I think most solitude users that occasionally run pub rs encountered this. Players that intentionally jump or fly into the sector to break solitude. It seems the most popular form of griefing in public dn rs and it happens a lot. To the point where some players literally do nothing else. They don't help clearing or even load artifacts.
Because it has no other purpose than disruption, it should be considered griefing. A bannable offense.
#Consider intentional solitude breaking a form of griefing.

Not that you're wrong, but this seems like a large waste of staff time to actually enforce. If you are doing pub runs why not just take 3x stack and avoid the issue?
So you're suggesting that I should make my build weaker to avoid griefing?
We shouldn't have to adapt to griefers. The game should adapt to make griefing punishable or impossible to do.
That's why we can't use bond in rs.
You can view it that way if you want.
"shouldn't" is fine and I already agreed, but this issue in particular seems like a massive source of wasted time and hurt feelings caused by false (mistaken) reports.
I am arguing it is impractical to enforce, not that it isn't objectively a good idea.
A solution similar to banning bond would be optimal, but one isn't coming to mind.
It's safe to assume that a report gets carefully watched. Just like in hs.
It's not hard to see the difference between intentional and unintentional.
It's just as practical or impractical as it was in hs. That's no excuse to not enforce it.
Bond griefing is a very deliberate use of game knowledge
I feel some ppl at lower rs levels who break soli didn't see your ships/mods/know how it worked
Reporting them for griefing is a tad much
What about RS9? Some players just jump into sectors I’m working and leave my bs to death
Some of them also have solitude 11+
This is far too complicated and unworkable to be a rule.

Player ignorance on how solitude works (I did a public rs9 yesterday where player A "griefed" themselves, sending two of their own solitude equipped ships to assist another solitude player B who was responding to an interceptor spawning on A's TS)

Public RS is sanced

Solitude is not always faster and solitude players often hold up the map by partitioning off the map turning into a maze. I run solitude on my main, but on my rs8 alt I often find myself sitting watching a solitude player taking forever to kill a bomber and holding up loading that my wamped dart could one shot.
If we are considering solitude breaking griefing and penalise players who break solitude then we should consider incompetent solitude players who take too long to clear a sector and cause other players who had to burn more arts to rse to make up for the time wasted because the new rules outlawed them jumping in to get the job done properly.
...
You can't get financial loss in public red star, and if your solitude is high enough that the above would never be a problem then you can easily solo a red star with full arts collection so don't even need to be chancing it in public in the first place.
oh, so every time my corp mates nerfed my barrage, and healed the colossus, they were actively griefing me.
Yeah, multiple solitude players turn the map into a maze. I would suggest not allowing solitude in regular RS's and allow the mod for other stars.
If they enter my sector, I immediately leave. They have removed my ability to kill everything there within the next 30 seconds and so they can have at it.
They are your corp mates just talk to them about it
Yeah I hear you. My thinking is that pubs are pubs. Most players are casual and most do their best. During the barrage meta, it was harder to accidentally trash someone else's mods: 3 players, 3 sectors. With solitude it's easier: 3 players, 9 solitude ships in 9 sectors. I don't think it is a reasonable expectation for casuals to know the nitty gritty details on every mod. And more unreasonable to base negative actions against based on that.
As you said, I quickly leave a sector if someone else enters. Or if I accidentally step on someone else's solitude I quickly leave.
I still think solitude is way OP for regular RS's.
Half the people who do it have solitude
Then how would we do RS events without it? MOST of the players if not all use Solitude.
If you think it’s way too OP as a module, just don’t use it yourself. 😭
This will never happen on the scale you're asking for. But you can always start your own Corp and impose all the ridiculous restrictions you want. It's only 10K credits.
I might be wrong, but I think most RS event points come from high level Dark RS's.
Yeah but they mostly solo clear them
And Solitude is the heart module for it
Without it, RSEs would be much much harder
Or just trying to solo clear practically would be an impossible task for those who want it
What you want won’t really make into the game anytime. Because most (if not all) of the Solitude runners would disagree with this change and RS mechanic would heavily change after this.
Just so we're not misunderstanding each other, I think solitude is needed for Dark Red Stars. I don't think solitude is strictly necessary for regular Red Stars.
Potential solution route (numbers can be tweaked):
- Half Solitude damage boost in RS
- Make the damage boost go away from your own bships only, not other player bships
At the very least... it seems odd to me that a Solitude bship can deal equal if not greater damage than all 3 combined. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
We will end up having instanced cerbs if other players don't affect solitude in public red star.
Already sort of possible.
