@marble cradle I imagine fans will try to do this, though with such a dynamic world, it will be hard to document locations or know specific triggers. I can see trying to document much more than monster loot as being too tough to bother.
will there be RTS style game play when it comes to sieging nodes. if so how would you implement it, if not please consider it. i think it would be epic to be fighting in a huge battle and have a elected military official commanding NPCs and players i think it would give war a more fluid and dynamic feel. another example is you have a list of people in the battle and if there in groups you could send small groups of players and/or NPCs to do thing such as cut off supply routes, kill a general or destroy siege equipment.

A tank/cleric is a paladin that will have self-sustain. A fighter/mage changes his rush ability from a charge to an instant teleportation, and fighter/rogue changes his rush ability so that he enters stealth as he starts his charge

@crystal beacon @near crane I believe Steven stated that you need to be active in the specific node to keep the node at its current level. Like the taxes you Take will be needed to be spent on I guess infrastructure and entertainment to keep your citizens happy. So the system is interactive and just sitting in our a node and doing nothing will work against the owners of the node. And they will be adding in new areas and new stories plus dynamic events with every update so there will be something for everyone. He said he didn't want the story to be the same even across different servers. So if you play on dragon and me on unicorn we will experience a different atmosphere and story

@dire cave you can steal crafting matts from people you kill. there is also a arena system and such that they have not gone into that much detail on what it will reward. and general upgrades will be a enchanting type system (so not pvp as far as i know)

Sorry, bringing my professional life into this. ๐ค It's hard to understand how Dec 2018 remains the target for the start of alpha when the scope depends on the results of the KS, which is a few weeks away still. Is Dec 2018 a SWAG or is it a target for a certain set of systems and features? ie. will every KS stretch goal be testable in Alpha 1 or is it more like a subset of the base systems + some of the stretch goals, with the other systems coming on line during the Alpha timeline?

@tawny turtle I am not 100% sure of this, but I believe that is why the stretch goals are so expensive. I believe it is so they can afford to hire people to handle those portions of the project, instead of pushing the project back since they wouldnt have enough developers otherwise.

@silent bone Thanks, I read the same. It's the variables of how many resources and when they get on board + the scope they are to work on. I'd like to see some expectations set around what the target scope is for Alpha perhaps following the completion of the KS.

@tawny turtle It's safe to assume that they know how much money it's needed to pull off the size project they intend to create. Most of the Kickstarter stretch goals they have are things they have accounted for at the beginning of development. They already have the core of the game funded; the kickstarter in a sense was for the stretch goals.

@green mica So, are you saying that the team has defined all of the stretch goals, which will be funded, the total # of resources needed for those goals and that all of the stretch goals hit will be in Alpha Build 1 targetted for Dec 2018...on May 10th when the KS ends June 2?

@true tundra host servers? No. All backers get backer rewards from the stretch goals
I just hope Steven will implement ways to stop the item sellers on 3rd party, because a $15/month will not be enough. I would recommend a 2% RNG to base item CRAFTING stats and durability break for items. Otherwise this game will be a GW2 mirror... if you want to know more, pm me. Player run economy is a very risky move. Without destruction, there is only creation - so item sellers will start moving up and making money.
The economy will be a mess in very short time....
So @idle siren you MUST think about this before telling us - "No RNG", because without, we are gonna be playing a AoC MOBA and an overhauled mirror of Guild Wars 2.

Thats how it used to be done in all MMO (used to be). make just an announcement (forum, citychat). get a fee from all players taking part, make a rank list and get prices for the best one... I believe Duals are confirmed. They cannot add every feature we like, tho. ^^

@fallen stone This game is abot PVE/PVP but their also making it where if you wanna make money, you need to invest in mastering of of the 3 spec aka gathering,crafting, or proccessing. There going be raid dungeons, world bosses, pvp and guild pvp and etc
@fallen stone to add on to what Deaglerk said, the non combat stuff is there to influence PvP and PvE and impact the world, as just like you not everyone likes playing that way. It will effect noncomabt such as crafting a legendary weapon which could only be crafted from the material dropped from a certain world boss. But since you as a combat player choose not to invest much time in crafting you can't craft that item, therefore you have to find a master crafter to do it for you. (A system is in place to prevent scamming) this is how it all ties together and this is just the tip of the ice berg.

