Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

what i would do: do a couple of runs through the content. yes subs, at first. french or english depending on how much of the vocabulary you know, english if less, french if more. then no subs, just listening when you can recognize all the vocab by ear

isn't the point of comprehensible input that it's comprehensible? I wouldn't use subtitles unless you need them to look up a word you don't know. there's nothing wrong with subtitles if you don't feel like putting in the effort to listen actively but generally I find that it's too easy to start ignoring the audio with the subtitles up.

yeah, actual comprehensible input shouldnt require subtitles in theory. If you're just talking about generally consuming french media, imo, try both. Mix them up. Both are helpful in theory, but both have downsides.

As long as you're talking about French subtitles, I like using both.
I highly recommend against subtitles in a language you're familiar with, but I've heard some people have good results with that
