@crystal beacon you won't be disadvantaged as a pirate/bandit since the area around the caravan is open PVP (i.e. no penalty), as well as other "battleground" areas that allow for open PVP. If you are just running around killing random innocent players thats not being a bandit/pirate that's just being a griefer which they are trying to prevent.

Howdy. I'm curious about the instanced PvP system. Will everyone be auto scaled so it's based of skill - kinda like Guild Wars 2, or will it be kinda like WoW - better gear you have from grinding, the stronger you are in PvP. As I was never a fan of having to grind PvE to get gear for PvP or having to fight against fully geared players in instance PvP with bad gear. Also, if everything isn't auto scaled, will there be rewards in PvP (i.e. honor points) that I can buy PvP armor with, assuming PvP armor is a thing?
Also, will I need to unlock all traits or skills or whatever is in the game before I play instance PvP so I will not be hindered?
For example, will I be able to fight against the highest level players as a lower level? Will skill be the only factor when it comes to instance PvP?
As there is a focus on having open-world PvP be a thing, I assume that nothing will be autoscaled and the power and abilities of your character is determined by how high level you are and how good your gear is in Open-World PvP. This is why I'm only inquiring about Instance PvP, like Arenas or whatever.

They said that in-case of major production delay (which should not happen) their core game will be released on schedule no matter what, and all of the extra features such as the backer benefits will be added along the way. @warm jackal There wont be open world scaling of anytype in the open world. Some classes specific arenas will have predetirmined conditions, but thats only when the competition wants to compare betwen class preformance.
The skill to gear ratio is 50 50, they were very bold about it, a player cant just go rampaging on lower levels, you will need to outplay your opponents too. However, this is an MMO and your build and gear preperation has a meaning too, so a low level player would have to really outplay the higher level. Again 50 50 mix.

Yes I am a horse freak and I can understand if most people don't care but I do. I know it's not a horse game but in almost every MMO all the horse animations always looked wrong. Pretty much the answer is YES, there will be bunch of offline activities.

What I expect from Intrepid to say is very simple. If I can get a way to play my time smart in order to get the maximum output for it. Like for example, doing on a first try a very tricky dungeon, and get a very big bonus for being the first. Or by not dying at all.
I mean this would give me a chance. If I am good enough, I can even beat the guys who invest more time.

So you'll be able to purchase these positions, once every election cycle.
They also can be sold. It has been stated that you cannot "withdraw" tax money, so this is kind of an warparound tell that these positions purchases wont go towards taxation.

@serene sparrow Dungeons that fall under the node ZOI will gain exp both to the players and the node itself, yes.
Your worry isnt really a worry tho, each node will have different events based on its location and advancement.
While even if we assume that some nodes will not have dungeons (again, we dont know in detail the development process of a node) it will have activities that compencate for the lack of another.
In a way this makes each node unique in its activity and will draw players that enjoy doing these activities.
The best example I can give is the bounty hunting process in a millitaristic node,
Only the millitaristic node will offer the BH questline, so in a way, this is very much an PvP activity,
while the dungeon you described is a PvE activity. so again, the development speed of a node will be determined by the amount of players preforming actions within this node, while these actions may differ from one node to another, each of them will have different activities to compencate for the ones that are missing.

@silk crown Im not sure I understood the question, but if its regarding the "style" of the node, a.k.a architecture, then race will have an affect on it.
the way the system works is, whenever the node develops (levels up, or a strucutre is raised) there is a contribution marker based on race, whoever has the most contribution at THAT time (could be understood from the sentencee "...the predominant racial marker WAS...").

Yes every skin or cosmetic from KS is account bound (so you don't need to care on which char you use it), but what wasn't answered is if you can have one skin on multiple chars simultaneously or you need to first remove it from char 1 and then place it on another char (this is how cosmetics works in PoE).

@cedar temple About the iframes for bosses....in a monster token video a rogue is seen using left and right blurred dash iframes during the monster's surviving 2 or 3 back to back attacks with him as the focus and no damage being registered.
It looks like maybe a stamina based system not spammable but pooled stamina would allow for atleast 3 nearly back to back. However that was probably predator class which we have seen doing forward rolls and this was roughly 3 to 5x that distance in a third the time. Could be an augment of that forward roll or could be a different ability entirely. However with that ability the forward roll seems nearly useless unless that ability is lateral and the roll is back and forth.

