That's another thing and another suggestion, it has nothing to do with this
You are literally suggesting adding AoE damage to laser
Yeah, 90% of weapons are single target. This would be a cool feature for laser, we would have another option besides mass bat, it adds variety. And the thing you're complaining about will be fixed with the new update that's already in development. They already said that soli will be nerfed, and they're modifying weapons, so...
- Laser: Single target 🎯
- Mass battery: Multi target3️⃣
- Battery: Single target 🎯
- Dual laser: Multi target 2️⃣
- Barrage: Single target 🎯
- Dart launcher: Single target 🎯
- Chain ray: Single target 🎯
- Rocket launcher: AOE ♾️

Making all weapons into all purpose tools is not adding variety.
The problem with the single target weapons is not their lack of fighting against multiple enemies. It's having no missile defense while fighting with an enemy ship.
Solitude was confirmed to be nerfed only in quantum stars. And there were no mentions of any changes to cerberus ships amounts and layouts. Additionally, making weapons viable via dark/light variants instead of doing that to the base variant will be extrrmely lame
I'm somewhat sure that they will change the mb meta somehow, at least I hope so
