@hardy bear As for the first part Sieges are open events that players can join either side of. A sucessful siege leads to the node deleveling (not sure how far). A sucessful defence leads to any killed NFCs respawning and the node being safe for a set period of time from another siege. There is no news on rewards for doing either.

@hardy bear to address your second question yes, if 5 metropolis' are built up, but lets say a certain group want to build one up elseware, they would have to siege that node, and drop it a tier before they could build the one they want up to a metropolis. they wouldnt need to completely destroy it to build another however, just drop it one tier so that they can have a metropolis elsewere. Only 5 metropolis' being allowed in a server at a time.

what about the first question? it seems as though two metropolis' would perfer to settle a dispute over lets say a legendary item but sending 1 man for a 1v1 combat and take less damage to their structures than to start a full on siege

@hardy bear Any player who fulfills the requirements of sieging can declare a siege against a node. After this declaration, anyone in the server can choose to participate in the siege. So one person cant really control it. Node sieges are open world and everyone in the world can participate.

Looking at the creature sils, a question of mine popped up. We can see many kinds of mounts, from what looking like a snail with 50 human arms to something that resembles a kin to a dragon. A gryphon or a Chimera. Now, my question is:
Are what we're seeing mainly tameable mounts only or can we actually breed theese beautiful creatures once we've captured them?
Addition: Maybe it's too early to ask and the safe answer might be, ''some may and some may not be breedable.'' So could change the question to something more like...

@wild falcon While the referral program serves a similar purpose, I'd like to see some sort of system that rewards key players with playtime.
There's a lot of people that contribute a lot to the community but don't have people signing up using a referral link. I don't know how they could measure a player's importance but I'd really hate to see someone who is a huge contributor to the community such as a great blacksmith unable to play because they've fallen on hard times. $15 monthly doesn't sound like much but a lot of frugal, low income gamers use MMOs as their only source of entertainment and if it's between shoes for their kid or Ashes of Creation, it's going to be the shoes and we end up losing someone awesome.

@hazy dock there isn't a private test server, (The Alpha server you will be playing on literally during whole alpha is a test server) you probably mean the Public Test Server (PTS), The Alpha server at launch will become the PTS server, and everyone will have access to this server.
@celest leaf The KS will go Live on May 1st nothing before hand will be live. The KS will also only live for the whole month.
@vivid forge There will be a max level at level 50ish, its not revealed yet whether or not there will be a soft cap before this or not (most likely it will be hard cap at 50). The level "grind" will also not be something that be done in the span of a week, and will require effort from the player end, but it also wont a endless grind like some other game. Leveling in other words will be meaningful, and satisfying once you hit max level. Its unrealeased what benefits Max Level players will get.

Naturally, I understand that the manpower required to reviews all the applications would be immense, but you could partially distribute some of the workload to volunteer community members, simply give them guidelines they should follow. @sour kindle yes it is possible have a dragon without the king/queen/mayor position, you can get it as a drop from a world boss but it will have a timer on it, flying is to be kept limited so no keeping it forever isn't possible.
And for the second question yes, you can become a evil leader of a node, but you must first acquire the possition by the process of election/fight/ or however king/queen/mayors of the node are elected but you cannot become a player world boss

So I'm the kinda a player that likes to be in the "shady market" business and I want to be rather hard to find. Could I build a cabin or hut out of a nodes zone influence, not a freehold in some uninhabited mountains, forests, or desert. And not contribute exp to the closest surrounding node through resource gathering or monster slaying?

There are a finite number of points that can be used which allows for Jack of all trades or master of one.(maybe two) and artisan of one.
So with that I think i have 2 q's
- Will the crafting trees be open and viewable so that you can look and see which ones you may want to put points into or is it set up in sutch a way that as you progress you uncover new things you can craft, like a surprise? An evil surprise, but i can see that as being kind of fun until there are enough masters that it becomes common knowledge.
- Is it possable to roll back your crafting progress and reinvest those points in a different area? Example: say im a master wood worker and i find that i would rather work metal.(even though i would do what ever it takes to be a shipwright). Would i be able to sacrifice my master level (along with time and resources put in to get there) taking it back to say novice and get back my crafting points to start up a new craft tree?

Steven let us know that there will be battlepets and smaller companion kind of pets that give a passive debuff. @rancid spruce if they go by regualar kickstarter rules, then yes you can change the pledge you choose, just change your pledge to the prefered amount and done. you will be charged once the goal or time for the KS is completed. also $125 is the alpha pledge

Anyways my question is, are there plans for and early acess or and open beta, and if there are will those accounts that signup for the early access/open beta be restricted to the Public Test Server? I hope they are because in some games that have done this they have allowed there early access players to move to regular servers or just given them a toon even to the level they were in early access, and I personally did not like that. Are server going to be all official servers? Meaning are we going to see servers like World of Warcraft and other traditional MMOs have or something like the new genre of MMOs where the server a maintained and owned by users who run them? It's hard to tell from what I know about the game currently.
Building on this, will a server ever reset? I don't mean from Alpha > Beta > Live resets. I mean a server has been running for 3 months and populations are lower and people are burnt out on the current world, will it reset?

