I think WS is a special mode of the game, where the 10 most competitive players in a Corp are all working together to capture more relics than the other corp's most competitive players.

Because it is such a popular competitive mode, I think if there was a season once or twice a year, like a normal sports season would bring a lot more interest to the mode. I would think It could be many tiers of active corps whose FOs could schedule matches every week for 1 1/2 months - 2 1/2 months, after which would be a month long tournament of that tiers' best performing teams.
I think this would allow Parallel Space inc. to be close inspectors in their own game. If a large MegaCorp enters multiple corps for the match they will not be allowed in the same tier or if they do not fit in any tiers other than with their sister corp they may be denied participation by the PSi inspector. If a corp has enough members for two teams, they are not allowed to enter two teams. The second team could be used for regular WS.
Teams will be organized after 10-15 members are selected(10 pilots for the A team, and 0-5 alternates or benched pilots). After these pilots are selected will the tiers of competition be selected. The teams will be locked at the beginning of each week, so any substitutions need to happen between matches.
Every match during this tournament would have hydro and credit rewards in addition to special RS art bonus. In the "post season" tournament there would be distinctions (1-8) and crystal rewards for participants. This would be a great way to introduce Corporation Distinctions as well.
