They put all as Dec 2018 to give themselves breathing room. The concensus from those that have been here awhile is that we may see Alpha 1 around summer, but that is just pure speculation. The alpha 1 is meant to be most of the game map in place, most systems up and running to be tested and broken, they have a lonnnnng way to go.

@valid sierra Perhaps your question is asking will there be instanced dungeons/raids the answer to which is yes --- AoC is more setup to have people compete for server firsts than world firsts, with the way that it might take three months for your server to unlock a particular raid; if your server unlocks raid A and a different server unlocks raid B, hopefully the other server would clear raid B within the roughly 3 months they have before your server can unlock it - I guess an extemely hardcore guild could theoretically try something like rolling characters on every server, leveling them all to max, gearing them all, and trying to clear the raids as they open on multiple servers - which sounds like the sort of thing a hardcore guild might be interested in

@snow yoke NDA stands for none disclosure agreement. Meaning that you are forbidden to disclose the content with anyone, regardless of its form (video, msg, song). Again, these varies from each contract to contract and we will have to see the specific contract to know for sure.

A friend asked me a question today as I was describing the game to him. When I talked about nodes and how the world is player-built, he basically asked me, "How does storage work? If your node gets attacked and destroyed, do you lose everything?"
So is there basically a safe place you can store your items and stuff or can you potentially lose everything this way? If so, do you only keep the items you have in your inventory, and can players that kill you take from your corpse what you have in your inventory?

I don't think we know 100% about storage in settlements, but if you lose your freehold for any reason the contents will be mailed to you, I would assume that items you have stored in a settlement would work the same

People can loot varying percentages of gathered/processed materials based on your flagging status when killed
Freeholds will not have static decorations destroyed. If a siege is successful there is a two hour window where your freehold could possibly come under attack, and certain things could be looted as in resources, items in storage not so much. Will be clarified in testing

@ancient dew As of right now, no there is not. But since Alpha 0 is coming out, you may ask the testers their PC specs and if they were running the game fine. You cant ask any more then that since that would be breaching the NDA. But asking the testers PC specs and if they could run the game fine is more like a personal matter. But since it would be an Alpha assumption, I dont suggest getting the exact same specs from one of the testers (unless it is a very high spec computer) since the requierment for the game might increase later on.
My estimation of the amount of hte storage the game would take is around 40 gigs just so you know.

Yeah what I was thinking too as an other approach plus what you've provided is exactly what I was thinking would be a good goal. We still have 2 years before there is any guarantee that we will be able to play. But for me building a PC to comfortably play any modern game will be an investment. I've been out of MMORPG gaming on PC for so long because there is really nothing but crap out there right now that I have a lot of planning to do.

LOL Ok I think that is a "If you have this you will have no problems running the game at full tilt." So I think that this is the recommended not the mininmal. That's some top end gear. Since game is still in pre Alpha they likely have not done any testing for bottom end minimally to top end (diminishing returns) scales.

Alpha 2 states to be "persistent and up untill the launch". Does this mean that the servers of alpha 2 are gonna be always on and accessible always?

Just before live launch the test servers will be wiped. Their previous statements said server, but with the number of people that are now in testing, they will need a minimum of 4. One of those wiped servers will become the official test server. The main point is no one will have an advantage over anyone else by having tested. Headstart servers will have their node advancement turned off until non-headstart servers go live. "Always on" is a misnomer, there will be times that servers are down for maintenance and upgrades, the whole point of testing.

So finally got around to watching last weeks stream. Yes i know its super alpha, but got me wondering. Is most of the group play going to be limited to the open world dungeons? And if so is there a worry about not enough, or long enough group content to encourage steady or longer group play. It seemed like the idea for the open world was that most of the mobs were meant for solo player. Isn't there a worry that limiting group mobs to dungeons will result in clustered open world dungeons and a player clog in said areas?

Not sure about the classes update, but as far as cleric going into necromancer it makes sense considering Intrepid’s description of the cleric. They’re supposed to be controlling life points which can go both ways (increase and decrease). Their damaging spells often siphon life. @lusty raft

@spiral torrent I agree, and I understand the basis. As a die hard necromancer fan I feel the combination of the two is correct. I guess the worry stems from so many let downs on necromancer classes before - with the standard DND Necromancer being the basis for a lot of my judgments.

As I understand it, there are 4 portals on the outside of the map, so sure many solo players will try to grow nodes near them, but I would be amazed if some of the bigger guilds didn't push towards the middle and try to make their own settlements

@ripe swallow Fun question - 1 of 5 starting locations - there's an area directly around the starting locations that's a 'beginer' area that doesn't contriubte to any normal node, areas around starting portals probabbly are likely to grow up, but the node that grows up first one one side will lock out the nodes near it, people will deliberately run to other places they want nodes to be like the area around castles / insert other location considered strategic

Well it depends on what you want with your game. At launch there won't be a box price, just the $15 per month subscription. The packages are if you care about limited time cosmetics and want to get into Alpha and Beta phases. If you want to wait till the game is acually out, you just need to drop $15 to try it for a month.

@half spindle depends on your definition of fast paced. If you're comparing it to other games it's not as fast paced as say Black Desert or Tera. Based on the videos posted of the alpha 0. It looks more akin to world of warcraft or Swtor. Global cool down doesn't seem to be less than 1 second. Though the game is still in pre alpha so that could change.
