Hi people,

Only recently is this problem happening - For the past 2 years+ Raceroom loads in a flash as well as the races but now its taking up to 5mins to get into the game and super long into races

I have tried the following
-Reinstalling
-Reinstalling on different hard drive (both SSD)
-Verifying files
-Restarting router
-Updating GFX Driver

Any ideas please guys?

I assume the obvious "turn it off and on again" (the PC that is) didn't work either?

Delete some replays , or move them

#

Try a vpn

#

Maybe how your isp routes to the servers has changed

runic hearth
#

Tried VPN and deleted all my replays - still taking a long time 😦

#

its like its hanging up every so often - when i click the little box when loading it goes white and says 'not responding' with the circle loading icon - i have to wait ages before it loads

#

i also dont think its my pc as ive tried over 10 games and they all run/load fine

#

I am in the same situation, I think it started with the last update and I've also reinstalled and it's happening the same

brazen prairie
#

Go to documents / my games / rename the simbin folder old simbin , restart game see if it loads

runic hearth
#

same thing unfortunately

runic hearth
brazen prairie
#

But only a few ppl seem to have it so pointing solely at the update cant be correct

dense jungle
#

played with my friends earlier and we encountered the same problem

#

took us ages to load in

brazen prairie
#

Not happening to me ,

runic hearth
#

there has to be something up with the game - maybe all of us that have same problem have same gfx card or something? im not technical minded when it comes to PC's but just spoke to the sim discord im a part of and quite a few have it aswell

Its been sent to devs

I just measured, the game was sitting on that small loading splash screen for more than 2 minutes. Closed the game, started again, same. Normally it takes less than a minute.

For me it's still somewhat acceptable. Probably not only for me, so that's why we aren't seeing everyone complaining. But for others the loading times became unreasonably high.

Small loading screen going on 5 minutes and it just gave up. Was fine up until I updated the game this week. Might be effecting select users based on hardware with the update? Reboot, reinstall, etc and the same occurs.

torn gull
#

I'm pretty sure it's not hardware. I looked at it, and at this small loading screen only internet connection is active, GPU is idling, CPU is barely loaded (one thread at 30% average).

Tested 6 times this morning , location south east france , connection mobile via wifi , average time from clicking join to being in game 2m 40 seconds ...... now ok this is longer than my usual 1m 30 , it isnt going to kill me

runic hearth
#

It isn't all about you Andi 🤣 a LOT of people have this problem and it needs addressing, simple

#

I've gone from literal 5 seconds to over 5 minutes sometimes. One member on Reddit says sometimes it takes 5mins and other times 15! Something is up

#

Yes it isn't game breaking but if this happens to people who have just bought it they will be put off

brazen prairie
#

Its with the devs , i was just trying to show a post with a bit of info to be honest , normal load time / present load time and location ,

shadow thicket
#

task master often says RR not responding whilst this lengthy loading is going on ..

brazen prairie
#

From what i see the game stalls at the start , under 70mb of ram , and having low data transfer , getting 0.3mb expecting 1.7mb connections , its being looked at but it loads .......

#

Loading takes forever for me as well.
Plus the game is really bumpy and every so often it's lagging. Difficult to drive that way...

azure saddle
#

i just did a timed start of R3E and it took about 60 seconds

#

(which is a lot slower than usual)

2 minutes & 46 seconds loading time - about the same as the last few days. Usually for me it takes roughly 30-40 seconds.

Similar time to load to the main screen ☝️ Most of the time task manager doesn't even show process details until the last few seconds after displaying the splash screen. Columns: CPU, memory, disk, network, power usage.

torn gull
#
  1. Started the game again, same 2:05-2:10 until fullscreen opens.
  2. Another start, something interesting happened. The download wouldn't start for a whole minute after I started the game. After that it was same as above, 2-something minutes.
    Attached logs from both sessions.

2m50s to start an AI race. After a couple of minutes disk "ramped up" to about 3MB/s.

