There are mods that increase the availability of hydrogen and mods that reduce the burn in rs and ys. You should level them.

That's precisely the thing, though. HS WAS supposed to have a hydrogen shortage, and that was fixed with DN. Have you read the dev blogs?

Hydrogen is awful for brand new players (less than 5 days) but after that hydrogen is actually quite abundant until RS7.

The older players get ways to mitigate the issue, like genesis, rush, star harvester, shipping drones (instead of relay), etc, but they are supposed to suffer a shortage.

I don't know if mid RS10 classifies as an old player, but hydrogen is quite abundant here. 36k free hydrogen every day, with drone15...

I've only just started playing again a few days ago after a long time off lol, so I'm still getting used to the changes and haven't had time to catch up on all that has changed

Yes. Level gen, hydro rep, and star harvester to max. Unlock all sectors and don’t be needlessly wasteful you’ll have plenty

Hydro mods are mandatory in 3 if the 4 game mods I don’t see how they couldn’t be the most important in the game
