I probabbly don't understand ESO weapon skills system enough to really answer this, but all weapons are useable for all archetypes in Ashes, not neccesarily optimally though. There doesn't seem to be universal abilities granted by what weapon your using, which is what I think ESO weapon skills are?

What are your thoughts about this new system that going to be implemented in WOW. Toggling between PVP and NON-PVP status in a major city and transferring to a PVP server or a PVE server on the spot. Giving more benefit to being in a PVP server. More rep/exp/gold than on a PVE dimension.
This way you (somewhat) fix the murderbox issue because you can decide if you're allowed to be ganked but also insentivice people to go on a PVP dimension for the extra rewards

@idle siren So this is an actual serious question because it matters for both Roleplay and for understanding the game better. BUT is slavery a thing in the world of Verra and I mean the Roman concept of slavery such as anyone and everyone can be a slave. I am curious about this because most games either shy away from it or do not make light of it in their lore such as Elder Scrolls with their downplay of the Dunmer and Argonian history.
And the reason to ask this. Is how do each of the races view the concept of lordship, slavery, and other hiearchy type issues. I know you are holding out on lore but it is an interesting topic that should be discussed some as slavery has been in human culture since man was able to settle down and farm.

There is guild vs guild content, but there are no established... factions... in the game as it stands. From the aocwiki.net : [1:05] How does the game flow if there are no factions?
Faction assignment restricts players. So AoC allows the community to draw their own path in terms of politics and player interaction. There will be things that nudge players in certain directions like the node system but for the most part it will be community driven and ever-changing - if your city gets destroyed you will go out and find a new home and build new alliances. In a faction based game there is no change, it loses meaning.

Guilds can take over nodes, sure. And they'll have a lot of things they can be in charge of internally. The different nodes will have different ways of obtaining ownership, though. http://aocwiki.net/Nodes#Node_Types

So i was telling my friends about how this game will not be pay to win like the current mmo we've been playing for the past 8 years [ perfect world , expensive as hell to be competitive ] and he brought up a good point. We dont know much but steven has said several times that you won't be able to win fights with gear alone. He talks about in his Q&A with lazypeon. He says that he wants to find a balance between gear and skill where both will play a role in combat. He wants there to be a potential for skilled players to compete with epicly geared players.

The obvious solution that took developers like Blizzard over ten years to (barely) figure out is to just drop stats from pvp encounters altogether. Gear and level should have ZERO bearing on PVP whatsoever. Only in PVE should these factors play any part in. This is especially important in world PVP. If you (as a developer) want to encourage world PVP, you don't give players a switch that they can flip to turn PVP on or off, nor do you allow better-geared players to grief others, no. You simply scale anyone involved in the pvp encounter to the lowest level player and double/triple health pools so that he/she may have a fighting chance and the fight lasts long enough for players to strategize. THIS is how you have "organic" PVP encounters. You could scale down players or you could have a buff/debuff automatically cast on players that removes all stats when another player engages another. I feel the former would be best.

What happens if one node declares war on another and successfully conquers it? Are they still seperate nodes? What would the changes be to the node?

by fighting each other, they can destroy/break down a node, so if it's level 4, it can be reduced to like 2? then the winners can decide if they want to rebuild THAT destroyed node, or not :p @crystal beacon they are separate still

If a level 4 node is reducedd to level 3, a level 3 node that was next to it might rise to level 4 instead, there is a zone of influence, exerted by the highest level node in an area, for instance if an area switches from having an economic metropolis to having a scientific metropolis as it's primary node through the course of wars, it could have sort of dramatic effects - As far as a particular node deleveling, player housing goes down a step (if the node deleveled one step), the largest player housing becomes a step smaller, the smallest teir of player housing stops existing, booting those players from their homes entirely.

You know when you go to the Forums for the first time and you have 2 options: You can pick "other" and write a name. Or you can pick your account and enter your password. Well i tried putting my pasword there but it didn't work so i pressed "other" and wrote a name and it worked. I closed the tab and tried to now go see if it it would work with my account now. . I'm from India (south Asian country) and would love to play Ashes of Creation when it launches, but there's something that bugs me. The business model they have chosen is monthly subscription based and we have heard from them that monthly charges would be like 15$ which if converted into Indian currency is 971 Indian Rupee which for us is quite expensive, here we can buy AAA games for that price. So I'm concerned if they will balance the prices as per region or not.

If you want to them to consider regional pricing then post several examples of successful subscription games that give regional pricing and take into account the economic disparity between countries to charge less. Give a pass on the people that will use VPNs and other shady ways to mask IP location to save a few bucks, and I am sure they will get right on that.

In addition, as my friend here @stable plover mentioned, corruption affects players chance to drop their items, that includes both inventory and wearable gear. So to answer your question, if the gear switching mechanic mid combat will be intredouced, it will not affect dropped gear, as the players drop from their inve tory aswell.