@supple nova rejected referral earnings is probably when you reject it on your end or perhaps when a referral's funding ceases or has an issue...so it shows you why you didn't that extra $2.25 a month into your AoC account.

You change your bank account, they tried to send you money, it was rejected b/c it no longer exists....what is hard to understand about that and why the hostility. The answer is correct. They may use that "rejected earnings" for more things than your account being unreachable as I mentioned above, but it is what you see what you get. Keep Calm and Referral On brah.

Later you will be able to pick a secondary class, they have said they are unsure if you will be able to change your secondary, but definitely not the main class. In addition, each race will have a unique feel for each class. So in theory 500+ unique classes/play styles. But much remains to be seen on how unique those classes will be.

@inland crater If you have dual core you should be fine. Most games are not optimized for any more than that. They are using UT4 engine as a platform and not something new so wouldn't run out and buy some 8 core beast expecting more than 2 cores or 4 to be utilized.

@lone basin @hollow walrus @dreamy light All of you are wrong. BH is a quest aviable to you from a millitaristic node. The higher your rank in this quest the better you can track corrupted player. When this quest is active you get rewards for killing these players and you are able to track them. But you dont have to toggle or anything to attack corrupted players. And no you dont gain ANy penalty when you kill a corrupted player. Infact, you always will be able to do so. The BH quest comes in to focus your path down the killing route by giving you an abillity to track them and rewards you for completing the quest. Im not home so I cant source atm, but I will personally msg all 3 of you with the proper information givven to us during the streams.

This may be a long question but bare with me. One of the make it or break it things in a game for me is the uniqueness of character design and class when it comes to making my own character. When it comes to looks, I don't want to look like the very next mage 5 meters from me. Or let me put it like this, when I make a mage, I don't want to look like the next three mages out of 5 or 10. If out of 100 or even 1000 that would make a bold statement that you value uniqueness and have hundreds of different outfits. Part two to my question is class specing and builds. In a lot of games they give you a mage class, and within that class they let you spec in one of three catagories: Fire, water, or Arcane; wow for example. Will you give the mage more than three specs to choose from to become a master in, for example, fire, water, wind, lighting, earth, shadow, arcane, ice, light, and same goes for other class. I get so tired of having the same generic three specs and they're 25 frost mages, 20 fire and 16 arcane, I want diversity not just with how I look but also with how I decide to build my character and which tree path (spec) I decide to go down. And When you do give us the categories to choose from will you let us become masters in that spec/field , will you let us have many different options that we can branch off into.
AND......So that if you give us 5 or however many choices to choose from within a mage class, If i pick a fire mage and there is another fire mage beside me we aren't the exact same , meaning yes you gave us different spec (fire, ice, shadow etc.) but did you give us different paths or diversity within that spec. So if they're are 20 fire mages we aren't all the same because some of us decided to branch off into fire throwing, while others decided to branch off into a fist fire master mage, and others decided to become a fire mage that focuses mainly on fire minions or fire incasements of their enemy. Please intrepid studio put some uniqueness and in-depth thought into the direction you decide to go with character design/class because this is also a hit or miss when it comes to mmorpgs.

@wet saffron Well first off, totally get where you're coming from. The class system intrepid has planned currently seems like it might help in combating your issue. You have you main class but you'll also be able to choose a secondary class to add flavoring to your main class. The example Steven gave was if you chose to play Tank/Mage (Tank Main, Mage Secondary). The tank class has a charge skill in which you run at the enemy and attack. Say that mage has a teleport skill, with which you can augment the charge skill. This means instead of running at the enemy you would teleport to it and attack. So there are a lot of class possibilities to choose from, also you wont be locked to specific weapon types. Sure there will be the META goto classes and builds, but there is soooo much room for uniqueness within this game. hooope this helped π€ and if not, my first time answering such a huge question >.> (Needletail back me up, use your brainy parts please)