In addition to what the video shows is the concept of openers and closers. The closer ability's effect was amplified by the number of landed skills between the opener and itself. However, if one were to miss any ability, the skill deck would reset back to the first row, and the player had to build again. If this is the case. im going to assume that even IF you have the same BUILD. Your 2 builds are completely different because of the WEAPON you chose. will there be RTS style game play when it comes to sieging nodes. if so how would you implement it, if not please consider it. i think it would be epic to be fighting in a huge battle and have a elected military official commanding NPCs and players i think it would give war a more fluid and dynamic feel. another example is you have a list of people in the battle and if there in groups you could send small groups of players and/or NPCs to do thing such as cut off supply routes, kill a general or destroy siege equipment.

My experience in other MMO's is that on average you'll have around 30% to 40% of your members online in prime time, and am a little concerned about the numbers we'll have available if we leave the guild open to all Alts.

i am considering to pledge on kickstarter but i have a few worries as i can't find any info on this.
- is the ingame items you get purely cosmetic?
- is the mount only a skin, like weapon skins, or is it like a regular mount.
- if it is like a regular mount, is there any difference in speed or abilities and/or do you get it faster then the other players?

- Yes all ingame items currently in the kickstarter and whatever items that'll ever get added to the cash shop will be stictly cosmetics. (no p2w)
- We dont know yet (to my knowledge at least) but my guess would be that it would either be a skin you could equip to your mount once you unlock it in game or just a basic mount you would get eventually as others would get their mount (people who havent pledged) so instead of maybe getting a dunkey you'll get a cool looking horse.

@west sundial The only mounts in the KS with special abilities would be the moonstrider, which can carry items, like a mule but it's faster (and looks amazing). And the Dawnbreaker, which can glide. The other KS mounts are ordinary horses stat wise

then again is the plan for pets to be a cash shop item? as they have stated there would be no vanity items and auto looting would make pets so. or are they tameable for everyone? which then again would not make much of a difference in gameplay if you can both buy and catch one
@west sundial there are supposed to be epic mounts that you get from bosses and things like that, there will probably be cosmetic pets in the shop, but i wouldn't guess that combat pets would be.
@west sundial Steven mentioned in the last interview that there might be an epic mount that starts off as an egg you get from a monster and then you have to raise the egg into the mount.
the problem is that i see games get fucked because people are over sensitive to these things and it kills the game in the long run, and thats why i hesitate to spend money on it unfortunatley

@long spear hyperinflation typicaly stems from the ing term persistence of items in a game wherein eventually everyone has access to the "best" stuffs. In AoC however everything eventually breaks gear wise or is increasingly difficult to keep up perhaps requiring a large portion of the original materials to repair. Again however, nothing in AoC is permanent from an item standpoint so the market and economy and player actions will always be driven towards acquisition. If that makes sense
@mild bear what would be the point of doing that? you would have to level up to the point that you could kill a player and then after about 3 or 4 pk's you would have to delete your character and restart which then would make it so you have to level and regear higher because there would be higher level people out for not much of gain if any.

@dry flower There will be different events caused by how a node is developed. We don't have any specifics yet, but Steven used an example of how a dragon boss may appear during winter, and if it is not killed the winter will persist until it is defeated

@broken vessel Steven said that there are different servers for NA, EU and OCE + that characters cannot switch servers as each server will have a different story. I guess you'll have to use 1 character for NA and 1 for EU.

@dull juniper Geometric isn't necessarily "futuristic." There's only one hexagon I'm aware of in nature (on Saturn) but the concept has been known for thousands of years. They're mages, they bend nature into all kinds of shapes ;)

@pale hound both, there will be weapons that can be gained from things such dungeons, but then also remember that you can get legendary/rare mats, and can craft legendary weapons via master crafter, so both will be viable as the "best" end game gear.

