In turn 5, I have an activated "Secret Village of the Spellcasters" and four Spellcaster monsters. My opponent had no monsters on the board, so they should have been unable to activate Spell Cards. Despite this, they activated "Primitive Plant Reichphobia" in an attempt to destroy my "Eternal Soul." Why was this permitted? Is activating a Field Spell Card already in play somehow not considered activating a Spell Card?

It only stops activating spells from the hand

#

If it stopped spells that are already face up on the field it would also say 'or effects'

Cannot activate Spell Cards ≠ Cannot activate Spell Cards or effects

#

You activate a Spell Card when you activate a Spell that isn't already face-up on the field

#

You activate a Spell effect by activating the effect of a Spell that is already face-up on the field

Alright, that all makes sense, thanks to you both!