@wet saffron You didn't actually ask a question in your first novella there, you just told everyone what you wanted. But assuming you meant to ask "will characters be unique?", the answer is yes. They've said the character creation will be similar to that of BDO, and the only reason two witch/wizards would look the same in that game is because they limit cosmetics, whereas Intrepid as said there will be many to choose from...so I wouldn't worry about that.
As far as the mage goes, it will all depend on what you and other mages choose as their secondary classs and what weapon you end up picking. I mean, a rogue could in theory fight with a staff if they wanted. So I think it's safe to say you will have plenty of options to make your class unique in every way. More than likely there will end up being a FOTM build that many people will end up using, but that doesn't mean it's limited to the "OP" builds. They haven't said what the skills will be, and I think it's pretty unlikely they'd give out that info just to answer your question, but I think it's safe to say they are aware of players' desire to have unique classes and skills as they've reassured the community on several occasions that this will be the case.
@icy terrace Considering how much thought they've put into every aspect of the game, and the fact that it'd be dumb not to, I think it's safe to say they don't plan to have shitty horse animations. And as a side note I think LOTRO's warhorse animations are pretty solid, and they came out years ago.
@river vault I don't actually know the answer to your question, but you are aware that people don't like you leeching off their kills because....you're leeching? Getting XP by healing/buffing them instead of killing their mobs would literally be doing the exact same thing.

@eager rock I think they've mentioned that you will be able to change your subclass, so I asume Cleric/mage would make you deal more dps, also they've already mentioned that you can wear any equipment with all classes, just not be as proficient with it. I dare say the conclusion is, yes you will be able to do solo stuff, just maybe tad slower than Mage/Mage. Also locking you into position where you wouldn't be self-suficient Cleric/X, Tank/X and actually needed someone to do everything for you and you just tagged behind would be terrible Idea.

As a pure cleric I wanted to make sure it doesn't end in that exact situation where up need someone to do the work for you :) I've played some games where need to kill a pack of bears where I would be 2 levels above struggling to survive and a dps or tank 2 levels below blow through it like nothing :)

It might take longer since we won't have too many dps skills I assume but you could always double augment the dps with the dps to make it stronger or augment it with heals so you can keep yourself alive while killing enemies

@cedar temple They have stated the the Kickstarter Exclusive items will not be available outside of the campaign and those who backed it. The june backer exclusives are different than the ones in kickstarter. They will not be available later in the shop. "Receive the Phoenix's aura - Have your characters emblazoned with the aura of the phoenix effect! " This does not say kickstarter exclusive, so it may be available as is in the future. However, items such as the Angel/demonic skin will not be available again. They will not be releasing them as recolors, since they have already stated that you can customize the skins and change their colors.

Its because KS didn't allow people with paypal to get in on the backer exclusives, which is what a good majority of potential backers can only use to pay. So while they did keep their promise to keep the majority of the skins as KS exclusives and are offering seperate ones instead. It is not fair to those players that wanted to back for a lifetime sub but couldn't due to KS limitations on what payments they take to be robbed the opportunity so this is the most fair situation for both current and potential backers.

That being said about 2950 backers got the lifetime sub for atleast 50 but in more cases 100-200 dollars less than current backers can buy it. Personally I hate when people get the elitest mentality that "Oh well I backed earlier for a specific reward so no one else should get it." I plan on buying the 550 package for the lifetime sub, but if they decide to offer it at the same price or hell even less or more to other players I won't bitch. That just means there are more players that are invested in playing the game.

@potent dust A guild doesnt destroy nodes, siges do. and they dont destroy them, they delevel the node. Thus opening in a stage where poeple can "raid" other peoples freeholds and destroy them. in addition if a freehold ever finds itself outside of its home node ZOI it gets destroyed aswell.
Once the freehold is destroyed it gets packed for you to later use, its, and I quote, "disapears"
so the short anwswer is "No" there will be no such ruins for freeholds.

