Im curious about the node design. If each node can look different depending on what race is most prevalent in its evolution and the node can develop into one of 4 types, does this mean each node has at least 16 possible designs (4 node types x 4 major races) for each stage? Not sure how many nodes exist, but i know it is more than 5, so thats 80 different designs for each stage. Is that 480 different designs for all stages for 5 nodes?

@shrewd marsh There is a durability system, but it doesn't break permanently. You bring it to a crafter who can make your weapon (gotta make sure they can craft your weapon, otherwise they can't) and they can repair it.
Since enhanced naval content is unlocked, does it mean possible seashore nodes like big ports (taking role in trading with another such ports by ships etc.)? Will it be possible for players to buy their own ships? Will the ships be split in types by purpose or will they be customizeable? Will it be possible for a ship captain to hire a crew of other players? Will there be a sailing-oriented profession branch (like navigation, carpentry, tackelage and such)?

When a node levels up
Who decides the location of the buildings that rise with advancement of that node?
If nodes structured honeycomb-like and player one advances one node and player two advances the neighbor node, will there be two separated nodes or they can agree on alliance with each other and merge?
If so, what happens to the village/town/city and buildings already exists in one or each of them?
Also, how quests will matter and effect on fate of the server?
How going one route will prevent other players go another?
If I get it right it is not individual driven lore but the common decision of players for example fight or flight the winter dragon.
If I want to fight and someone else decides to avoid it, which matters?
Does the dragon can be killed multiple times or once per season as an event?
As well, how looting mechanics will work?
Lets say a group slays the dragon, who gets the loot?
Will it be player bound with rng drop rate?
Crafting materials will be divided equally or related to damage done among players?
I'm sorry for being very specific but you probably understand we're eager for information since it's so exiting.
Sadly streams and podcasts questions are repetitive at this point.
I'm aware that probably those points aren't yet decided and under discussion or awaiting alpha/beta testing.
What I hope for is you to share those discussions and let us be part of those decisions as audience behind a glass watching the progress of a masterpiece being crafted.

How long will crafting a quality Item take? Will you be able to finish it in a few seconds like in wow or something, or will crafting something be like in eve where building a good thing could take days?
Good question! I hope there's a "game" to it (like Vanguard) so it takes a bit of doing to make each piece... rather than a loading bar and the same crap item every time.
@fringe blaze crafting will likely involve some sort of mini games (having buttons and options to turn and adjust to your liking), so there could be timers in between crafting steps, but that sounds like baking to me rather than making weapons (the latter part is speculation)

I unfortunately didn't know about Ashes of Creation till a bit late...So rip on saving money for a higher pledge. Will there be anymore earlybird chances to back (via another method) AoC aside from the current Kickstarter going on? I don't expect the same rewards, but a nice second shot would seem great!
What are the requirements to build a town when it's to low everybody has an own town, but when it's to high there are only such few that you don't really got a wide choice of the towns

Autorun sure does make things easier for people, but it gets rid of the immersive feel that an MMORPG needs. World of Warcraft had a massive world, and no autorun feature; I'm not sure if any other games are without autorun, but I certainly recommend not inputing it. Making people run from one place to another is just a part of the game, and it makes things more immersive.

Is there a thread with an in depth explanation on fishing mechanics? What I really want to know, is if it's going to be the usual stop and drop bait, wait and retrieve or if it's going to have reeling and real fishing strategy to catch fish.

You guys mentioned that each node will be pre-determined. I.e a node is destined to become economic, scientific etc. Will a player be able to know before investing time into a node which type it is? I don't want to be in an economic node for hours when I already know i want to contribute my time to a militaristic node.
@nocturne bay Yes! At the first stages, you'll see a small group of NPCs...merchants if economic, priests if divine, etc.

So I've just watch the Q&A that was done with TheLazyPeon and I was thinking about the nodes and how it was said that different servers will have different narratives and such, would it ever be possible for a server to become and empire so to speak? And if so would there then be possibilities for that "Empire" to send something like negotiators to another server to make alliances or even cross-server wars? To expand the empire for example?
@timid relic No, there won't be cross-server play as you describe. Not sure what exactly "empire" means, but it's possible to gather tons of power and, if you're really far reaching, multiple high-level nodes on a single server.

Another dial might be for sword length which affects reach but lowers attack speed, and as you level up in sword crafting you might unlock a new dial that lets you make the core of the sword from a light, soft material (which would make the weapon hold less of an edge normally) but make the edges of a harder, heavier material so that the sword does more damage while still being lighter increasing speed.? Hold the torches and pitchforks, anyone who was grabbing them, I want to mention, I think adding this as an option would promote more modestly proportioned female characters, since, every MMO I've played which does not have this as an option, if you were to add a slider to these games, the default model would, most of the time, fall in the top 75%, at least, and often the top 90. (The mage from your mage video would be at about 90, for example)

As an example, I can see why an apple would have decay in my inventory, but not why an iron ore would slowly disappear within it.
@pliant lotus Most likely it will be tied with usage / monsters killed with that specific weapon. Armor will decay with the number of damage you took is my guess.

