#Corp creation cost

Basically, increase the cost of creating a corp.

Why ?

  1. Right now* there’s too many random corps created by lower players that don’t ever take off the ground because they think it’s easy.
  2. The cost to create compared to upgrading corp ship is very very disproportionate.
  3. Less corps in general will have players focus more on established corps instead of playing the game in first gear and quitting because it’s even slower than it should be because they are in some level 20 player dead corp.

i agree with this.
too many players just starting are immature enough to start a new corp and hope this is like Minecraft where children randomly join.

#

then these new players they get are basically wasted because they are not cared for by the kids starting corps like this.
they might have stayed with the game if they joined a corp that has experienced people or conglomerates with mentoring programs. but the newbie corps don't know what to do with them and they move on.

#

stop children from making corps!

Mandatory id verification for corp creation!

If you make corp creation cost 4m you would see a lot less dead corps , even 2-3m is okey but 4m cost ? A lot higher standard of average corps

#

Okey 4m would cause a lot of players to be corp less but 1.5m or 2m should be fine

I think that corps that are level 10 or lower should be displayed in a different colour, and corps that are level 3 or lower should have an icon next to their names.

This will stop the white star cheating that was discovered where a corp created a bunch of clone corps of well known corporations, to disguise the match fixing they were doing.

#

Also, html codes should not be allowed in corp names

My focus is to increase the quality of average corp and the benefit of that is having more players condensed into good corps instead of being spread out in dead corps.

That's an especially big issue with low quality corps where majority of players join when they just start the game.

Changing the corp color or adding an icon wont mean much to players new to the game, they will join the first corp that invite them.

If the first corp that invite them is a corp created by a level 15 player that started playing 48h ago, that's the corp he will join no matter the corp icon or colors.

Now if the creation of a corp require a substancial game experience before hand, like 1.5m currency cost or even 2m, 99% of players creating a corp will know what managing a corp is like because they have been in one before, which will increase the standards of newly created corps.

#

What would probably also happen is more "big corps" making "baby corps" as training ground for main corp but that's also fine because then fresh players will have mentor programs for fresh players and fresh players will get a better first impression of the game.

i agree with this reasoning ^ also my experience

I don't think there is much of in issue with corp creation at the lower end other than the fake corps.

The bigger issue are the existing dead corps littering the top of the leaderboard due to the fact old WS xp gains were wildly larger than current xp gains.

The only issue with many new corps is that some players may not integrate into the game, but many people play MMOs just to hang out with their friends and have no interest in that and at least giving those players an avenue into the game so they can be blue star fodder means that these game modes are starved even more of participants.

That being said, I think that the game does need to evolve the corporation structure, probably formalising alliances, creating an umbrella group for the mega corps to organise.

Probably also allow people to have two corp memberships slots, one as their permanent family and another for their "current membership"

While it's not how the corporation system was originally intended (Andreas originally didn't want people to be able to corp hop for bonus and Dark Nebula originally had a requirement during early access that prevented it) - the reality is that players will always play this way and the reason it was reinstated is because of the backlash

The umbrella system could be used to sponsor junior corporations, but I don't think that raising the cost to 4 million is going to achieve much. To a d11 player 4 million barely registers as a quantity of money, you are just kicking the can up the road, but at the same time stopping smaller players from ever being able to create a corporation

lavish wasp
#

the whole fake/clone corps abuse and what not is a different topic in my opinion, this is about creating corps not abusing game mechanics

lavish wasp
#

oh god... tha'ts how drama start.... c you later

proven token
#

I literally mention that the current system does have the problem of players failing to integrate into the game

lavish wasp
#

that we agree on

proven token
#

I just say that raising the cost will have other impacts on the game

lavish wasp

#

Is that when I said "level 1-3" get a icon and level 10 and under get a different colour

#

Is that these could be renamed to be different things

lavish wasp
#

but its also not too bad to be corp less for the first few days, corp is not critical for the first few days of the game

proven token
#

So what is currently a level 1 to 3 corp is just a "gang" or "friend group" or whatever

#

That can evolve into a team (level 4-10)

#

And becomes a corporation at level 11

lavish wasp
#

I dont have numbers but I invite devs to look into the amount of corps with 1-3 players, or the average amount of members across all corps? I am pretty sure an average corp is only 3-5 members if you look at the whole corp list

#

and that means there's too many corps

proven token
#

The game could even require gangs to merge with another gang to make a team

#

Or be absorbed into an existing team

#

And teams to merge to create a corporation

lavish wasp
#

I worked with Devs as a moderator in a different game, you dont want to give over complicated ideas to Devs

proven token
#

Just raising the cost to some arbitrarily large number isn't going to stop the existing problem, but it will create new problems

# proven token Maybe read all of my post

yes, you are changing the subject to fake corps and things that interest you and dismiss recruitment of new players in poorly led newbie corps as something unimportant. that's completely off topic.

lavish wasp
#

keep it simple, changing corp creation cost is more of a discussion than dev work, for devs implementing it is childs play, making umbrella system, merge tool and being the member of 2 corps at once? Lots of work

proven token
lavish wasp
#

Oh right, another idea, making a corp can stay 20k but you limit the amount of members to 5 , upgrading to 20 would cost 2m

#

kind of like corp ship upgrade

#

can be less than 5, if you want corps for "small private group of friends"

lean tangle
#

Make it cost credits and have the credit limit be high enough where like you have to be rs7+ or something. But idk if thats really a fair idea😂

proven token
lavish wasp
#

Any $$ payment in the game should be optional and not be mandatory to play the game

lean tangle
#

All the $ options are optional not mandatory

proven token
#

But I think that long term this would further be improved by allowing teams to merge

#

But that isn't necessary to begin with for the first iteration

lean tangle
#

Definitely dont make corps cost $ 😂

proven token
#

Would in the the "nice to have"

lavish wasp
lean tangle
#

Crystals can be gained for free I thought you meant like 4.99 purchase to unlock your corp 😂

#

But even if it is a crystals number you can just buy it. You cant buy your credit cap thats why I said credit cap limited

lavish wasp
#

maybe it could cost crystals to make a corp since they can be gotten for free but again you could have 48h old accounts making corps

#

currency cap = mandatory experience

lean tangle
#

Well yeah you want people to play the game

lavish wasp
#

What I suggest is having more experienced players create corps instead of random players with near no experience at all

lean tangle
#

So do rs10 credit cap 😂

lavish wasp
#

it has to be balanced

lean tangle
#

Either way the higher lvl corps already have all the advantages

proven token
#

And you can pay $3 million to convert a maxed out hangout to a corporation (so it will have to have reached 1000 corp xp or something)

lavish wasp
#

there are some "private" corps with 2-3 friends and that's fine for 20k creation cost but anything larger should already cost a lot more, that's my view, 10 players or 20 players initial cap wont change much

proven token
#

This would communicate to the players who are just making throway teams for their friends to hang out in that there is a benefit to having a corporatiom

#

And the UI could also include a note to suggest that it's advised to seek out an existing corporation to join

lavish wasp
#

again, that's a simple thing to do/add, low dev work

fresh token
lavish wasp
#

That way “private corp” or small group of players wanting privacy stay cheap but anything larger requires much more
