I was looking at my white star today when the idea suddenly struck me. Looking through the drone section, they're the least developed modules. I don't mean they're bad, as they're generally useful and fulfill their purpose, but they're a type of module that makes combat ships stand out and could benefit from some improvements.
For example, these improvements could include the drone coming with a pre-installed combat module, such as:
- Decoy drone with EMP.
- Healing drone with Fortify or something similar.
- Rocket launcher drone with Link.
And being able to activate the drone module when needed, for example, or having it operate automatically. (Although they should fix the solo ships too, haha)
On the other hand, those improvements could also be changes to the drone's movement pattern. I mean, drones that move can only choose one direction, but it would be good if some could choose several, like the Delta Missile. This way, the rocket launcher drone could reposition itself, or the drone squad could also use a side attack tactic, for example, instead of a frontal attack.
Another possible improvement could be changing the stats or value of certain drones. For example, the healing drone could also change its item like the decoy, or some could have a temporary shield.
These improvements are just ideas that occurred to me. Although some suggestions might sound unbalanced, they could be adapted, such as reducing the effect of the combat module or balancing stats.
The purpose of these changes is to make drones feel more like support aircraft, giving them greater relevance.
