Convert credits into hydro and hydro into credits at a lopsided rate that improves upon leveling up.

lopsided*
The game balance depends on its hydro limit. No.

I like the idea, yet it could be heavily abused just like alts before Dark Nebula.
The scaling part of hades star makes this really difficult to work properly.

Someone explain how this is useful at all. Just do less shipments the next day

Not trying to be a prick, but I don't visit unsecured sites. Gemme the dl;dr? I'm not understanding how this throws off the balance of the game when everyone has access to the same mechanic. Elaborate?

So basically before the Dark Nebula update, the use of alts for hydro farming was heavily abused, a lot of people did that.
Even asking friends if they could farm their base too.
You could stack hydro by big amounts in your own yellow star or alts. And then whenever you wanted to you could farm it and you don't let the hydro completely shrink down. You stack until max hydro and never let it disappear. You could do this across your whole yellow star system.
The old corps I was in, I was constantly asked all the time if I or other people could farm my or other people's yellow star systems.
What this led to was that a lot of people hyper farmed red stars by going there and gathering all the artifacts and then coming back to base to salvage all of them. This went in repeat for long periods of time. Meaning they could farm currency quickly and efficiently.
While also mostly never emptying up on hydro when done right.
The devs wanted this to be removed so that constant mine and salvaging farming was not a thing.
That is why the star harvester and genesis have around a 23 hour something timer on it.
And also why enrich can't be used in Yellow stars anymore.
And also why you cant mine in other people's star systems anymore.
That is the first part.

The second part is that while it sounds like a great idea when you are low level with low modules and low level ships.
And a terrible economy, and also possibly a big hydrogen consumption issue. For gathering artifacts to progress

The higher you scale in economy, the more it could be abused into going back to pre Dark Nebula period in terms of abusing this mechanic.
It could be ways to make a fix to this, yet in my mind it sounds like way too much to deal with.

You have the green heart icon on your profile but I don't think you're new to the game. At all. I am however, pretty new, because you're talking about stuff I haven't a clue about. That said, I don't doubt that what you're saying has validity, but at the end of the day... I think a conversation station would be sweet 🙂

Yeah I have played this game for many years, yet never really been in the discord until now.
It may not sound like much until you knew how much of an issue it truly was for balance of economies and hydro back in the days.

And you are free to think that. All I wanted to do was explain why it could be complicated, yet I like your optimism.
Just like sensei like people would say: No ideas are too dumb. It is just if its possible and viable to implement it or not.

yea I think if I was a higher player, or played longer, or both actually, then I would understand the economy better. I just learned from my corp 2 days ago about hydro in the sense that... I had a ton of it and I'm thinking, what am I going to do with all this because it just keeps increasing and not going down even though I'm down RS and using the Shipment Relay. I'm told just wait until you get the SR higher and that makes sense. Also, now that I can get into RS6 and I'm still learning the mechanics, I'm losing a lot of ships so I'm spending a ton of hydro. That type of stuff.

If I would say that im still not doing mistakes, I would be lying.
You will eventually understand economy better. You can also see that some players still does the salvage strat. Yet its not close as efficient as it once was.
If you end up having too much hydro that you cant use, you should spend it on gathering specific artifacts that you want.
That is what I am doing whenever I can.
As some module artifacts aren't as important to gather as others. For example drone artifacts is not so important. As they work very well even on low module level.

If excess hydro exists then shipment relays higher levels exist to squeeze out the extra credits.

Getting more hydro by wasting credits is counter productive, Imagine if a new player wasted every single credit because they don’t understand hydro
The eventual softlock
Then the wasted time catching back up
Now theres a backwards progression button in your yellow star that the player avoids at all costs

The only thing this suggestion would do is help players with stranded transports in red star
They couldn’t manage hydro, bye bye transports
Upgrade rush next time

Nevermind i can simplify this further

Would anyone like to share with the class what does

  • Genesis
  • The star harvester
  • Hydrogen replicator
  • short range scanner
    Have in common ❓
