Trap cards activation

This may seem stupid but my understanding is that if I have a normal trap card set, end my turn, switch to my opponents turn I am able to activate the trap during their draw phase.

Example, Max Metalmorph set with a dragon on my field. My opponent draws for turn…

Can I activate my trap to summon a Metalmorph monster or do I need to wait until my opponent activates a card effect and respond to that?

The turn player usually has priority for activating cards, but if they have nothing to activate, you can activate Max Metalmorph in the DP. You have to change the chaining mode to manual though