Let's say a year or two into this games release, and everything is fully developed and huge cities exist. Will there ever be a map wipe of sorts? Allowing new players to see what AoC is like in the wilderness stage of the game? Or will it be fully developed forever

@coral remnant there are limitations in place so that only a certain amount of nodes can reach metropolis stage at any given moment (like 6 once max.) Basically the whole map will never become 'fully developed'. I'd say it's safe to assume there will always be nodes that are either completely undeveloped or in the very basic stages of development.

@cursive thorn I think you would need to explain a bit more of what you are looking for. Just judging off of your question, it sounds more like something the player would have to create within their character. Unless you mean will we see a diversity where same sex NPCs interact with each other on an openly romantic level, or give your character to do the same thing with an in game marriage system/social system like we saw in the Mass Effect series or later in Dragon Age Inquisition.
@vocal birch Well obviously same-sex romances and what not would be nice.
I was more along the line sod being able to choose whether your character prefers feminine or masculine clothing, if there is voice, then same thing there. So essentially like, you would have male, female, and custom. Where you wouldn't necessarily be limited by regular gender restriction in character appearance and what not.
So similar to these options from Sims 4
I understand that the Holy Trinity of Tank, DPS, and Healer are prevelant, but is there a chance we can see the Divine Quad with Tank, Dps, Healer, and SUPPORT (hopefully a role for the Bard)
@cursive thorn Well, marriage is already confirmed and isn't gender or race locked. I certainly don't see any reason why a sims 4 like approach for gender would not work for AoC. Nothing has been confirmed yet as far as I know. Hopefully @idle siren might weigh in. I'd like such a system too.

I was considering how this would work and it has a HUGE impact on which nodes will be developed fastest. When the game launches the starting nodes will get exp at a very fast rate and that rate will not slow down for some time. If the zones are sectioned off by level it would create a natural progression and possibly stimulate early "Meaningful Conflict" ie: "We don't want this starting zone metropolis pls giv island node city." But this does limit the nodes we can develop early game. So this question also begs whether or not the node system is level locked or will it give us free reign to choose which nodes to develop from launch?

@quasi lion The short answer is NO.
the node system is a benfit system, meaning as you level up and do actions, your action help the node advance. thus enhancing those actions and allowing you to gain an advantage.
However, as diffrent nodes will have diffrent types and diffrent focuses, youll probably want to "join" a node that moves your own play-style, so it will be easier to "level up" and advance in the game.
the options of migration is there, but defintley is not necessery and I think it is safe to assume that it will defintley not limit your leveling.

Difficult question, so early in development, 2 years away from live launch. System requirements will change over time. Something that has been build in the last 4-6 years should be able to run the game.
UE4 gives a lot of graphic options to the client. Players should have the ability to scale things all the way up, or all the way down and performance orientated. UE4 should give them a lot of options in this regard.

The succsessfully retrievable of the stolen โanty-siegeโ artifact will save the node. The tracking of thiefs mechanics, can make the sieges more dynamic, and may cause a solo-infiltration scenarios nearly impossible to achive, but so epic.

@minor schooner If you would have watched the yesterday's stream you would know that there is no limit to how many people can get the citizenship buy purchasing a house in that node, however prices for purchasing a house in that particular node increase with each purchase that was made. Because of price increasing each time it forces you to consider a possibility to get a citizenship in another node.

the tax itself doesnt go to the person governing, but rather into the "node bank" to use to futher develop the node.
it is also importnat that the governemnt maintain a certain balance, too high and poeple may leave, too low and it wont thrive.

All of the options for taxation mentioned so far seem to be direct taxation (taxes on profit, income or wealth). I was wondering if the government could decide to add a tax onto the price of a specific good when it is sold in the ZOI. This could be useful to disincentivise the consumption of goods the government does not like.

@sturdy jacinth this is speculation, but maybe you would get something like the option to throw your sword in an arc while it is on fire to deal some physical damage as well
@pearl stratus (there are 2 people with that name on here) we don't know whether a lute is an actual weapon. Bow&Arrow will most likely just be a 2h weapon, so firing arrows with a lute would not be possible. Some abilities are only usable with certain weapons.

