Let's say I join the game right after release, I'll supposedly be growing and evolving with that server. If someone wants to join in like idk 2 years after release,
- If he wants to join the server I'm in how would he progress?
- Will he be able to choose the same node I'm in?
- How will node "spawning" (I guess) work?
- What happens if a node is waay to OP?
- Will there be servers being created periodically to solve the problem in Q1, but then he wouldn't be able to play with me if I started early on?
- Will a new player be able to join in a server which is way to advanced?
- How big can the map be for that much players wanting to own terrain?
- How many players can a server have :P?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just really looking forward to this game. 😅

If a person buys into Alfa-2, does that also mean they can do the subsquent releases, or do you need to buy into each release? Also, if you win an Alfa-1 key does that entitle you to subsequent releases or would you have to buy into them seperately? Lastly, when would subscription fees kick in? At the regular release or before that? I'm not opposed to paying for a quality product, I'm just planning/budgeting ahead of time. Thanks!

- "Housing and Land" what are the terms of housing and land being recycled to be available to the public to be grabbed again. Most common knowledge is city siege and being deleveled and or node wiped.
However what about a strong long lasting node. A player got lucky to get prime land or housing but ends up going inactive for months for "reasons". Will his land or house be forfeited for auction after so long of inactivity, taxes not paid, subscription not paid? Be bad for someone to buy land and quit and it not being avaliable till a siege.

@neon schooner There is of course the exception of nodes specifcally correlleted to Castles. So you will have your normal citizen ship for a regular node (which you can apply to be the leader of through the various method provided by the specfic type of node). Then there is also the five Castles in the world that each have (if not mistaken) 3 sub nodes attached to them. So if you were a GM and a leader of a specifc node you could have citizienship of two areas. But that's nitpicking details.

Are we allowed to ask the developers questions in this channel? I know they're really busy, but I'd love to know what it's been like for them working in Unreal Engine 4 and how it would have compared to developing their own engine for this kind of game. I've made some pretty terrible games in Unity so that kind of thing I think is really interesting to me. Or, have they already talked about this at all?
It's a cool choice they opted for UE4 -- I know a lot of other recent MMOs are built with UE3 like Bless.

@tropic karma They have been touching on it a couple of times already in streams, I am not sure where, can't look it up atm. To summarize, they said U4 is pretty nice and to work with, because the front end of it is quite developed and it provides quite a beautiful visuality, like you can see in the environment and at the same time they can change the back end of the coding to suit a massive world that Ashes will have.

There will be 3 types of combat systems you can chose from, Tab target, Action/battle oriented and a hybrid version of the 2 if I'm not mistaken.

That's awesome! I was worried because I enjoy how I can target mobs and click my spells in my action bar like in WoW but in ESO you can't target enemies and can only use keybindings or numbers 1-5 (didn't like it) was worried AoC would have a similar setup, I'm very relieved!

A: English thus far has been confirmed. Localization and translations really depend on the demand for our game in those regional markets. I can say that it is an expensive process, but one that we are wanting to do if the demand is there. The best thing you can do to see this happen, is to help build our community in those markets.

k ive watched ALOT of videos, i have been pushing for guild memebers from several other games to all come together when this releases. WoW, Gw2,Eq2, BDO, RidersofIcuras ect.. we posted a forum on our guild page discusing the game and several guild meme-bers have the same basic concerns and agree mutually that they would like to see in the game.
one of the concerns is Guild structures UI ect... Will there be a guild ranking structure, friendly guild window (simular to eq2 maybe a few more features). Some Features Many want to see in the game is a Guild Hall for Trophies decorating ect..and if we build in the frontier is it going to be restricted zone building like in Fail archeage or will it be more like the Landmark Land Claiming system that everyone seemed to like more.

- There will be a Guild Alliance/Enemy system so an UI will be there for that
- There are Guild Halls, they can probably be customized to some extent (There will also be Fortresses, that Guilds can capture in the world, or others can try and take from you)
- There are also Castles that Guilds can try and take (that also gives Guilds 3 Sub-Nodes of the Castle for them to control)
- As of now, it seems like Guild Halls can only be built in Cities (with the exception of Fortresses that are out in the world)
(Nr. 4 is not confirmed directly, it's my own assumption based on dev's saying "Guildhalls will unlock certain actions a guild can perform within a city and node like the Shareholder system")

im hoping they do a good job with the Guild system , take their time and do it right, to us are a core part of any community especially with no defined territorial factions system, the way its sounds is its all player AI generated so there has to be some sort of static system for the community to create stability.

However, you will only have a single Skill Tab, which means you can only use so and so many skills at a time (think it was 10)

But I'd imagine since its a divine node, likely it'd be quests related to giving back to the religion and community. So likely a separate scale that is based on the individuals status. I'd recommend bringing this up in the Ashes Discussion channel though, as some others might have ideas on what it could be.

From the information we were given yes, but again there is very little info about the mechanics for this at this time
An example given is the more a player prays at their nodes temple the higher they would be and the more benefits they would recieve than someone who does not pray as often or at all.

The dance, the furniture set, and the Wand of many things from Summer will be credited to all KS backers. Anything else that you want is ala carte as mentioned above. For the last two freehold questions - I don't think we have that info on freehold placement rules, and unknown about mobs damageing freeholds - I would expect them to be safe from normal mobs, but they might have trouble with event mobs? Freeholds have hireable guards that the devs mentioned will help protect them during node seiges. Perhaps freehold guards would also help with monster events?

Also, what if the top five guilds do "own" a node, there are another 4-5 nodes you can go to. Also those guilds wont be really focused on the "node" in the ZOI as much as their focus will be on the 5 or so castles in the game.
@half spindle Yes castles will be limited, currently there are only thinking of having 5 castles in the game. The size of hte map will be substantial, distance will matter seeing as they're pretty adament about the carriage system, and the fact that there is no "fast travel".

There is currently no word regarding an item (like black stones) for upgrading ones gear/weapons/ect.. What we do know is that crafting/upgrading will be recipe based, with little RNG. That you can deconstruct epic gear to learn how to make it yourself, and that there may be some RNG when upgrading/over enchanting items. (Ex given: Comes with a risk of enchanting lets sa a +10 sword there may be some RNG regarding that) but whether that's a straight success/failur or if that includes downgrading they have not stated yet.

Well it is all there in the kickstarter Glass, although not very well presented or explained well in the Glass. The FAQs state alpha-1/2 start 2018. Glass state alpha0 is separate from Alpha-1. They state Key draws are for alpha0 (the weekend alpha) and that its will take place in 2017. So they do state alpha 0, 1 and 2 are separate enterties, with different timelines. And that alpha zero entry is via key draws.

@tame hill To upgrade a kickstarter package you must have a kickstarter package to upgrade, go to the store on the website, click access kickstarter upgrades, you pay the difference in the non-early bird price of your kickstarter package and the upgraded package you select - You pay the money immediately if that's what you mean by 'is it just a pledge'.

Lol, yeah. I understand you want it. But I'm telling you that you should not count on it. I've done many alphas/betas, and nothing from Intrepid leads me to believe they'll allow any streaming whatsover. The alpha rules are so strict by themselves.
As with many others, my buddy and I are both Alpha 0, and the rules say we can't even discuss Alpha 0 with Each Other.
