Suggestion to modify the operation of weapon modules that have Target Switch Delay so that the delay only applies to switching targets and no longer to initial engagement as well.

Unlike the initial setup delay for a drone/turret type weapon, there is no reason for a BS weapon not to already be armed and locked onto a target by the time it comes within range.

In contrast (now that I think of it) … introducing a delay for ships that have just teleported (or been teleported to) would make sense.

i think you misunderstand TSD

after the target of the weapon is null (out of range or dead) the weapon starts a timer, and in the time that timer is < the time TSD lasts, it cannot shoot

afterwards, it can attack as soon as a new target is in range

so if you just wait 2s then barrage will start shooting instantly if you walk up to say a sentinel

I’m still not sure whether that delay is part of the target switch delay programming though, hence why the post is titled as is

There is a delay when you switch targets. 2s/20m (bls or rs vs WS). or 3s/30m for chain ray.

If you aren't switch targets it firest instantly. If it's the 2nd target then you have to wait.

Now if you're saying barrage has a bug....

That would be a bug report, not a suggestion

unless you just prior had a target, there shouldnt be a delay on first contact

for example, if you've never been in combat, you shouldnt have any delays at all until after you go out of range or kill your target

If it’s not intentional, then as Amanda bar says, it’s a bug. But I’m just a player, so I can’t speak for what is or isn’t intentional, I can only state what I’m seeing; so this thread is saying that I’m seeing an initial delay that appears to match the target switch delay.

It might be a really clunky time ref. if I take it from a WS playback. I’ll see what I can do.

Timing of interceptor taking damage.

35.6hr ago first firing, taking damage at 35.6.

Generally it takes 4m for damage to apply once firing occurs from any weapon, about .1 hour (.1=6m)

CR TSD is 30m in a WS. That is .5 hours. Clearly not what occurred

the target switch delay is a raw nerf just for balancing, but theres no additional benefit that you'd play these modules for that would be worth the switch delay