You menntioned that in metropolis there will be certain kind of leaders, chosen in different ways. I have played a similar kind of mmo and in the later stages the lead role of the city was kind of taken over by a big guild that had a full control over it. And even if the leader would step down it would all already be arranged for the next person to overtake. How will you prevent people from doing such thing. Another question I have is, since the game is heavily reliant on community, how will you ensure that community wont ruin the game with certain actions or abusing certain mechanics. For example you said that when it comes to metropolis siege, for a while that metropolis will be unable to be sieged again. What if two nodes make an agreement to siege eachother just for the purpose of that and make kind of unofficial alliance?.

@marble mountain dont have an answer for everything but for the alliance siege for cooldown they say its so expansive and it take a lot of effort to initiate a siege that this wont happen.
And, for the guild and leaders, i think they said something about a democratic votes, so yeah if your guild is that big they would maybe deserve it, and would initate some intrigues maybe? But i think they should have an answer for this 😒

@devout remnant looking fit or fat is a cosmetic option when you create your charater(still have little detail on that). Carry weight will affect your momement speed plus wearing plate armour compared to a rogue in leather. Hope that helps

@fast grotto regarding freeholds, I know that the freehold won't need to be rebuilt if it's destroyed via sieges and that there's a template saved "to a player" so to speak so they can rebuild elsewhere, but if I person doesn't like the direction their node is going with regards to progression or leadership can they uproot their freehold and reestablish it in another lvl nodes zoi?
I mean honestly it would kind of suck if you put in all the work into a freehold and it's node is poorly managed and you're getting taxed into oblivion and you're just stuck waiting to have the node sacked and your freehold destroyed in order to move it

@tribal grotto The nodes themselves seem to revolve around PVE content. For example the dragon that is unleashed when a certain node progresses, they have stated that the dragon will be a world boss or raid that will take a large server effort to overcome. Almost all node advancement appears to be PVE centric (conversely, all node destruction appears to be PVP centric)

@tribal grotto They addressed that in one of the Q&A sessions. They are focusing on mechanics to take down the boss, not hp sponges. They are aware that system doesn't work (i.e. GW2 if you get enough people you can defeat it). They indicated that more people will not help (may make it harder because coordinating more people on mechanics)

It was stated in a previous stream that a player loses "power" if attacking the same player over and over. If I place a Freehold at one node and decide to go to a differebt node for exploration and end up gathering there how is this handled? How often do I have to return to my Freehold or home? Bag space limit based on weight what of gathering professions how accessable are the off load places to deliver the goods to? Will this hamper exploration? If I am gathering and i run into an event my bags are almost full do i have to dump them if i want loot? any news on endgame? Me along with a large chunk of the player base of other games are pretty tired of being forced to log on at a set time to raid in order to participate in the end game. Edit: Just to clarify, by "end game" I mean paths to obtain the best gear in the game. Such as difficult world bosses that don't need a schedualed raid or the like.

a guild cant "own" a node, if the question is, weather you can becomee a citizen if all your guildies are citizens in diffrent node, then yes, ofcourse.

@glacial nimbus they have outspoken against dps meters on stream. They didn't neccesarily hate it in other games, but they want to take out the 'you need to be this pro to join us and we measure it by this one measurement' (not an actual quote from them). As a top performer on dps meters for games I played, I think this makes sense seeing as the emphasis on alot of util cannot be measured in dps.
@queen garnet Also most modern Actiom Combat systems or also thix mixture with tab targeting, dosnt need a DPS meter, its not all about DPS, i think your utility skills, your smart usage of your Class and avoiding dmg and good movement will matter, and not who has the most DPS and skilled as PURE DPS and just hits the buttons 1-10.

The way I see dps meters is the first main requirement when it comes to being in the top end guilds yes there are always people who do good dps however can't do utility or movement. For example not being able to see the amount of healing output or the interrupts in a fight to see who isn't doing there job in a raid.
@valid sierra Not the best channel to discuss maybe we should move when talking more about it. I think in top tier guilds a one person DPS will not really matter, the movement as A team in HUGE GvG and Sieges will matter, the right zerging technique and group composition etc. In most modern MMO like ESO, BDO and all that thing its not really that important if u do 10'000 or 12'000 DPS or something, since WoW i havent played a mmo, also gw2 and stuff that the DPS is that important for the people.Also for small dungeons it maybe make a bigger diffrence, and maybe in small battleground but not in Huge GVG, and all the stuff AoC offers
@lament wing all KS achieved goals will be implemented. They will not allow the KS goals reached hinder the release date. They feel as though they will be able to achieve those goals by launch, but if not they will be released after launch.
@eager badge I'm correcting myself. As I am in the US, I see the currency as USD, you will know by the currency symbol next to the objective KS goal, if it is a $ then most likely USD, if a £ etc..