Upgrading is making your 500 KS pledge into Summer 1050 Pledge by paying "just" another 550 instead of full 1050, that's upgrading. Addon is when you have everything you wanted from your KS pledge but want for example "Summer exclusive - blue flame phoenix pet" and don't wanna pledge another 250 for it (first pack that has it), because it will be available as an addon in store for better price than whole pack (for example 20Eur- random number) @vocal ruin

With the way Microsoft are doing things and their lack of support for newer hardware it would be nice if developers developed their games for Linux systems.
Will you be developing Ashes of Creation for Linux? I can see Linux being the future of modern operating systems and its capabilities overshadow that of Windows 10. It already dominates the server market and I can see it soon hitting the PC market. My experience with gaming on Windows + Linux has shown an increase in performance on Linux - Especially Ubuntu systems such as Linux Mint. So I will personally answer.
I had 2 reasons to host the event now,
1st and most important reason, its never too early to join a community, you dont have to play ashes, the mere fact that you can talk with people about the game and discuss all the new details we will get is an amazing feeling. Not to mention, for example, RP communities can already start playing as we speak, because they need a backstory. I was hoping to bring people together, and give them someone to talk to while they wait, and maybe, just maybe, find friends for life.
2nd, this is the 1st out of more guild fairs I will host. Currently Im planning to host one before the 1st alpha test, and then one more (the big one) right before release.
I see this fair as an opportunity to learn and develop, to help the big one be more professional.

Is it possible to conquer multiple nodes like you are expanding your empire I'm just curious if a player can do that like conquering multiple nodes under one ruler

@smoky forum This is a pretty loaded question, because there are a lot of parts to it.
I'll break it down as much as I can, if you still have questions after, please proceed.
so to start things off, you cant "conquer" a node. you can siege it, and by that delevling it, and by that removing its zone of influnce, allowing your node to grow and potentially swallow the sieged node under your zone of influence, thus "conquering" it. But that would be the closest thing.
2nd, you can declare sieges if you have completed the proper preperations (quest etc.)
BUT, each node will have a cooldown after it was sieged based on its size (the larger the bigger the cooldown)
So technicly, I find it hard to believe you will be able to siege all at once, not to mention the man power it will take (the game is purposly designed against zerging).
Last part is the "one ruler". There will be a maximum of 5 metroplises (the larger your node can grow). so that means there is a limit on how much your node can expand its ZOI, so you wont be able to "rule the world" if thats your intentions. Moreover, the leadership passes diifferntly base on the node type.

Also, just to pinpoint my answer further, the storage that was given as an example was the KS storage, that will allow you to pass KS items from one character to another, I'd have to imagine same will be true for cosmetics bought trought shop, but that is speculation.

While a siege is active, you can join but you must not be a citizen or a registered ally or defender for the node.
While the same can be understood and applied for defending, you have to be either a citizen or a registered ally or defender for the node to sign up to defend.

@crystal beacon he can, he will instantly get swarmed by gaurds and other players. Even if he is a citizen of that node. There are no "safe zones" in AoC but atacking within the node would be most likley suicide. NPCs are killable. Just to elaborate on the "killing spree", uppon killing innocent non combatant players you gain corruption. This corruptions gives you a chance to drop gear and lowers your effectivness in battle. After a while you wont be able to kill anyone anymore. Because your combat effectiveness will be low. The way to lose corruption is to do. Thus risking dropping your gear uppon death

I personally find certain challenges to perpare for very exciting while grinding the same stuff over and over again is a huge turn off for an MMO for me. -

@heavy flume 1) yes there will be anouncements for first clears and its safe to assume they will have ranking too becauae they said that they are going to implement many rankings to promote exploration and competition.
In regards for question 4, the answer is so detailed I rather you just read the full explenation. But in short, there will be very little grinding in AoC, and they also touched the fact that they are against the term "lategame" because they want their game to be amazing from start to finish.

When a player takes up PvP and kills a non-combatant in a non PVP static zone they get corruption.
1). Do they automatically show up on a bounty list, or do they have to reach a particular level of corruption before showing up on a bounty list?
2). Do they show up on their first non-combatant kill?
3). When another player takes in a bounty and goes after the corrupted player, and makes a kill, are they free from being tagged with corruption and the corruption side effects?
4). Can multiple players form a Posse and jointly hunt a corrupted player in the same bounty?
5). Are we looking at a good sized bounty amount for corrupted player kills?
6). If corrupted, and killed under a bounty by a bounty hunter, does that reset corruption to a neutral?
7). Do bounty hunters gain any kind of Node faction for killing corrupted players in their bounty list?