During the migration back to this world, someone had to go ahead and clear the way for all the people heading to the portal. (Make it a safe journey.) You could add a Lore Quest for researching those heroes (The backer Statues). Since those Backers are then almost guaranteed to get notice by the community, it's a more worthwhile reward.
Adds to much fame for people who (as far as I'm concerned) don't particularly deserve recognition just for backing the game.

@wispy sundial the nodes have a progression bar that fills up when people do activties in the ZOI of the node from watching the videos but if we see that ingame is unknown. The first acouple of stages can take hours to progress so i think will see the change ingame when it happens without the need for a server started.

Anyways, if the combat doesnt seem to be your style, the devs are thinking of implementing true tab target and true action combat as a combat style you could play as, as an option.

@junior flint @quaint badger the reason i asked for multiple guilds is indeed for different content, PVE/PVP/economy. Unless they design the game in such a way that it is not needed to join multiple guilds for each interest. In elder scrolls online we had 5 guild slots, and 8 char slots, every char was in those 5 guilds. Maybe thats a better system then joining a guild with every character, makes it too complicated?

I know we can just join a PvX guild for this but it's like specialisation. Since this game say their guild upgrades will be different according to the direction of the guild. That's why I believe we should have an option . I.E: this guild upgrades are for pve buffs and events etc, but the pvp guild might upgrade for large scale combats , or additional defends while being sieged.

@wraith ember @junior flint They mentioned this in a live stream with Doc Got Game, youu can only join 1 guild because being able to join multiple guilds will cause people to be unactive in those other guilds, like they joined them for specific bonuses and that's it, which is why they went for 1 guild only, however different characters can join different guilds, its not account locked

@rapid swallow I know they mention that but there hasn't be a clear answer. Because they make their guild upgrades so diverse on how their guild aims to be. It's hard to pve & pvp at the same time. I backed this kickstarter because Me and my guild love siege wars and this game looks promising. But I would need to know in depth how is this gonna be played out. I'm also a Steven. Literally... guild play a large role for how are we gonna progress in the game.

@junior flint basically from what i understood, any guild will be able to specialize in PvX because of how much the server needs both PvP and PvE, so im thinking they will all be required to do both one way or the other
@junior flint you can play on a PvE guild on one character while your other character can be in a PvP guild.
@heavy steeple what if I only want to focus gearing 1 char and pvp with it. ?
@junior flint Then join a PvP guild. If you want to do PvP and PvE join a PvX guild
@junior flint Plus joining multiple guilds could cause problems if it is not node locked, because what if ur pvp guild attacks your other guild that is based in a different node, you will lose all your progress in that node

I.E - What if @idle siren making a super strong PvP guild and all the upgrades go for PvP only. And his guild is top in AoC. I would want to be in it of course right ? But they only pvp ? , and you @heavy steeple have a decent pve guild which upgrades go for pve cool stuff. I would like to join you for my pve life. What should I do then ?
@junior flint Watch the stream carefully they said exactly why they don't want to allow multiple guilds

@junior flint Then your screwed xD you cant join 2 guilds. #confirmed You just have to join one of them. (I suggest the PvP one, because PvP guilds sometimes do raids on mobs, but are really strong in PvP)

@junior flint The full answer is NO. You cannot join 2 guilds with one character. That is pretty clear imo
Then @heavy steeple , I would like to know how to work around my desires. What they have in plan. Maybe like you said earlier. Choose 1 pvp guild. And to archive those pvp upgrades you need to pve also etc.
@junior flint That is up to the guild you join. Join a guild and they will be the ones to work around it.

@rapid swallow This doesn't answer your question really :p but a point to make is that Steven mentioned that you won't encounter crummy trash items like most mmorpgs!

@balmy wigeon you can have multiple characters in the same server, i'm not sure about the buildings part but i think they will otherwise it will be broken.

@uneven briar I can't tell for sure, but developers said that there won't be any fast travel/transport system in the game. Only the flying dragons for the nodes' officials.