How will the support/healer role will be made interesting? I am often interested in playing such but the fact that I spend more time looking at the UI to check my teams health bars to heal the right person than anything else has made the role quite dull.

To ellaborate will we see the same 5 cities on nodes pop up to look and be the same (even if one is destoryed will it be recreated to look the same as the last one that was destoryed) or have the same buildings copy pasted everywhere, same goes with things like scenery and props, although I know your game is pre-alpha I did notice in one of the Q&As you said the main first city you've been working on has got most of it's core complete, although seeing the videos there looked to be A LOT of the same plants, every building symetrical etc.

@dark maple Intrepid mentioned about what all matters the design of the Node: The Race will have an Impact so when the most people that worked on the node are orcs it will have a orc design, also you have science nodes, war nodes etc, there all also different. Also they spoken about the leader of A node who can build House structure, like saying we are going to build that now, so i think there will be different looks. If its really like, not symetrical and random i thinks thats not going to happy but a statement about that would be nice 😄

I think the general idea is that each class will have different utilities. Although does that mean a character would have access to their secondary classes' respective utility? I did not see a suggesstion section in this discord channel so forgive me for posting it up here, but i had an idea as far as weapons go in this game. Basically I have yet to see a game where a player can actually create a "Custom" weapon especially in the mmo world. Given the very nature of this game, and how heavy a focus you guys want to make crafting in this game (ty btw for that) I think this is a very natural progression for it. How it could work would be a blacksmith or weaponsmith could have a selection of weapon looks to choose from, and according to his crafting lvl, could be able to imbue that said weapon with a certain number of abilities/skills. Then also hve access ot a special dye system where they can change the color of said weapon. And of course be able to give it a cool name. A good skill for a Master craftsman would be somethign like giving a weapon the ability to transform into a different weapon at the users command. For example say u have a sword and give it the ability to also transform into a bow or warhammer and have it's ability set change according to what the craftsmen set for it. It should def take a ton of mats for this, but it def gives this particualr type of craftsmen a high demand in your game. This idea would def furthr make your MMO the best ever seen and experienced to this day.

In what ways will you maintain the economy of Ashes? How will you avoid the inflation caused by the creation of in-game currency by players just playing (killing mobs etc)? How will you maintain demand for equipment and materials, if, for example, gear lasts forever? The question of economy is very complex and I hope you treat it as such as you design it further.

The other stuff is more specific and I don't think we have much on those elements. The map should be large enough that you won't be wading through crowds everywhere you go.

@crisp agate Is there any release for how long it takes to traverse the map at walking speed/mount speed etc. in order to give a good idea of size? Also, say everyone is logged in and the area of the map is divided evenly which each player in the center of their own respective area. How much space between people are we talking? That would be a generally good indicator of how often you might run into someone distributed across the area and maybe some lesser regions. As you can tell, I am interested in exploring and would like to be able to go so far I'll never see anyone as a possibility, meaning the things to find would be rarely touched if at all by a few people or parties who happened to go that far.
As for my example, I mean can i see the other person? Would I feel crowded if that were done? Or would they be way far away and the area would still feel decently large in proportion to population?
@grizzled temple It's been said that for instance a guild won't be able to hear of a caravan across the map and be able to zerg and raid it, so I'd say it sounds pretty sizeable. The metropolises are also .5km in radius, which speaks to the kind of scale they're going for.
I don't think the specifics of how large we're talking have been elaborated on—but the size is certainly decent. As for not running into other players when out exploring, I'm sure some areas might be less frequented due to not having a developed node there and so-on.

A system like Ragnarok Online makes it that players need to plan ahead of how they want to build their character from day 1. It also shapes how a player lvls up. I like punishing mechanics where Pure builds suffer in lvling and maybe Shines in late game with items to compensate their weakneses.

Since it takes few weeks to build up a City, it does not necessary mean that those nodes will be the first metropolis, as long as the community don't develop those on purpose. Poeple will move quite fast to less crowded areas. Moreover i believe the amount of lowlevel nodes such a villages is not restrict, thus the place of futher metropolis should not be restrict to the starting zones (it takes many weeks to develop those).