The combat shown at PAX was a demo version that was made for PAX. The game itself will undergo many iterations based on the player base feedback, and this especially true for combat. So any form of the game that you may see may always undergo changes or even be completly scrapped.
In particular, regarding the precision bar, here's a quote from Steven:
"It was never our intension to present the bar as a final product, it will undergo many iterations based on feedback from the community".

You're asking if we'll constantly need to update our gear as we go on?
(gear swap, the machanic that allows you to switch betwen different sets of gears mid combat is yet to be confirmed or denied)
That's only natural to what your character playstyle is,
Intrepid take on it is clear:
"There’s a wide range of applicable stats based on what the master crafter has set those dials to when crafting that item. Set bonuses are different, passives are different. When you reach top tier crafting, you’re going to have a diverse realm of items and gears that relate to how you’ve built your character."
So you'll be carrying the gear that fits your character best.

If by "gathering" you mean that there will be specific gear with set bonuses for gathering and for fighting,
it seems intrepid aproaches a hybrid version, as even the PvP and PvE bonuses are not differentiated:

@cyan cosmos Hi, we don't know for sure. It's unlikely though, because we know that the majority of items you have will be crafted, not dropped. Also, the largest raids are 40 man, and that would be a lot of non-crafting loot! It's more likely that you'll get unique crafting mats from the dungeons.

Answered in DM: the game is pre-alpha and by no means the current footage will represent anything close tot he final product. It will get extremly polished and will look smooth and nice on release.

There will be AI guards. The amount of guards is dependent on how much the player sending the caravan paid. However since it creates a pvp zone around it players can choose to defend it or attack it. But without any players pvp:ing around the caravan itll only be AI driving it afaik

If people still don't like it they might iterrate on it again or remove it if that is what will be needed, but as they have said (can't quote them) they want us to follow along in their progress and journey through this game, so most of the things you see system wise, mechanicly, combat wise etc, will be improved / iterrated on to get better and nicer with maybe more graphics etc, we saw an early version, but DEFINITELY! come with feedback! that is the reason they show it ❤ and i love that they keep us in the loop!

@silver nebula to gain access to alpha 0 you need an alpha 0 key. These keys are given out each week to either people who are signed up on the website and win the with random chance. Or, by being an outstanding / helping member of the community. In addition, there are always contests and such that give you the chance to win one. There are 11 days left until Alpha 0. So the chances youll get into this test phase are small, its not impossible. Not to mention that Intrepid will have a longer testig phase during January aswell. Some team members were under mandatory evacuation orders from their homes, so we are hoping that our brave fire fighters here in San Diego, are able to contain the fires. Have you been to the main ashes website yet? ashesofcreation.com and then after reading that go onto the AoC wiki for some further info http://aocwiki.net The game plans to "make mmos great again" with a lot of focus on players interacting with each other to spark conflict and change. Everything players do will bring change to the world and every decision you make will have its own consequences/rewards. Main thing of course is that this is not going to have any pay 2 win tactics. There is a fairly unique node system where players can build up their own towns /cities by contributing to that node (e.g fishing exp, killing monsters, doing quests). Once nodes develop it will be up to the citizens of the node to advance it to the next levels and protect it if there are any big threats that may cause the node to de-level. There will be much more to this game that I haven't mentioned but definitely check out the website and listen to the old twitch streams for a general overview. @safe quartz welcome to the community 😀

no so much spam abilities, there's currently some form of timing system in the game where pressing keys at the correct time allows you to combo abilities

@static goblet @static goblet Just to clarify. The combo system is currently only for your "auto attack" ability. Getting the timing right will add effects to your "auto attack" throughout the combo. Your other abilities are situational and cooldown based. It doesn't seem that there are timing based combos between mulitple abilities.This is still being developed and subject to change/modification. EDIT: word

But there's this in the shop description "you will also be entitled to purchase future monthly cosmetics as add-ons for the Expeditionary Level Pre-Order Pack and below." Alpha 0 keys only give access to alpha 0 as the name suggests. If you want access to alpha 1 and testing periods further down the road you gotta buy access to those @delicate bone

The KS and SS backer packages came with weighted value in other areas. These new packages come with value in other areas such as Embers, game time.

The benefit of these packages exceeds that simple dynamic
Note the weighted value of Alpha 0 key eateries per package.
KS and SS backers receive 15 entries. Intrepid pack is 10 entries. This is 1 additional perk
The cosmetics posted in the packages are going to change on a scheduled basis
For example let's say it is May 2020 today. If you bought the pack, you'd get Mays cosmetics
In June 2020 the cosmetics would change and you would get those instead of Mays
Now for clarity
No, if you buy in May, you will not receive June's automatically.
KS, SS backers will have the option to purchase these cosmetics individually. They will have an options to buy Ember seperatley.
If you are neither, and do not purchase a package, these cosmetics will not be available to purchase individually
This allocates an exclusive status to cosmetic ownership of the skin
There will be an official press release from Intrepid today to specifically state all aspects of these new packages, embers, how it relates to KS and SS backers, and I believe will reinclude Stevens statement of being able to exchange PAX packages towards one of these awesome new ones.
I hope that provides clarity for now. The press release should answer any additional questions ♡
