#[Solved] Chase Camera Pitch / Height Adjustment?

Hi everyone, my name is Alessandro and I’ve just discovered this amazing simulator. For over 10 years I’ve been playing Gran Turismo, but instead of getting a PS5 I recently switched to a gaming PC. Among all the simulators I’ve tried on Steam, RaceRoom is the one that impressed me the most, both in terms of physics and car selection. I really love touring cars, and I’m actually planning to get all the DTM, Super Touring, and Touring car packs. However, I have a small issue…

As I mentioned, I’ve been playing Gran Turismo for a very long time, and I’m really struggling with the chase camera in this game. Even with the pitch set as low as possible using the numpad, the camera still doesn’t go low enough for my preference (first image), while I’m used to a much lower camera angle (second image). I’ve been playing for over two weeks now, and I still can’t find the right feeling because of this.

I noticed that in the game files, under the path: "Steam\steamapps\common\raceroom\game\gamedata\cars[car_name]\cameras" there are editable camera files for each car.

Is it possible to fix this issue from there? If so, how?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

So you have already bound some keys for camera movement and you say you pitched the camera down fully already. Hm, good question then.
About the files: the ones you show there aren't the one you are looking for.
Go to ...Documents/My Games/SimBin/ raceroom../UserData/CarSetups. And down there is the file you may want to look into. It contains tweaks like steering angle and also camera pitch. It can be edited with notepad++ for example.
But i am not sure how to edit the values in it as i have never done that befofe.

I did all my tests on the Alpine A110 Cup. Using the numpad, I tried adjusting everything: orientation, pitch, and zoom. I went to the path you kindly suggested, and indeed the game saved some changes in a “.uvm” file. However, when I opened it with Notepad++, it only contained the zoom value. Still, it gave me a very useful clue: the name of the camera (swingman, as shown in the first image).

At that point, I went back to the previous directory, found the “swingman_mid” camera, and modified the values “targetOffset” and “translationOffset” (second image). And as you can see from the images, the pitch actually changed.

Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful your information has been. When you’ve been using the same camera style for 10 years, it’s really hard to switch 😂 . Thanks again! 🙏

P.S. One more small thing: on Steam it says the game also supports an Italian interface, but where can I change it? I can’t find that option anywhere.

Nice that it worked.
Just a little info: whenever there is an update to the game or you maybe verify files for whatever reason, those edited files in the game directory will be overwritten (unlike the ones in Documents).
So please make sure to back up the edited files sometimes 😄

When you go into the options menu (the cogwheel top right) then to "system" you should be able to choose italian. but there is still a bug where the old white menus can be all english. but the new menus should be fine.

I figured that might be the case, so I already made a backup of both the original file and my customized one. I also managed to change the languag while not everything is translated, the important things like car setups and other features are. Thanks for everything! 😀 👋