Another interesting thing. I started the game in 32-bit mode and loading times are back to below 1 minute. Internet usage is significantly better.

deft bane
#

Can others check if its consistently faster using the 32 bit, slower when using the 64 bit .exe

deft bane
heavy badge
#

Yep, same for me: in 32-bit mode 25s to get to the main menu, 50s to load the race that takes 2m50s in 64-bit mode. Edit: tried again main menu 64-bit 1m50s, 32-bit 30s. Unfortunately can't play in 32-bit mode as I get frame drops (sometimes even freezes for a second or so).

azure saddle
#

same here, 28s to main menu on 32 bit, around 87s in 64 bit (latter got worse since the last time)

torn gull
# deft bane Nice one, is it consistently or random?

Consistent, yes. I started the game 4 times and all 4 were below a minute. Races load faster too.

20 drivers with the same livery - 0:28 > 0:25
20 drivers in the same car, but all different liveries - 1:03 > 0:32
20 different cars - 2:35 > 1:07

So, I'm currently oing the AM GTR3 race on a server, it's stuck at the end of quali for some reason, I think it may be because some people are stuck loading in?

#

We're also stck, without having the possibility to go on track.

deft bane
meager ridge
#

Thanks 👍

deft bane
#

As it's a GTR3 server with a lot of models and liveries across multiple classes, it can take a while 😅

meager ridge
#

We've been like that for, like, 5 minutes at this point?

runic hearth

have you found any solutions yet @deft bane ?

deft bane
#

I have no news unfortunately

prime bay
#

same problem here, 64 bits launcher take ages to start or doesn't start at all, with 32 bits it starts fine but have some performance issues when racing.

azure saddle
#

So, we have a new starting sequence, takes around 55s in both 64 and 32 bit to menu now

#

slightly faster in 64, slower in 32 bit for me

runic hearth
#

annoyingly - the first splash screen takes seconds and then second screen takes forever 😦 i thought it was fixed for a moment

azure saddle
#

on the bright side, now it's actually launching the game, instead of making you think you crashed at the splash screen

runic hearth
#

You say that. But anytime I start a session it crashes

azure saddle
#

hm

#

rock solid for me

#

have you tried validating your game files?

runic hearth
#

Another post in this help section shows problems. I start a race/practice and the 'go race' button disappears and reappears. If I do click it the game crashes

azure saddle
#

yeah the go race button thing happens to me as well

#

but i can start practice successfully

runic hearth
#

Annoying thing is my brother who I haven't seen in years Is here and I told him all about sim racing, DD wheels, raceroom and now he's not exactly impressed

azure saddle
#

oof

#

"it's pretty great when it works!" "yeah.. I'm sure it is"

runic hearth
#

Exactly his response

azure saddle
#

whoa

#

whatever they did, 24 seconds in 64 bit

heavy badge
#

Yep, similar for me. It looks like it's fixed now after the latest update.

My RRE has always (well the last couple of years) been very slow to load. I just tried it now, not having fired it up in some time. The first load failed. Verified files and tried again - and it took 2 minutes to get to the main menu. This with 900/400 fibre, albeit from New Zealand. It took 1:40 of that to get to the first cars image, sitting at 0.4% cpu, 70MB and .3Mbps as it idled away all that time. Seems kinda broken to me, but it's normal.

I'm currently experiencing this issue. Normal load times are about 60sec but are currently at >30min. Yes, the game does actually load after that long. I've been looking at rrre64.exe with Procmon.. I can see it reading the registry, opening files, querying dll files - normal stuff. It then does a bunch of TCP traffic then it just sits there for 10min not doing a single thing. Then it might generate another 100 TCP events then sit there for 5min again doing sweet FA. I really don't know where to begin troubleshooting this further. I'm in Australia and it seems to be talking to a .de server. Local friends aren't having the same issue.

indigo ether
#

tried vpn?

pallid peak
#

Not yet no.. but I did try different DNS servers

pallid peak
#

Ok.. So on a free VPN from the Netherlands it loads in 85sec

#

Brilliant.. I have NFI what to do with that then

deft bane
#

sounds like a routing issue then, you could contact your ISP?

pallid peak
#

Yeah.. Ill have to. My friends are likely with different ISPs and they dont have the same issue.

azure saddle
#

might just be a temporary wonky route, but you can also try the command "ipconfig /flushdns" in cmd to clear your DNS cache

pallid peak
#

I tried alternate DNS servers and I cleared the DNS cache at that time..