@north condor Weapons/armor aren't restricted to class, but classes are more effective with certain weapons/armor. Every class will have multiple options to use, though. (First one is a response to "will all weapons be open to all classes? same with armor?")
@north condor All classes can use all weapons, but certain classes are more efficient with certain weapons. For instance, if you want to use a shield bash type skill—You'd need a shield.
Dual wielding has been confirmed as well, though we don't know the lengths that it goes in terms of effectiveness.
@karmic sage There are a lot of ways that players can compete with one another. If you mean directly in PvP—There are Arenas with rankings and ladders, that have fights such as 1v1,3v3,5v5, and potentially a FFA with 20 combatants. There are also Open-world PvP systems, castle sieges, guild wars, caravan raids, and so-on.

@gentle juniper That sort of stuff is what happens in nodes, yes. They work in a "choose your own adventure" sort of sense. They'll trigger various events by leveling, and a lot of the content hidden behind them is curated (meaning pre-made, but hidden until we unlock it/trigger it).
@supple nova You aren't locked to which node you primarily invest in. If you don't agree on which place to stay in, you can just as easily still all hang out with one another. Being involved a node doesn't mean you can't play with others outside of the node.

@elecore It's highly likely that those who had experience in the game you mentioned invested their knowledge when developing this game. You're sure to see aspects of many past games as the developers have stated that they wanted to use things that worked well along with their own new ideas (incorporating new technologies) to make the best possible MMORPG. Given that the development team consists of those who've played multiple games, we're likely to see bits and pieces that remind each of us of a game we've played before.

Guild Rewards are assigned to a guild by the owner of the reward. Once assigned to a guild it becomes an assett pf the guild. Guild members that leave a guild no longer have access to the unique items of that guild.

Basically I have yet to see a game where a player can actually create a "Custom" weapon especially in the mmo world. Given the very nature of this game, and how heavy a focus you guys want to make crafting in this game (ty btw for that) I think this is a very natural progression for it. How it could work would be a blacksmith or weaponsmith could have a selection of weapon looks to choose from, and according to his crafting lvl, could be able to imbue that said weapon with a certain number of abilities/skills. Then also hve access ot a special dye system where they can change the color of said weapon. And of course be able to give it a cool name. A good skill for a Master craftsman would be somethign like giving a weapon the ability to transform into a different weapon at the users command. For example say u have a sword and give it the ability to also transform into a bow or warhammer and have it's ability set change according to what the craftsmen set for it. It should def take a ton of mats for this, but it def gives this particualr type of craftsmen a high demand in your game. This idea would def furthr make your MMO the best ever seen and experienced to this day.
It would def provide a additional unique set of weapons totally designed and created by players. i have seen a few animes utilize this to great success but not really an mmo to this degree

@primal dome about 90% you be able to reset your professions and switch to another one example their is 3 professions (gathering,processing,crafting.) I have zero doubt in my mind you can't pay X gold to reset your skill choice and choose another one ( but you will have to more likely restart your progress from scratch )
@wraith ember Don't believe that will play out tbh There will always be resources to gather somewhere it may be far away from its original spot but as the world changes from nodes lvling up etc... new things will pop out and that includes Veins of ore, Resources. ( Now it may be possible for a few days you don't find certain materials Especially when the season changes and that will more likely Higher the price for thoses items on the market )

@trim hemlock The racial skin changes your visual race to a herald of light or darkness. The demonic and angelic beings you become, will have their own cosmetics and armor appearances. It is not a costume, since it's clothing and armor will be different among players.

First question: how would a siege unfold or a city? Do we make our own trebuchet’s then transport them to the node we are attacking via a caravan system? If so is there potential for a attack and defend PVP element that could stop the siege in its tracks before it begins? I think this would be pretty cool as there are elements like this in Rust… so you go to raid a base you spend the time to craft the rockets then there is a risk involved in getting to the place you are hoping to raid.
Second question: So what happens when a company like blizzard decides to steal all your awesome ideas and tie it into their next expansion? Im using blizzard as an example because stealing ideas is something they are very good at.
Third question: I have played world of Warcraft for a very long time and I have seen a trend of dumbing down content to provide a better experience for casual gamers. As much as this annoys myself it makes sense financially. Also I have seen the skill cap of people in the wow community drop significantly as well. I understand your game looks to have amazing complex systems which appeals to myself but will this be a turn off for people that may find it all too challenging?

@desert dune Yes, the demonic/angels skins are like own species and they will look the same and have their own set of armor and things, dosnt matter witch race or gender you will have
@brisk pumice I don' think it will be like Albion online or similar games, they mentioned with the corruption system and that open world PVP, you can attack every player everywhere, even in Nodes and stuff, but for sure the penalty is pretty huge, and they mentioned the penalty will be per Kill. Also maybe the do a safe zone in the starting area, but i think their aim is to make it as Open PVP as possible.
