The problem is if you have a bad plan at the beginning and really do get smashed, you might not be able to get many points.
Even if a corporation makes an effort at that point, the battle is lost.
The losing team should not be cheated out of the 40 experience points.
They did put up an effort. They just didn't play very well

The second white star from the big corporation is not going to have the top players who might have players who were more casual focused, but the flagship is very high and they get matched against strong opponents.
You don't want to discourage them from participating