- BH dont gain corruption when killing corrupted players, since they are considered combatant. and corrupted players wont gain corruption if they kill BH (so basiclly neither side gets it)

- "good sized" is a question of balance, even if we had an answer (which doesnt exist because its prealpha), it would most likley change during the alpha and beta tests. so this answer is none-existant, but its safe to assume they will make sure that if someone chasing a player for PKing they will make it worth his while.
- No, you do not reset your corruption with Bountyhunter interaction. You do however by dying, so essentialy if you die to a BH, you will lose some corruption, but you wont lose any extra because he was a BH, it will be same as if killed by normal player.

It is safe to assume that advanding in this questline will somehow forawrd your bh level and develop the node, but nothing has been mentioned for "factions" in AoC, as of yet atleast, so the answer is no. Also, because the leadership of a combatant node is chosen by combat, I dont see how taking this quest will forward you in any way.

"If another player attacks you, they become a combatant. If you fight back, your death penalties are mitigated. If you donβt fight back, the killer becomes corrupt."
So in other words, if he doesnt fight you back, he loses more exp, and you gain corruption.
if he does fight you back, the loser loses exp, none get corruption.

Will a citizen of a non-military Node (I.e. a citizen of an Economic Node) be able to obtain a BH Title?

In FF14, as a crafter, instead of just putting 2 items together and having your craft, you actually have crafting classes with skills like the combat classes and you gear these crafters up, they have stats and with the skills you have kind of a "minigame" where you increase the high quality chance and the progress, while both can fail, which is a system I really like, because it's more complex than the generic "you need item A + B, here's your item C.
Do you plan on having crafting classes with skills as well? -
Also, will crafting include things as being able to use different materials which results in different stats/appearance of the crafted item?

@stoic storm there were kickstarter cosmetic exclusives, along with June backing cosmetic exclusives such as racial skins, mount skins, a boat skin, particle effects, etc. They also said their cash shop is gonna be purely cosmetic so I would expect some cooler cosmetics when the game comes out too π
@heavy flume they do plan on having an in depth professions system with leveling it as if it were a class itself. Idk if it'll be skills but I would assume so.

@formal river In terms of information regarding ships we have received very little. But I do want to give you everything I know, but straight out confirmation on cabins in ships, no such information have been shared as of yet.
We know that there will be different sizes of ships:

- Is the best gear crafted, or dropped?
- how available is storage of crafting materials? For example, ESO storage of materials is infinite so long as you paid for it. OR is it like a normal storage item? how large is storage etc?
- Is there free access to all crafting classes, or do you have to buy in? or would there be an energy system similar to Black Desert Online, where you have limited energy and allocate your energy wisely?
- Is the market going to have free price range, or is it going to have a set market price? (this way prices dont get absurdly out of hand due to inflation because of an event, endgame, etc)
- Passive income?
- Will trade systems like Black Desert Online be implimented? (trade caravans, regional price fluctuation, etc.)
- How will the cosmetics system work? Will we have outfit slots, transmog, or a mixture?

@west heath pretty sure an energy/labor system for crafting would put a really unnecessary limit on players. BDO and Archage did this to be able to monetize on potions that circumvent the limit. and this is purely p2w which Intrepid has taken a hard stand against.

@west heath as an answer to 6. The Caravan system will be essential in getting demanded materials from one node to another, where there is high demand, the prices will be high. but caravans are also active pvp zones, so safe trading like in BDO will not be in AoC.

- In terms of carrying goods it will be limited and will force you to use the carav system of you want to transfer large sum of materials. Now in terms of how it will work for your character, youll have an inventory for materials and an inventory for everything else. As for storage youll have to own a house in order to store your goods there.
- There will be no energy/fatigue system. However developing them will take time, in addition you cant master all 3 class trees of artisian (gathering/proccessing/crafting). Youll have point to allocate, very much like the skills build, it will go down to choice, you can either be jack of all trades or focus and master a specific branch within that class tree.
- No such information has been recieved as of yet. They will dwellve into it more deeper as development process will go on.
- Yes. You can hire NPCs and players to do various tasks for you. You can rent housing and you can play the stock market (a feature that has been unlocked via KS).
- The flagship of the trade in AoC, for more information on caravans please refer to the pictures Ive added.
- Mixture. You have slots and you have transmog.

@prime vine They will allow different skills associated with shields. Blocking and parry are a mechanic in the game but wont be tied to wielding a shield. Hope that helped