Will there be a high chat limit?
Most recently, Revelation Online was a bane for rpers for chat limit. Posts were maxed I want to say 100 characters and it made a bit difficult for some.
Will there be an RP server?
Not to severe, I know the community would choose a server anyway but is a dedicated rp for that being considered? Or an PvP-RP one?
Will there be a high number of animated emotes that can be performed?
Anything from looped animations, idle poses, emotes that can used while standing, sitting, personal wish for an arms crossed emote.
Can we have /roll commands for dice rolling?
From in character combat, or anything that requires a bit of some good old rng for an rp. It'd be nice to have this command without having to use a separate website for it.
How interactive will players be with each other and the environment?
Will emote animations be able to interact with others players? A the world around us such as leaning against walls, sitting in chairs, etc.
Will there be other pieces of gear that are not tailored to combat?
Showing off armor and weapons is awesome, but in certain settings a suit or armor might not be appropriate. Will there clothing that perhaps gives stats to the artisans skills or various other smaller aspects that can be used for an rp setting? Example various clothing in bdo gave better outcomes in npc conversations. Having the ability to dye these clothes (and armor) is something would fantastic as well and add more diversity.
Will there be various in-game aspects for rpers?
I've ran into various rpers that strictly play games solely to rp and don't typically play for the endgame content, they usually just like the lore and game setting. Since these players don't put their time in contributing to a node on a crafting side or combat. Will there lesser activities for to do, perhaps that can be done in a city or among other players socially that would help the node as well?
How in depth will the lore be?
various games in the past tend to have a very unsure lore for their game and it makes it quite difficult for players to know how they can fit their character in the world without being to much of a cookie cutter type. Will there be an engaging lore or ways to easily access what the lore of the land would be?
Will be able to have spaces in character names?
Because some like to add a surname.

Yes, Steven himself is an RPer and has said numerous times he wants to include some RP friendly mechanics to the game. As for it contributing to a node in particular, it's hard to say—It's based off of things that benefit the node, it's hard to do so without actually doing anything. (Crafting, Questing, Killing Monsters, Gathering, Etc. all contribute to the node)
-How in-depth will the lore be?
Steven has said he's personally a story-based person, and that the lore of Ashes is one of the first things he'd thought out. As an RPer himself, and someone who has played/hosted tabletop campaigns, I'm sure he recognizes the importance of the lore. Jeffrey Bard (someone who worked on quests and storylines in EQ2) is also writing a lot, and is said to be creating something of a lore/story repository for the game. The lore should be strong and cohesive by the sound of it, it's something they take seriously.

From the nodes part 1 video it looks like there's none, but every node will have a small ZOI at the start of the game, are they bordering each other even then so it's a war for areas since the start?.If a node develops and gets more ZOI does it come from the neighboring nodes meaning an economic cold war over territory for example rich with resources or there are free areas that a node can get easily?

@cosmic garden After a successful siege the target node is either de-leveled (reducing it's ZOI in the process) or destroying it (reducing it's ZOI to it's basic stage). Yes, the increasing ZOI comes by taking over neighbouring nodes which also prevents them from leveling over a certain a stage (which is why you can't have more than 5 metropolis in a server).

@buoyant vector from what i understand, only so many nodes can be advanced at any given time, not all. so, there is a benefit of going to war on a node and diminishing it back to ashes.. and that benefit is to level a new node, with new resources, quests, world bosses, and content.. open new trade routes, etc.

@digital yarrow I totally get that aspect. I'm just mainly thinking of having a group of people RP believing that advancing civilization will only bring calamity again. While I will likely arrange this regardless, I wanted to know if there would be any benefit to keeping all nodes below a certain level. It would, in my belief, add an interesting dynamic to the idea that specific content is available based on certain nodes being advanced.

Steven: The answer is, we don't want it to be meaningless where people can advance to cap level in a matter of a week. We also don't want it to be a grind, because we are aware of western audiences are kin to that kind of grind system. We have to find a health balance in between. What exactly that number looks like in time I can't quite give you a definite answer at this time, but I can tell you it won't be meaningless and it won't be grindy. Take that as you may.

I don't quite get what you mean by "= to pvp" but both raids/dungeons and pvp will be important elements within the gameplay. Steven has tried to avoid using the term "end-game" since the game is supposed to be changing all the time which means new dungeons come and go as the world changes.

@digital kestrel thanks for the reply. what i meant by = is will there be guilds that dedicate themselves to pve mainly, and be on equal footing so to speak gear wise as the hardcore pvp guilds, or will pvp be the final goal so to speak. to give an example. In wow you can choose to raid or dungeon or pvp (or all 3) and in theory get similar level gear. pve guilds are not at all inclined to do any pvp unless they want to.

To expand on that, in order to effectively craft things you will need to move them. Which means you will need to protect them/take them from others. Which means you will interact with both PvE & PvP in order to get the best results.

@pseudo gyro Yes, the raids and crafting are treated as equals. In order to get the best gear you'd need components from both crafting and raiding. PvP is good for getting gear only if you hunt corrupted players for their item drops.

@burnt mauve phase 1 is the first phase of the alpha which is divided into multiple phases, if you buy a package with phase one access you will get to place alpha when phase 1 is lauched, but it you buy one with phase 2 you will get to play when phase 2 is launched. and Phase 1 people will have access to phase 2 as well, the invite only one frm drawing is different from KS alpha.

@pseudo gyro That hasn't been stated yet. What comes to the harder PvE content, there will not be so many HP-bulked "bosses" but they will have some quirks that will make them more challenging than just being targeted as large potato bags with masses of health.

I also think that would make the game more immersive as important information about, for example, the development and destruction of nodes has to be delivered by real people that have to travel around and spread the word. Perhaps a node-chat would be appropriate. As far as whispering goes I think it is required to keep whispers since you've still met the people you're whispering during your travels.

Combat is a vital development for the game, and will be amazing. We haven't yet really dived into it, but it will be a hybrid system that focuses on skill, composition, balance/counterbalance and movement/positioning
