Quick and dirty calculations show that for level 10 module stats, laser kills faster than battery only for enemies with ~20k HP (~5.5k HP for mbatt)

With solitude (level 10) buff applied, laser is only faster than batt at killing enemies with ~66k HP or more, meaning it is only worth taking lasers against dark carriers

A possibility is to apply damage modifiers (sol, wamp, fort, suspend) to ramp speed as well

For example, soli 10 with 230% damage buff will also make the laser ramp at 3.3x normal speed

This will help laser gain relevancy in soli builds against capitals

Idk if making sol applicable to both ramp speed and damage is fair. You are effectively getting double bonus from a single mod. Also doesn’t factor in battery target switch. Damage isn’t the big issue here but target acquisition I think.

the problem is even if target acquisition is easier, sol would still make battery kill faster than laser in the vast majority of cases

pure damage boosts harm lasers because it increases the upfront performance of other weapons, this change would make it similar to time warp in that 300% damage is the same as compressing 3t seconds worth of damage into t seconds of time (laser damage scales same as other weapons in this case)

I feel like single laser is just meant to be a bad starting weapon you graduate from quickly. Dl seems to be much more inline with the other weapons imo. The ability to maintain ramp when target switching is really important. Laser lacking this function falls flat even for capitals since they can’t defend themselves. With battery you can bounce and come back even if it reduces some damage it’s not resetting the entire thing

laser is better than battery at first when shooting large cerbs, because it takes longer to shoot them at lower levels and ramped damage is used more.
picking level 10 for all mods to create an example is kind of arbitrary and valid at a certain phase in player progression (rs8 fighting drs7?), but not necessarily before or after that. also you can't consider abstract ship vs colo duels because that doesn't happen with the mobs present in rs/drs requiring mass battery. would someone else clear the trash from the sector then enters single-target hero to take down the big colo?

😃as long as MB does so much damage (someone looking to be effective) will certainly use MB over all other weapons.
OG hades we were forced to mix and match a bit, because MB just did to little damage alone.
So lazers and battery as well as barrage could shine.

Rn even if Lazer did ramp up faster for example, the next problem is the trash cerbs.
😃Rn u can use 3 BS but your research time is going to take way longer + you gonna move and clear way slower.
Rip DRS probably.
Especially Team DRS. Unless you buy crystals and manage to rush soli build and your 3 BS team build.

Honestly we should stop caring about PvE (module wise) and instead focus pvp.
At least with pvp it is easier to make changes with people being more accepting.
For PvE probably better cerb spawns and stronger cerbs.

or rather confining the scope of the balancing for laser to have uses over the current battery
