Lyrilusk recital starling was the xyz monster used when this was found in both instances. When I had dimensional fissure active on board my opponent detached material to use recital’s effect and the material went to grave, however when D shifter was active instead (having resolved its quick effect to send all to banish) the detached materials went to banish. My question is what’s the difference that makes their effects which should work the same in this scenario (in my head) work differently.

Dimensional Fissure makes monsters get banished instead of going to the GY, While they are Xyz material, monsters are not monsters. Dimension Shifter makes any card that sent to the GY get banished and since it doesn't spesify monsters specifically, it works .
