I really miss getting extra credits and hydro from pre-DN White Stars, but removing those rewards was understandable given that a instant lump sum of rewards isn't great for balancing or constant progression.
My solution: When a WS ends, every player who participated in the WS receives a temporary bonus percent to their Credits income that increases depending on if they won the WS, and on Corporation level. This bonus would apply in addition to the Corporation-wide Research bonus.
For instance: Finishing a WS in a ~RS7-level Corporation increases income from ALL sources of Credits by 5% for 5 days if you participate, and 25% if you win.
Here's why I think this is a good solution:
- Resistant to loss farming: While you can technically get a bonus by deliberately running into the enemy repeatedly and dying, the much larger bonus provided by a win encourages everyone to participate.
- Better incentive to play WS. Credits are literally cold, hard cash, and being able to see your Credits income fill up noticeably faster is a nice bonus. Furthermore, since this bonus ONLY applies to players who play WS, it encourages Corp members to join and fill a WS queue.
- Non-fluctuating economy: Instead of a lump sum that results in jerky, unsteady progression, a percent bonus is a much smoother way of progressing faster.
- Most importantly, it supports smaller corps: Because corps only have a limited number of people who can be in the WS simultaneously, and because ONLY people who participated in the WS get the bonus, lower-ranked players need to form or join new Corps to get the bonus, instead of just corp-hopping like people do for Artifact bonuses. This would encourage significantly more corps to be formed and grow over time, helping fill the WS queue and providing welcoming communities for new players.
