem with this: Myself, the person that told me about the game, my friends, and all to people I find who wants to playit are from Latin America (Brasil and Chile, to be more specific).
I've heard you have no intention on this initial phases to open a South America server. So, I'm hopefully asking if there is a slight chance for Intrepid to reconsider it.
The same thing about the open alpha/beta key sales. All the price are in US Dollar, which is 4x more expensive than our current money, so It's almost impossible for us to buy the Alpha 1 Key pass, since it would be the same as a North American person pay $2.000,00 on this, although we are completely dying to get this ASAP to guarantee it. Is there a chance of a money correction regarding foreign countries (especially SA)?

@vestal mica For now, the confirmed servers for initial phases are North America, Europe, Southeast Asia/Oceania, however servers for other regions will show up if there is enough demand for them. For instance, if there is enough demand for South America then Intrepid will launch that server for it. As for money correction... I’ll leave that to Intrepid or more knowledgeable mod to answer that.
Question: I keep seeing jokes in fan art about secondary clerics can only heal themselves but primary can heal themselves and allies. I cannot find anything on the AOC wikis, anyone have sources on this being true or not?

@eager rock wont be confirmed till we get hands on the augments and we can test stuff out, its been speculated both ways steven went on to say some of the classes having cleric augments will be able to heal grp, but pali will heal themselves, so until we get the info its left up in the air.
Okay so as of right now it's just all speculation there has been no hard conclusion on the healing system. It would be a nice balancing mechanic by doing this
yes, nothing is set in stone yet. Wont know till we get to play around with all augments, I sorta think most will heal themselves, a few support classes like bard/summoner might be able to heal others. Sorta makes sense thinking about it. But like I said nothing is set in stone as of yet

To clarify, they're speaking about the Tulnar which are an ancient admixture of many major and minor races that once existed across Verra. We don't know exactly how far the furthest extremes will be, but we do know that—as Zeke and Phantom said—they can be closer to "mammalian animal"/"reptilian"/"humanoid" depending on what you pick. Here are some silhouettes to give you an idea of concepts they're working with.

Yep, don't look at those early Tulnar images from right after the Kickstarter as any indication of what will appear in game, or even what the Tulnar will even look like. Stated that they were early, early concept images and some of those may have even made their way into npc mob and boss concepts.

From what we've seen of A0 there are talent points but I don't think we have any indication on ultimate UI intention for that

I am curious as to the properties and extent of the customization of ashes of creation. Will there be body sliders in this game for character customization similar to that of skyrim/black desert online or will there be the triangle system approach like in eso? @crystal beacon I have no idea how to do that. The game’s resolution is set to 3440x1440 but it still cuts off a bit of the top and bottom, as well as stretching the sides progressively.

Will the class list actually happen as posted above and will the classes look different/have different equipment (class specific)/different skills? I’ve never seen a game try to produce 64 classes before. 🤔😰😬
The augments of the mix between your primary/secondary class will create a unique taste/etc for you. Basically creating 64 classes. Some might have overlap some might have fire/vs shadow etc dmg. on certain abilities but their will be unique augments for each combination of primary/secondary

@cobalt gate A way of looking at it might be sort of as 8 classes that each have 8 different specs - classes in the columns share base abilities with others in the column, but each of the secondary classes will modify the abilities (changing damage type, or to a damage over time, or removing some of the damage to add a knockback etc. - Also changes the Animation/particle effects of the skill)

@vestal knot crafters are supposed to have jobs in siege prep at least, I can't recall them having specific mid-siege roles mentioned - NPC corpses are at least a thing (some can be seen on livestreams)

I'm going to guess that pure classes will be the meta. Cleric/rogue won't be as healing egficient as Cleric/Cleric....but there is always pvp to consider
A cleric roughs might be able to defend itself better though by avoiding attacks or healing allies without enemies being able to notice them

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking so im going to try to answer everything you could mean that comes to my mind. After you declare a siege on a node that node has some time to prepare (2 days for a village, 3 for a town, 4 for a city and 5 for a metro). After that the siege itself will last for up to 2 hours. Also a siege can only be declared during reasonable hours for the servers location.

judging by how all other games I've played handles stealth, you can see them when you're close enough. there might be a see invisibility spell. but other than that, unless they are partied up, rogues cannot see through each other's stealth

So question. The leaders of the nodes who dictate what gets built in the city have access to the taxes placed upon the citizens. Are those leaders able to just pocket all the tax money and keep it for themselves? I'd rather this not be the case
all the tax money stays within the node to further develop said node it can not be taken out by the mayors
the tax money can be used for;
-building defenses
-node events
-building additional buildings -homes as an example

@slender shuttle summoner class hasnt been revealed to us yet, all we know is scraps of info we got from the last PAX, we know a few of the summoner classes will have 1 pet. Others will have a few. Hope this helps.

I believe there isn't a test right now. But keep A0 questions within the A0 channels. You should receive an email when testing starts back up.
